If it's a startup draft the 1.07 is way more valuable than a 1st round in next year's rookie draft and I'd probably argue that the 2.11 in a startup is more valuable than a 1st round rookie.

I'm guessing it's a startup with a separate rookie draft.  Otherwise of course 1.07 and 2.11 are more valuable than a random future 1st.

That's the thing - everyone seemed happy.  Almost everyone seems to feel like the guy they took should have gone 1.8 or 1.9.  There's no real consensus adp yet so once you get past the top group it's the wild west.  I've heard "I've been trying to trade up to get him for the last 3 picks" after almost every pick, and not just from the guy who made the pick.  One school of thought is that kamara and foreman should have been the consensus top guys because they were drafted early to contending teams. Another thought that ross should have gone 1.8 or soon thereafter since they were a top pick in the nfl draft and should go ahead of a bunch of mid round RB's. Some guys loved the immediate opportunity of perine and mack, others liked the all around game and vote of confidence from the Chiefs trading up to get hunt.  

One of the most interesting drafts I can remember especially in terms of all the trade offers flying around.  All but 2 or 3 owners have been actively wheeling and dealing, although not all of them eventually completed a trade, because everyone felt like their guy was the best guy.  

Everyone liked the tight ends but after 1.7 Howard, five of the next 6 picks were running backs. In total we had 9 running backs, 3 tight ends and only two receivers in the first round of a 14 team non ppr, followed immediately by ross and juju.

Envious of this sort of league.  I have the 1.01/1.03/1.04/1.06 and have received ONE trade offer this year.

There were no trades in our top 5 either.  One guy tried to trade up from 6 to 4 and gave up.  Nobody wanted to pay the assume price to move up from outside the top 6.  Action didn't pick up until 1.8 was on the clock, because pretty much everyone seemed to agree that there was a tier drop after 1.6 or so,  but not  on who the next guy should be.

This has been true in my first leagues draft's as well

maybe the most obvious statement ever, but it probably depends on league size and format.

For example, I'm in 2 "dynasty" leagues that are 12 teams, where we only Keep 12. So there re only so many developmental players that some folks can, or want to, carry.

That said, I take only rookies in the 1st two rounds of our 6 round rookie/free agent draft, almost without exception. Gotta be in it to win it since this whole thing is part lottery anyway.

Actually the commish who has playing dynasty for years. He fields some very good teams year in and year out. Some owners are just more vet centric. I am more youth centric to a fault. To each their own.

All but two or three of these are devy leagues so some guys were gone already.

I am Dead Souls in all of these. Some may be set to private, I'm not the commish so I don't know one way or the other.

That's one thing you always ask coming into a new league before the draft.  Not publicly, but you at least ask the Commish yourself.  This seems to happen every year.  Every Commish should have one mention of it in the bylaws, but if it doesn't say rookie only or has no mention of FAs being included or not, you gotta ask.  

 
Just traded 1.7, 2.4 and my 1st and 2nd in 2018 for 1.1. Its a 12 team PPR where you can start 3 RBs. Probably overpaid but 1.7 is that tipping point and I have Reed so if 1-6 went to form, really wasn't thrilled with settling for OJ.

I am hearing that Lynch kid is really good.  But, 2.03 might be a reach.

I agree you should ask (or just make the pick and have someone tell you later it's a no-no) but since the bylaws were titled "Annual Rookie Draft" it implied only rookies were available. Didn't matter to me as I wanted no part of Lynch at my 2.2 pick. I only mention it because he would have gone at 2.3 or again at 2.6 had the other new guys just made the pick rather than worry about their interpretation of the bylaws.

Well, it is a devy league and 6-7 of the top guys are gone...but I agree, he still went before Mixon, Engram and Kamara.  He has a real need at WR though and maybe went best WR and doesn't like Zay.

I guess I can safely predict he will be picking at the top of the draft each year.

 
Even if you love Samuel, that seems like really bad use of the pick. You should be able to trade 1.02 for Samuel + extras pretty easily. Either drop down or take someone like Mixon who has higher market value, and trade him after.

Here is our rookie draft from last night....12 team ppr (1pt per rec. all positions) 1qb, 0-2rb, depending on rb started 0-5 wr, te can be used.  11 man IDP starter...53 man rosters $1000 salary cap for entire team.  (we have slotted prices per pick depending on position or you can throw a rookie out for auction where all other owners bid and you have the right to match...in our 37 picks this year there was only 1 auction...all players were slotted because no one wanted to take a chance on price being higher than slot price (some owners drive up prices historically).  My team in Red.
