I don't know. I could see Jeffrey scoring 7 or more TDs and Marshall with the same number. Marshall should definitely have the yardage edge, though.'rizzler said:Should do decent with the yardage, while Marshall will do well in yardage and be the redzone monster.
Very similar skillset. Not sure how they exist together.
Even the Bears rose-colored glasses on Hester are going to shatter in the light of Jeffrey's size and talent. Hester never was and never will be anything more than a WR4.Not too exciting to me this year unless he's starting over Bennett and Hester early on. Thinking something like 400/4.

I think Bloom is going to regret that comment. Jeffery was arguably the best receiver in the SEC for the last two years. Struggled some midseason last year with terrible QB problems, but found his form late. I can't remember how many times he made SEC defenders look foolish. I like him. And I'm fine he's being drafted late-ish. I grabbed him at 2.7 in a rookie draft. Dude's got some mitts. http://i.minus.com/ifmYWclQe1ihG.gifI got dogged by Bloom on the audible for making him the 2nd WR off the board after Blackmon in my dynasty league. Called him "nothing more than a jump ball specialist."I don't even need him to play this year. Wouldn't be surprised to hear those two talked up as the best receiver tandem outside of ATL heading into 2013.
I actually think they are perfect complements with Alshon being the speed/jumpball guy while Marshall is the power/possesion receiver. You can't really shutdown either guy down all game, they are too big and too physically gifted. Worse case is he's has all the talent in the world but turns out like Dez Bryant. Hopefully all he is focusing on is being a professional. The more I look at Alshon Jeffery I'm shocked how the other rookie receivers are getting more fantasy attention when none have his upside. I want to see how they use him in the preseason first before I get too excited in redraft.Very similar skillset. Not sure how they exist together.
Garcia was terrible but Jeffery's sophomore year was ridiculous, he was arguable the top WR in the conference with AJ Green and Julio Jones in the SEC as well.
Starts the season win IND,GB, STL, Dal, Jac, bye, Det, Car.. I think he starts hot and fades right in time for most trade deadlines. assuming he starts week 1.I'm a homer so I'm firmly on the Alshon bandwagon, but I'm expecting a slow start methodically gaining momentum as the season progresses. The Bears don't have to force him into the line-up so I expect them to only use him in situations he's completely comfortable and capable of. As the season wears on his command of the playbook and schemes should increase as well as his playing time. I don't expect he can be consistently relied upon in fantasy until about week 11 or 12, then as a marginal #3. By next season I fully expect him to be the clearcut #2 WR on the roster and borderline #3/#2 fantasy WR with upside. Assuming Cutler stays healthy of course.
Cutler made this comment very early on in training camp. I think the reviews on Jeffery have been increasingly positive as camp went on. Unless Cutler has repeated this lately I wouldn't put much stock in it as far as what Jefferys role will be."Less is more with him," quarterback Jay Cutler said of the second-round pick from South Carolina. "We're going to put him in positions where he can be successful -- not a lot of thinking - where he can just go out and play football and play fast. Whenever you start putting these guys in positions where they've got to move around, where they've got to think a lot, it just slows them down. They already have enough on their plates."Take that quote how you like.
Never been a big Jeffery fan. If I'm wrong I'll be the first to admit it, but he's always struck me as Mike Williams 2.0. Big frame. Almost too big. Prone to gaining weight. Struggles to separate. Not a fluid athlete. Not explosive. Not quick laterally. He's tall, strong, and great at plucking the ball out of the air, so he should have a role on Sundays, but I don't think he's as mobile or smooth as Brandon Marshall despite what the 40 times might say. No chance I'd take him ahead of Blackmon, Floyd, or Wright. I also like Rueben Randle more. I have Jeffery in the next cluster of rookie receivers with some of the other second round picks like Quick and Hill. What are the knocks against this guys game? All i have found are weight issues and somtimes lazy work ethic. Anything else?

Floyd is solid but I can't see him ever at a probowl level, off the field issues are worse than Jeffrey actually. And got blasted by Larry Fitz on twitter. I don't get the Randle hype 4.55 40 with a bad Vert being that big. He didn't do much in college and now is on a team with two studs.Blackmon won't be good without a QB, possession WR don't flourish without a top notch qb. Talent wise i agree were you have him as opposed to the other WRs but I have bad feelings (for this year) situation wise for hte others. Since when is Marshall a red zone monster?'rizzler said:Should do decent with the yardage, while Marshall will do well in yardage and be the redzone monster.
