Khiry Robinson (3 Viewers)

At this point it seems obvious that Robinson fractured his forearm. Since it takes around 6 weeks for a fracture to heal that would put his return at week 13 against the Steelers.

Saints released RB Pierre Thomas.

The Saints begin the difficult process of cutting veterans amid their salary-cap nightmare. Currently about $20 million over the cap, the Saints save just $1.735 million with the move. Thomas took a pay cut last offseason and went on to total 600 yards with three touchdowns on 90 touches. He recently turned 30 and now joins a flooded running-back market. An obvious product of Sean Payton's system, Thomas would do well to command $2 million per year as a passing-game specialist. The Saints have an in-house replacement option in Travaris Cadet.
Only Robinson and Cadet left.

Seems ridiculous after they underutilized Ingram for 3-4 years, but the Saints once again seem like a team destined to take one of the top 3-4 rookie RB's.

Why? Robinson has a career 4.5 YPC and looked every bit as good as Ingram.

Late to the game - is Ingram for sure gone?
Not for sure but they're $20M OVER the cap so I think it would be hard to get him to sign there. I don't think they can afford him and since they grossly underused him while he was there I don't see why they would bother.

Looked like Curtis Martin 2000 @ the end of '13, Trent Richardson @ the end of last season. Must believe Saints draft Day2 RB

He's got injury issues and has never been that good. You're crazy if you think they're rolling with Robinson as their #1 RB this year.

Read this just yesterday from a Saints beat writer who was writing about Ingram leaving so obviously before PT got ousted. For the most part I've known this beat writer to be accurate more often than not.

An Ingram-less backfield lacks a leading back, though. An Ingram-less backfield also shoots running back much higher on the priority list.

Tell me if you've heard this one before: the Saints probably won't break the bank on any free agent running back. Shocking, I know.

Plus, the Saints haven't signed a free agent running back to significant money in the Sean Payton era ever. I can't see the philosophy changing with the success of undrafted rookies like Robinson, Thomas, Chris Ivory, etc.

The Saints will need a running back from somewhere. Where they acquire one is a guessing game come March 10 and beyond with Ingram looking more like he's running out the door.

wanted to bump this...just saw an article yesterday that the saints arent planning to match another teams offer for him, Ive been holding him off and on in my dynasty league for awhile and am glad he has a chance to go somewhere and have a chance to be a lead back. I dont think a team will sign him as the "lead back" tho and as more of a competition guy and hopefully he can win that and get carries. Teams that i can see doing something like that would be colts, giants, then maybe washington or miami. Colts have gore and giants have a bunch of rbs but both could use a little more production at rb so by signing khiry pretty cheap they could end up with a rb with a lot of potential over there current starter. Most people expect washington and miami to lean towards using there soon to be second year rbs jones and ajayi as there main back but would think both would want a decent backup or guy that can compete with them in case they arent as good as some people think

I've held him for a while too, and he's likely going to end up being a drop just because I don't have the room to keep him after the rookie draft.  Hopefully he goes somewhere and I can flip him for a future 2nd or something but I have my doubts he even ends up leaving NO.  There's a lot of good landing spots for RB's this season and it's way too muddled right now to kind of see where people are going to go.

Landed with the Jets, not really the landing spot I would have liked but I wouldnt say it was a horrible spot. Forte will be the main back but khiry may still get some goalline work like he did in NO so he could still maybe be a flex option in deep leagues. I havent seen how long the contract is but if its a couple years that would keep his value up still since forte isnt the young stud he used to be so all it may take is one injury and then khiry could take off somewhat like langford did this year

1yr/$1.75M. He's worth hanging onto as I think he's better than Forte at this point and, even if the staff doesn't agree with me after a few games, he'll probably still get his shot at some point this year due to injury in order to showcase himself for next year's free agency. Forte is getting older and missed some games last year.

Bad landing spot, he's not much use in dynasty leagues right now.
It killed his fantasy value. Fortunately in leagues I own him is that he was I.R. most of last year and didn't cost me a roster spot. Looking on the bright side, this will help with my roster cut down decisions.

yup i plan on holding onto him as my last keeper slot, would of liked to see the contract be for longer so if forte were to leave after this year he would be in line to take over

I've tried shopping him as a cuff to Forte owners for late 3rd type value and getting stonewalled.  I'm holding for a little longer, but it might be hard after rookie drafts and cutdowns.

I like that it was a one year contract myself. I like the fact that he can keep his options open heading into FA next year, that if he shows well this year he might be able to seek out more of a full time role if he can't get that with the Jets.

Not sure why anyone thinks it's a bad landing spot or that he is now worthless. I think he's best pure runner on the team but all 3 backs are fairly versatile and Gailey is good OC at making use of his backs skill set. I imagine some will point to the money he got versus what Forte/Powell got and conclude he's easily the third stringer but I think that is a simplistic viewpoint. He probably can't even pass a physical right now and is not proven so signing a one year prove it contract at low terms is no reflection of his value or worth to me.

I also don't think it's a coincidence that the two teams that reportedly had interest in him, NE and Jets, both have members of the Bill Parcells coaching tree as head coaches.

He's back from his broken leg... resigned by the Jets, presumably for the rest of this season.  Brandon Wilds elevated from the practice squad too.

Idk what this says about Forte or Powell, or if the Jets are simply trying to see if they have anything on the roster worth keeping for next year.
