I always thought Alfred Blue got kind of a raw deal in college. Just as he started to breakout he tore up his ACL. By the time he came back, Jeremy Hill had taken the job and ran with it. The kid doesn't have a lot of tread on the tires and reminds me of a poor man's Arian Foster with soft hands and decisive cuts. Seems like the Texans are a perfect fit for him and he only has Andre Brown to beat out to become the 2nd string RB behind a back coming off a back injury. Brown also has his own health issues. I'm sure Blue wasn't 100% recovered last year and you can see a significant difference in explosion from his previous years. Doesn't it take most RB's over a year to completely recover from that type of injury?
Having said all that, so far he's been a waiver add and a 5th round pick in my 2 12 team dynasty leagues and both by me. I'm not sure why he's so cheap. To me, there seems to be a lot of untapped potential here and a pretty good situation for that to happen.
It does seem like many close to the Texans believe that Blue could compete for #2 duties: http://www.stateofthetexans.com/blog/2014/05/31/sott-mailbag-houston-texans-week-1-otas-edition/