Disagree with this. Boldin tore it up his rookie year with 33 year old Jeff Blake as his QB. Keyshawn Johnson had 100 catches and 1200 yds with journeyman QB Brad Johnson throwing to him. Possession WRs can do fine without "top notch" QBs, though I do agree the QB has to be at least adequate.Blackmon won't be good without a QB, possession WR don't flourish without a top notch qb.
It's the guys who aren't possession WRs and thus are less dimensional as route runners that typically don't do well with poor QB play.Blackmon won't be good without a QB, possession WR don't flourish without a top notch qb.
One Tweet doesn't mean a guy has a bad work ethic. That's overreaction to the max. From what it sounds like, Floyd has worked pretty hard this offseason. I don't even have him on any teams and I'm not a massive fan of his game, but he was productive throughout his college career and was a top 15 draft pick. There's not much Jeffery does better than him, as they are both jump ball type WRs, but Floyd is a little more athletic overall. As for Randle, if playing WR in the NFL were simply a matter of who has the best combine numbers then Stephen Hill, Jerome Simpson, and Clyde Gates would be the best receivers in the league. Randle is a natural football player with plenty of height and speed to start on the outside. He was voted First Team All-SEC last year by the SEC coaches, so your assertion that he "didn't do much in college" is misguided. I don't know how you can claim that Blackmon won't be good without a QB. That's a shaky assumption for a few reasons. As others have pointed out, players like Boldin, Marshall, and Ward have had big seasons without a great QB throwing them the ball. And it's entirely possible that Gabbert will develop into a competent player. He was a high pick and he's still improving. Even if he doesn't pan out, they can always draft another player or sign a free agent. The Colts didn't have Peyton Manning when they drafted Marvin Harrison. The Rams didn't have Kurt Warner when they drafted Isaac Bruce. The Texans didn't have Matt Schaub when they drafted Andre Johnson. The Panthers didn't have Cam Newton when they drafted Steve Smith. The Lions didn't have Matt Stafford when they drafted Calvin Johnson. You see where I'm going with this? If we are talking about dynasty value, it's short-sighted to condemn a player's entire career because his situation looks bad initially. Wright was a first round pick, with at least two teams on record saying that they would've taken him in the top 25. First round picks actually don't grow on trees. There are usually only a couple receivers picked that high in any given draft. Wright is short, but thick for his height with great playing speed and explosiveness. He might not have the red zone presence of a bigger receiver, but some of that will be offset by his ability to get behind the defense and make big plays. It sounds like he has been impressive in practices for the Titans and their staff seems to have really high hopes for him.Floyd is solid but I can't see him ever at a probowl level, off the field issues are worse than Jeffrey actually. http://forums.footballguys.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=650642EBF, you're very high on Jon Baldwin being a #1 NFL WR. Isn't Alshon Jeffery the same player?Baldwin might be a little more athletic, but they are pretty close IMO.
That's not discussion based? I'm throwing him under the bus? I'm taking a jab?http://forums.footballguys.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=650642EBF, you're very high on Jon Baldwin being a #1 NFL WR. Floyd was arrested twice for drinking, once for a fight and a DUI last year. That's why I take in count his work ethic could be in question. Even though I think Fitz whines too much, especially when he hand pick Floyd and Kolb if rumors are right, I won't exactly ignore the facts. Unless your dedicated to your craft or just a physical freak I'll bet against you making a probowl. I liked watching him play when he was on but right now his upside is Malcolm Floyd while V-Jax was there. A lot of ND players get over hyped anyway.I started a whole thread on avoiding certain teams passing games and Jax is at the top. For instance if my choice was Blackmon or Randie Cobb now or long-term I'll gamble that Aaron Rogers can make good of overrated talent and not Gabbert. 1-2 years at best before I start to think about Blackmon.Randle's best season was 917 yards and 8 TD and then stunk up the combine. I can't get excited about that or his situation.Wright I don't really want to speak on in this thread. I'm looking for a size/speed TD threat, I can find his type all over the league. Now when you combine opportunity and some talent Jeffrey's tops my list immediately. There's a few other guys I like but they either don't have the size or opportunity as Jeffrey. One Tweet doesn't mean a guy has a bad work ethic. That's overreaction to the max. Caught the only pass thrown his way...20 yard skinny post down to the 1 yardline.Looks goodAnyone watching tonight? From twitter and stats, looks like he's in the game early and often... gotta like a rookie WR earning starter reps. How's he lookin?
I checked out the first game, grabbed 4 of 5 targets for 35 yards. I'm afraid of him being on a limited snap count for the bad wr's the bears have not gotten over. Logic would say start Marshall/Jeffry with Sanzenbacher in the slot, that would have been nice to see along with Olsen at TE.Caught the only pass thrown his way...20 yard skinny post down to the 1 yardline.Looks goodAnyone watching tonight?
