WR Jarvis Landry, Saints (2 Viewers)

Speaking Thursday, Jarvis Landry confirmed he could require hip surgery after the season.

Landry, who is suiting up for Week 17 against the Bengals, said he will visit a hip specialist at the end of the season. Presumably, Landry won't wait and will head to the doctor next week. Already over 1,000 yards for the first time since 2016, Landry leads the Browns in most receiving categories over Odell Beckham, including targets. His 13.5 yards per catch is easily a new career high, while he's 66 away from a new personal best in receiving yards.

Jarvis Landry said surgery on his injured hip would be a "last resort."

Surgery would knock Landry out for 6-8 months, potentially sidelining him for the start of 2020. Even with his hip bothering him, Landry still enjoyed one of his best seasons, tallying a career-high 1,174 yards on 83 catches for the 6-10 Browns. A perennial cheat code in PPR leagues, the 27-year-old LSU alum has never missed a game in his six NFL seasons.

Jarvis Landry (hip) is not expected to undergo surgery this offseason.

It's a sigh of relief from Cleveland's camp as hip surgery would've potentially sidelined Landry into Week 1 of the new league year. His agreement to participate in the Pro Bowl Skills Showdown is further acknowledgement the 27-year-old avoided the worst. The fact Landry tallied a career-high 1,174 receiving yards despite playing "75 to 80 percent" healthy in '19 only enhances his ceiling across from Odell Beckham in fantasy leagues for 2020.

Browns WR Jarvis Landry underwent offseason hip surgery.

Landry was banged up for a large portion of the 2019 regular season. The good news is he's reportedly expected to be back at some point during training camp. Still, hip surgery is far from ideal for any player, particularly one that relies so much on their after-the-catch ability. Landry was one of the only bright spots of last season's Browns, as he posted a season-long 83-1174-6 line while averaging a stellar 8.5 yards per target.

Jarvis Landry (hip surgery) is expected to be sidelined 6-8 months.

In other words, he's questionable not just for training camp, but Week 1. In a statement announcing Landry's operation, the team did imply it expected him to ready for the opener. Landry has always been a warrior when it comes to injuries, but there is only so much you can do when returning from major surgery. Landry's operation "shaved down some cartilage and removed two pieces of bone embedded in the labrum of his left hip." He went under the knife on Feb. 4. His Week 1 status cannot be taken for granted.

Browns coach Kevin Stefanski said Jarvis Landry (hip) is "on track" in his rehab.

Landry is two months into a 6-8 month timetable after February labrum surgery. He's been setback free in his recovery and is progressing on schedule. Landry is questionable for training camp, but the Browns are hoping he'll be ready for Week 1.

Browns WR Jarvis Landry (hip surgery) said he's "a little bit ahead of schedule" in rehab.

“The rehab processes is going great,” Landry said Wednesday during a Zoom video conference with Browns beat writers. “It’s just a little difficult obviously with some of the modality type of things that I’ve been doing that obviously with quarantine and everything I hadn’t been able to have access to. You know, I can’t predict when exactly I’ll be on the field, whether that’s July, August or September. But obviously my [anticipated] return date is sometime in August.” Just three months into a 6-8 month timetable following labrum surgery in February, an August forecast would put Landry on the field at the earliest date possible. He's still expected to be ready for Week 1.

In the last 8 games, he only had 2 games with less than 74 yards.  And in one of those he salvaged it with a TD.  Assuming he's recovered from the hip, he should be a solid bet for 80+ catches 1000-1100 yards, 5-6 TD's.  He's probably not going to have a monster, blow you away season.  But he's going around WR30.  He's a value in regular leagues, he's a really nice value in PPR.

Baker should be better this year.  And even if he's not a world beater, the offense as a whole should be better.

Speaking Thursday, Browns coach Kevin Stefanski said Jarvis Landry (hip surgery) was "looking great."

“Jarvis, to his credit, he’s looking great, some of the videos I’ve seen of him moving around,” was Stefanski's exact quote. Asked about Landry's participation early in camp, Stefanski said "we’ll make sure we ramp (him) up appropriately.” Landry was given a 6-8 month timeline after going under the knife on Feb. 4, putting him in danger of missing Week 1. We won't have a great idea of Landry's status until the Browns actually report.

Browns WR Jarvis Landry's Week 1 status (hip) is the "biggest concern" for the Browns' passing offense, according to the Akron Beacon Journal.

