Terrelle Pryor takes Raiders' No.1 QB reps; Barron cutBy Gregg Rosenthal

Around The League Editor

It's game week. The Oakland Raiders have no choice but to show their hand as to how they will approach the quarterback and left tackle positions in Sunday's season opener against the Indianapolis Colts.

Terrelle Pryor took the first-team snaps at practice Monday, according to Jerry McDonald of the Oakland Tribune. Matt Flynn missed practice last week with a "sore arm," but he wasn't listed as one of the players who didn't suit up on Monday. Pryor was expected to be the Week 1 starter throughout last week, and his rough preseason finale apparently didn't change that.

Speaking to reporters Monday, coach Dennis Allen said that he has told Pryor and Flynn who will start Sunday's game, but he isn't yet making the decision public, according to Vic Tafur of The San Francisco Chronicle.

The Raiders' troubling left tackle situation, meanwhile, can be summarized in one sentence that came across the transaction wire Monday: They signed free agent Tony Pashos and released Alex Barron.

Barron was the team's starting left tackle just two weeks ago, as the team scrambled to replace injured starter Jared Veldheer. But Barron hadn't played in a game since 2010, and it showed during the preseason. Rookie Menelik Watson is expected to start at left tackle after missing most of camp.

The team has just three healthy tackles on the roster: Watson, Pashos and Khalif Barnes. Veldheer is a candidate to be placed on injured reserve later this week, with a designation to return.

Rotoworld:

Redskins coach Mike Shanahan confirmed Robert Griffin III (knee) will start next Monday night's opener against the Eagles.
There was never a doubt, at least not since last winter. Shanahan called Griffin "full speed ahead" and "ready to go." "I feel very good where Robert's at," added Shanny. "He'll be our starter Monday night." Griffin has zero soreness or swelling in his surgically repaired knee. Philly's defense looked nothing short of awful during the preseason and lacks talent at all three levels, so this'll be a great Opening Day matchup for Griffin.
Kendall Wright (knee) practiced Monday, and is expected to be ready for Sunday's opener.
Wright went down in the Titans' second preseason game, but has progressed without setbacks. He'll run as the Titans' No. 3 receiver against the Steelers. Despite Wright's considerable talent, his role and the Titans' QB situation has him off the re-draft radar to begin the season. He could come into WR4 value fairly quickly, however.

Isaac Redman (stinger) was a full participant in Steelers practice Monday, and confirmed he'll run as the starter during Le'Veon Bell's (foot) absence.
This was the obvious implication when the Steelers waived Jonathan Dwyer. It's likely Redman will cede some touches to Felix Jones, particularly on third down, but he's the back to own if you simply must start a Steeler during Bell's absence. Redman was ineffective as part of the Steelers' ball-carrying carousel in 2012, averaging just 3.7 yards on his 110 carries. He's a low-end FLEX play. It's a situation to avoid if at all possible.

The Redskins believe they can develop fifth-round pick Chris Thompson into a "dangerous punt returner."
Thompson is a scatback/gadget back only as a runner, but the Skins kept him on the 53 due to special teams potential. He has 4.3 jets at 5-foot-7, 192.

NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports the Jets' "internal fear" upon Mark Sanchez's (shoulder) injury was that he'd be lost for more than Week 1.
ESPN New York's Rich Cimini believes Sanchez's injury is "(clearly) worse than team is letting on." The Jets brought in their latest scrub backup Monday, signing Brady Quinn. Cimini "wouldn't be shocked" if Sanchez was IRed or released at some point during the regular season. All signs suggest Geno Smith is in for more than a one-week cameo under center.

Santonio Holmes (foot) is participating in practice Monday as the Jets prepare to play the Buccaneers in Week 1.
The Jets practiced in shells, and beat reporter Rich Cimini observed that Holmes "looks fine" physically. He appears on track to start Week 1, where Holmes would undoubtedly draw Darrelle Revis on the majority of offensive snaps.

GM Phil Emery said Brandon Marshall looks "better than he was last year."
Marshall was recently away from the team for four days in order to get a routine follow-up appointment on his surgically repaired hip. Emery is not concerned in the least. The general manager, ESPN Chicago and Marshall himself have all confirmed that he'll be ready to go when the Bears open up against the Bengals on Sunday. Marshall played through some discomfort to the tune of a 118/1508/11 line last year and hasn't missed a game since 2010. He remains in the second tier of fantasy wideouts behind Calvin Johnson.

Blaine Gabbert (thumb) did some light throwing Monday.
Gabbert did not take any snaps from center as he continues to wear a wrap on his right (throwing) thumb. We suspect he'll get a full practice in on Wednesday. Gabbert will start over Chad Henne if he's medically cleared.
