Coach Josh McCown (5 Viewers)

What do you guys think about Glennon going forward?
1) Unless Glennon spends the next month channelling the ghost of Blaine Gabbert, Josh McCown has quite possibly taken his last snap as an NFL starter.

2) Nonetheless, Glennon + V-Jax + Evans + ASJ = 26 feet worth of fantasy fail.

Josh McCown shouldn't take another snap for this team unless Glennon is injured. Which leads me to believe he'll start when his thumb is ready. Lovie clearly hasn't learned a ####### thing from all the mistakes he made in Chicago.

Rotoworld:

The Tampa Bay Times' Rick Stroud said QB Josh McCown "has a significant sprain" to his right (throwing) thumb.

McCown is scheduled to see a hand specialist on Monday, and "all options remain open." One of those options is presumably surgery, which may be required if McCown suffered ligament damage. McCown is expected to miss "several weeks." Mike Glennon will start in his absence.

Rotoworld:

Bucs QB Josh McCown (sprained thumb) has yet to rule himself out for Week 4 against the Steelers.

McCown says he's "healing and getting better." It's a sign McCown isn't dealing with an overly serious injury, but we doubt the 0-3 Bucs push the envelope with their struggling starter. They're likely to the point where they'd like to get a look at No. 2 Mike Glennon, and this allows them to do so in a controversy-free way. McCown's status will be updated when the Bucs return to practice on Wednesday.

Rotoworld:

ESPN's Adam Schefter mentioned on NFL Insiders Monday that Josh McCown has a torn ligament in his right (throwing) thumb.

Coach Lovie Smith is refusing to commit to Mike Glennon as the Bucs' starter in Week 5 against the Saints, but all signs point in that direction. McCown may not even be healthy enough for backup duties. The Bucs signed Mike Kafka off their practice squad last week. He could remain the backup at New Orleans.

Josh McCown - QB - Buccaneers

After testing his injured thumb on Monday, Josh McCown plans to avoid surgery.

McCown says he's feeling better, but it may not really matter at this point. Mike Glennon led the Bucs to a comeback win over the Steelers last Sunday and may remain the team's starter, even though coach Lovie Smith is refusing to commit to him past Week 5. McCown remains week-to-week.

Josh McCown - QB - Buccaneers

Josh McCown will be the Bucs' starting quarterback for Week 10 against the Falcons.

Mike Glennon announced that he had been benched in a Tuesday radio interview. McCown was extremely ineffective before injuring his thumb in Tampa's 56-14, Week 3 loss to the Falcons, completing just 43-of-68 passes (63.2 percent) for 420 yards (6.18 YPA) and a 2:4 TD:INT ratio. He's making $4.75 million, however, and Glennon has done little to run with the job in McCown's absence. The desperate 1-7 Bucs are willing to try anything at this point. Even against the lowly Falcons, McCown will be a low-end QB2.

Who's jumping back on the Josh McCown train? At home, against a pourous Falcons defense. A grudge match to be sure from the first beatdown on Thursday Night Football. Dirt cheap, on most everybody's waiver wires. I think he's a sleeper bye week special. Not predicting a huge game first game back, but he's going to outperform a lot of names you regularly see in the top 10.

Choo Choo!!

He has a pretty good chance to make the top 20, maybe the top 15 with this matchup. Debating McCown or Vick as my QB2.

Dropped Vick and am starting McCown.

Lovie said afterward that McCown "gave us a spark". He is 5th among QB's in points scored IML this week (pending MNF). I hope he hangs onto the job and it sounds like he will, at least for the foreseeable future.

If they truly think Mike Glennon has no future with the team then they will stick with McCown. They could always use McCown one more season as a bridge QB in 2015 if they don't draft a QB early (or even of they do I guess).

I'm pretty sure the spark came courtesy of Atl and their 30th ranked defense.

Atlanta D might suck but you have to give him credit for playing well. If they could cut down the penalties and dumb mistakes they would've scored more.

Other than the Pittsburgh game that was easily the best the offense has looked all year.

Rotoworld :

Free agent QB Josh McCown left his Monday visit to the Bills without a contract.

A source tells the Buffalo News that this was strictly a visit and salary numbers were not even discussed. McCown, working from a position of power thanks to his Feb. 11 release from the Bucs, will now make one or two more visits and build contract leverage. Yes, there is a market for a 35-year-old journeyman quarterback who went 1-10 with a 11:14 TD-to-INT ratio last season. Ultimately, it wouldn't be a surprise if McCown did end up signing with the Bills because he knows he can beat out E.J. Manuel for the starting gig.

Rotoworld:

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, free agent Josh McCown will visit a few more teams before making a decision.

McCown was a disaster in 2014, but with such limited quarterback talent in this year's free agent class, he shouldn't have any trouble landing a new team. The veteran visited Buffalo Monday morning, leaving without a contract. Schefter did not say which teams McCown will be meeting with next but the Browns, Jets, Redskins, Texans and Titans are all in need of a quarterback. Profootballtalk reports he'll meet with a team at the Combine.

Rotoworld:

Free agent QB Josh McCown had breakfast with the Bears on Wednesday morning at the NFL Scouting Combine.

The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports the Browns have also "expressed interest" in the soon-to-be 36-year-old, while NFL Network's Ian Rapoport adds that they're just two of eight teams poking around McCown. The quarterback class this offseason is so weak that McCown, who posted an ugly 11:14 TD:INT ratio across 11 games last season, is the darling of the ball. He'll have no trouble finding a job and will likely make a decision within the next couple weeks.

Seems like Arz should have some interest, no?
Almost every team would have interest of him as a backup. But he's going to want to go to a team like Buffalo or the Jets where he can either compete right off the bat or have his shot when someone falters.

Looks like the thread title has been answered.
It appears that I was right. It is unfortunate. I like McCown. Sorry to see him let go. Love overestimated McCown's ability, and underestimated the problems. Interesting to see if he gets another starting gig.

Folks on Bucs staff told me McCown had to basically be OC & play QB which is why he struggled. @MikeGarafolo mentioned as much just now.

QB options are pretty limited. What would you suggest they do?

Does that explain 90% of the suckage that is his NFL career?