Landry apparently waited until early February to have surgery on his injured hip. Leading the team in targets, he played all 16 games for Cleveland last year, as he has done in each of his six pro seasons. If Landry is sidelined to start the season, RB Kareem Hunt "may be spending much of his time in receiver meetings," the Beacon Journal reported. Hunt, who finished third in receptions for Cleveland last year despite playing just half the season, saw 5.5 targets per game.

Browns activated Jarvis Landry (hip) from the active/PUP list.

The reports on Landry's recovery from hip surgery have been positive all offseason. Landry's status for Week 1 has been in some doubt but coming off the PUP list this early is a good sign. He led the Browns with 83 catches and 1,174 yards in 2019. Landry's presence in the slot will be crucial to Baker Mayfield's improvement in his third season.

Jarvis Landry (hip) said his Week 1 playing time will be dependent on the Browns' gameplan.

Landry has been cleared for team drills since training camp. He's not listed on the Week 1 injury report, but Landry isn't fully over offseason hip surgery. Landry’s early-season snaps look likely to be managed. Odell Beckham and Austin Hooper are better bets than Landry for Week 1 targets.

Jarvis Landry (hip) was held out of Tuesday's practice.

This is almost certainly just rep management after Landry wasn't listed on Monday's report. Landry has already said his early-season role will be game-plan dependent. It's a bad time for a short week to already be here. Landry will be a low-end WR3 for Thursday's Bengals tilt.

Sep 15, 2020, 4:03 PM ET

Jarvis Landry (hip) is questionable for Thursday night's Week 2 game against the Bengals.

Landry picked up a "DNP" Tuesday but was back in "limited" action Wednesday, putting him on track for Thursday night. Still, the DNP gives us some pause. We'll have to keep an eye on inactives before kickoff. If active, Landry will be a rock-solid WR2 after going 5-61 on six targets against Baltimore in Week 1.

Browns WR Jarvis Landry (hip) is expected to suit up against the Bengals on Thursday Night Football.

Landry, coming off offseason hip surgery, is listed as questionable for Week 2. NFL Network's Tom Pelissero said the team expects him to be out there after leading the Browns in receiving last week against Baltimore. The veteran played 71 percent of the Browns' offensive snaps last week, quelling fears he may be on a snap count as he deals with hip discomfort. He's a low-ceiling option with his usually high PPR floor against the Bengals.

Browns offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt said Jarvis Landry is not fully healthy after hip surgery in February.

Landry has played a full complement of snaps even though he's still not 100 percent recovered from surgery. Landry hasn't been his usual target hog self, drawing a meager 13 targets in three weeks. Landry in Week 4 is a WR3 option who has a chance to see some volume if the Cowboys-Browns game is a shootout.

Jarvis Landry caught 4-of-9 targets for 88 yards in Cleveland's Week 5 win over Indianapolis.

Landry opened the game with gains of 32 and 18 yards on his first two catches but notably struggled to get up after being sandwiched between Xavier Rhodes and Zaire Franklin in the first quarter. That could explain his two costly drops in the final 15 minutes, bobbling precision throws from Baker Mayfield that would have otherwise moved the chains. Landry's nine targets (a season-high number) were encouraging, but fantasy players should not depend on 37 attempts from Mayfield weekly. Landry will be much more useful as a bye-week filler, but isn't a strong immediate option in Week 6 against Pittsburgh.

Oct 11, 2020, 8:42 PM ET

Jarvis Landry (ribs, hip) is not practicing Wednesday.

Landry had a strong game last week against the Colts, catching 4-of-9 targets for 88 yards. The ribs thing is new for Landry, but he's been playing through hip pain all year after undergoing surgery in the offseason. If Landry were to sit, Rashard Higgins would likely pick up extra snaps alongside Odell beckham.

Oct 14, 2020, 2:43 PM ET

Jarvis Landry (ribs, hip) remained sidelined on Thursday.

Landry's practice reps have been rationed all season because of his surgically-repaired hip, but the ribs designation is new. It suggests his Week 6 status may actually be in doubt. Landry constantly plays through injury, so he is probably still on the right side of questionable for Cleveland's tough matchup with the Steelers. If Landry goes, he will be a low-end WR3 as a No. 2 receiver who hasn't demonstrated much upside in a run-heavy attack this season.

Oct 15, 2020, 4:14 PM ET

Landry has been coming on the last 2 weeks. Is that due to him getting in more football shape(as he basically couldn't workout after offseason hip surgery) or due to him being needed more with Nick Chubb out?

Landry has a very proven track record, and a pretty nice schedule the rest of the way. I've seen him cut in a few leagues for the flavor of the week types, but I kind of think he's an interesting buy-low(or buy free I guess) guy right now. I still think its possible/probable there is a solid WR3 in there, with maybe some upside in games(like this week) where the Browns are forced to pass more.

Browns WR Jarvis Landry said he suffered a broken rib in Week 5 against the Colts.

Landry's admission sheds light on the extent of his rib injury. Still recovering from offseason hip surgery, Landry isn't close to 100 percent, but continues to play through the pain. Between the injuries and the low-volume Browns passing offense, Landry is nothing more than a low-end WR3 in PPR leagues with little weekly upside. Landry is the WR40 through Week 6.

Jarvis Landry caught 4-of-11 targets for 52 yards in the Browns' Week 8 loss to the Raiders.

An easy home matchup with Odell Beckham's absence opening up targets was a good spot for Landry on paper, but he's simply playing through multiple injuries. His hip is an issue, as is his broken rib. Until he proves that he has explosion, expectations should be held in check. The Browns have a bye coming up and will get back on the field in Week 10 against the Texans. Landry will be a flex play then with Rashard Higgins (3 targets) not proving to be a major threat.

Weather was definitely a factor, but it's painful watching Landry out there. He needs to get healthy.

Jarvis Landry caught 3-of-5 targets for 29 yards in the Browns' Week 10 win over the Texans.

There isn't much to say about this one. With the wind swirling, the Browns dialed up 41 rushes and simply tried to outlast the Texans in a field position slugfest. Landry has just seven receptions for 81 yards in two full games since Odell Beckham was lost for the season, which isn't much different from his production before OBJ's injury. It's fair to wonder if 27-year-old Landry is all the way recovered from his hip ailment. The targets have nowhere to go but up down the stretch, but this will remain one of the league's run-heaviest offenses. The Eagles are on tap for Week 11.

Jarvis Landry caught 8-of-11 targets for 143 yards and a touchdown in the Browns Week 12 win over the Jaguars.

Coming into Week 12, Landry hadn't topped 90 yards in a single game since Week 12 of 2019. The Jacksonville defense left gave Landry loads of separation and the Browns punished them throughout the game for it. He also reeled in a few difficult receptions from off throws by Baker Mayfield. Landry's biggest issue going forward will be his team's passing volume. They ran the ball with their running backs as many times as they passed this week. The Browns travel to face the Titans next week and may actually be forced into passing more as Tennessee is a far more difficult opponent than Jacksonville. Landry is a low-end WR2 in the solid matchup.

Jarvis Landry caught 6-of-9 targets for 52 yards in the Browns' Week 14 loss to the Ravens.

He also completed one pass for 12 yards. Landry's nine targets were second on the team to Rashard Higgins' 10, who went 6-68-1 on his looks. Landry has 30 targets over his last three games and snapped his two-game touchdown streak with this scoreless effort. Still, Landry looks to be as healthy as he's been all season right now and will be a WR3 for Week 15 against the Giants.

Do we trust him today?  Giants D not all that terrible (but some missing due to Covid)Already needing Chubb to have a big big day.  Injury and Covid made a mess of my flex and its Landry vs. several part timer RBs (Wilson/Gus).  Landry may about be the safest bet to get about 50 yards or so given the amount of targets he has been getting.

Jarvis Landry caught 7-of-8 targets for 61 yards and one touchdown in the Browns' Week 15 win over the Giants.

Landry's stat lines have done a 180-degree turn since the midpoint of the season. No Odell Beckham has earned Landry more weekly target, and Landry was able to get healthier with the bye week after struggling with hip and rib injuries in September and October. Over the last month, Landry has been a weekly WR2 with upside in the right matchups. That will be the case in Week 16 against the Jets.

Browns placed Jarvis Landry on the reserve/COVID-19 list.

It's a catastrophe for the Browns. Landry, Donovan Peoples-Jones, KhaDarel Hodge, and Rashard Higgins were all considered high-risk close contacts of someone who tested positive for COVID-19. It leaves the team without any of its regular wideouts for Week 16 against the Jets. Marvin Hall is the only receiver on the official Browns depth chart who has not been deemed a COVID close contact. He will be joined by practice squad call-ups Ja'Marcus Bradley and Derrick Willies.

JARVIS LANDRY WR, CLEVELAND BROWNS

Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski said the team will activate its receivers from the reserve/COVID-19 list on Thursday if they continue testing negative for the virus.

Jarvis Landry, Donovan Peoples-Jones, KhaDarel Hodge, and Rashard Higgins missed Week 16's game against the Jets -- a devastating loss for Cleveland -- after contact tracing identified them as high-risk close contacts of someone who had tested positive for COVID-19. The team should have some of all of their wideouts back for Week 17's game against the Steelers. Landry and Higgins have served as viable WR2s in recent weeks, though a matchup against Pittsburgh could prove tough for the Browns' passing attack.

Jarvis Landry caught 5-of-6 targets for 51 yards in the Browns' Week 17 win over the Steelers, adding a three-yard rushing score.

That puts a bow on a disappointing regular season where Landry spent months getting back to 100 percent health following offseason hip surgery, though the only game he missed was Week 16 due to COVID protocols. Landry's 840 yards receiving were his fewest since his rookie year in 2014, while his four scores were his fewest since 2016. Even with Odell Beckham missing most of the season, this just isn't an offense where Landry can post big numbers, especially if he's not all the way healthy. A Steelers rematch is on tap for the Wild Card Round.

- Rotoworld

Jarvis Landry caught 5-of-8 targets for 92 yards and a touchdown in Cleveland's Wild Card win over the Steelers.

Landry helped build Cleveland's 28-0 first-quarter lead, separating from S Terrell Edmunds and shaking CB Mike Hilton to complete a 40-yard touchdown grab on 3rd-and-5. Sunday was also the fifth time in Cleveland's last six games that Landry accrued at least eight targets, totaling 52 opportunities (8.6 per game) in that stretch. Austin Hooper actually led the Browns with 11 targets, but Landry should still be trusted as the team's No. 1 receiving threat for fantasy purposes when the Browns travel to Kansas City in the Divisional Round.

Jarvis Landry (MCL) will have an MRI on Monday according to coach Kevin Stefanski.

Not great news for the five-time Pro Bowler. Stefanski specified it as an MCL injury and there was no indication on how long Landry could be absent. With Odell Beckham also missing the first two games of the season, the Browns may quickly be entering Anthony Schwartz WR1 szn. Stay tuned for a Monday update on Landry's condition from the Browns, but it would be surprising if he didn't miss some time.

Sep 19, 2021, 6:37 PM ET

Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski said Jarvis Landry (knee) is considered "week to week."

Stefanski said Sunday that Landry suffered an MCL injury against Houston. Fantasy managers should have contingency plans for Week 3 -- and possibly beyond. Donovan Peoples-Jones, Anthony Schwartz, and Rashard Higgins served as the Browns' wideouts in three-receiver sets with Landry sidelined against the Texans. Peoples-Jones was the team's primary slot receiver. The fantasy usefulness of Cleveland receivers hinges on Odell Beckham's (knee) availability in Week 3 against the Bears.

He's been very durable his whole career. Not sure if I'm going to hold on to him though - he's typically steady, but it's a low volume passing offense, OBJ is coming back, and there are more mouths to feed than in years past.

Last I heard, Landry required to miss a minimum of 3 games due to his MCL sprain,  coach Kevin Stefanski labeled him week-to-week. That makes Cleveland's matchup against the Cardinals on Oct. 17 (Week 6)the earliest possible return date for the receiver.

No word except for that afaik.

Has there been any updates to expected return?  Week 7 best case scenario?

been stashing him in my IR slot. Would be nice to get him out of it and see how it goes. Very minimal news about how he's doing.

Browns designated Jarvis Landry (knee) to return from injured reserve.

Landry will reportedly return to Browns practice Friday. The team has 21 days to put Landry back on the active roster after he missed three weeks with the MCL issue -- his first injury-related absence since 2014. The Browns have until 4 p.m. Saturday to activate Landry if he's going to play Sunday against the Cardinals. His return will likely be a blow to Odell Beckham, who last week seemed to be an afterthought in the Cleveland offense.

Cleveland.com's Mary Kay Cabot reports Jarvis Landry (knee) won't play in Week 6 against Arizona.

This merely confirms Landry won't suit up against the Cardinals -- always a long shot scenario after he was designated to return from injured reserve on Friday. Baker Mayfield will go one more week without his underneath security blanket and Odell Beckham has one last shot to see some volume before Landry's return.
