How To Get To Heaven When You Die (1 Viewer)

So, Herod the Great, who reportedly was ruling the area, and who reportedly ordered the killing of males under 2 years old in the vicinity of Bethleham during the time of Jesus died shortly thereafter, but not before leaving a few sons, among them another Herod, who became king of a smaller portion of the region, but a significant portion for the later Bible stories.

Oh, for Tim, no reports on whether the younger Herod could sing or play ragtime piano.

The bible was written by God through 40 men in 3 languages over a 1,500 year period. These men lived in different parts of the world, some were rich, some were poor, some were educated, some were not, most didn't know each other, nor did they necessarily have access to the other's writings and yet it fits together as if it were written by one person, because it was written by God. It has no true errors or contradictions. There are countless prophecies which have been predicted and fulfilled perfectly in scripture. Many of these prophecies were written hundreds or even thousands of years before they were fulfilled.

Hijack: I'm looking for profound biblical quotes on serving your fellow man. The best I've come up with so far is, "He that is the greatest among you will be your servant." Matt23:11.

Any others similar? I'm looking for something that speaks to the good of service that doesn't interject "God" or "the Lord" in the middle of it somewhere like Prov19:17 does, "Whoever is generous to the poor lends to the Lord".

Not fishing, serious question. TIA

“You give but little when you give of your possessions. It is when you give of yourself that you truly give.” Wait, that from The Prophet.

"Wonder who will water all the children of the garden when they sigh about the barren lack of rain and droop so hungry 'neath the sky; I." Wait, that's Jerry Garcia.

"Do unto others as you would have others do unto you." This one may work.

I really like the first one. Maybe I'll mix in some other famous quotes too. I really need some biblical though to identify with my audience. Thanks.

What good is it, my brothers, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can that faith save him? If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that? So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead.

Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.

So, so you think you can tell
Heaven from Hell,
Blue sky's from pain.
Can you tell a green field
From a cold steel rail?
A smile from a veil?
Do you think you can tell?

King Herod the great died in 4 BC. One of his sons took over his reign in Jerusalem, Herod Archelaus. Another of his sons, Herod Antipas of the NT, became tetrarch of Galilee and is the one Pilate was acquanted with in the gospels. His nephew, Herod Agrippa, is the one Paul spoke his case in front of in Acts.

Archelaus did a poor job in his short time after his father and the Jews petitioned to have him removed. In AD 6, Judea became a province of the Roman empire. Before this, during Herod's time, it was a client kingdom that paid tribute to Rome. When Archelaus was fired, the empire held a census (AD 6) because it was now a Roman province, and the emperor installed a governor to rule. There was no need for a census while Herod the Great was there paying Rome as a client king. Once he died and his son screwed things up, Rome took over.

The gospel of Matthew depicts a birth of Jesus during Herod the Great's reign, to include the slaughter of the innocents. The gospel of Luke chose to use the census of AD 6 for Jesus' birth. The census was the reason Joseph and Mary went to Jerusalem from Nazareth. This is why Luke doesn't mention the slaughter of children or King Herod the Great. The census was 10 years after Herod the Great died.

The gospels tell a story and develop theology. They are not historical biographies.

Easy to see, then, how there could be some confusion in regards to the Herods.

Biblical distances have always eluded me some, being a child of my time. Joseph and Mary traveling from Nazareth to Jerusalem seems an arduous undertaking in the Bible, while today it is but a afternoon's bike ride or a short trip in a car. Of course back in the day they did not have paved roads with services at exits every mile, engines, gears, air-conditioning, gel-foam seats, and naturally a pregnant woman always complicates things. I try to remember also, that in those days a large majority of people never traveled beyond 15 miles from the place of their birth, excepting nomadic peoples.

Nazareth to Bethlehem is around 80 miles. On foot, that is quite a long journey.

Nearly epic over uncertain paths of semi-broken or rocky ground with a woman expecting at any time.

ARE YOU 100% SURE THAT IF YOU DIED TODAY THAT YOU WOULD GO TO HEAVEN?

There are some things that you should know:

1. Realize that you are a sinner and in need of a Savior:

Ro 3:23 "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;"

Ro 3:10 "As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:"

This all began with the story of Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden. God created them perfect, there was no death or sorrow. God told them not to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. They disobeyed God and as a result, sin entered into the world. The pain which this world sees is the result of sin.

2. Because of our sins, we die both spiritually and physically, but God sent His Son to die so that you can have a chance not to have to go to hell by accepting what He did on the cross for you:

Ro 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."

Ro 5:8 "But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. for us."

Every person who has ever lived is a sinner and is not righteous because we do bad things. A sin is a crime against God, just as if you steal something at the store, it is punishable by going to jail. It's the same thing with sin. Even if we lie one time, the punishment is hell, which is a prison for those who commit crimes against God. That’s because you must be perfect in order to get to heaven. No matter how well you live your life from then on, you have already committed a sin which will be punished if you are not pardoned. If you commit a crime, and then live as a good citizen you still will go to jail for the crime you committed. Right? Just as the president can pardon a crime so you won't go to jail, Jesus can pardon your sins so that you do not go to hell, and can go to heaven when you die.

3. If you will Admit to Jesus Christ that you are a sinner and in need of a Savior, Believe in your heart that He died on the cross and rose from the dead and Accept Him as your Lord and Savior and you will be forgiven and taken to heaven to be with Him when you die.

God bless you Brother. There are mostly heathens here that do not except the Word Of The Lord. They do not read the Bible or except Jesus into there heart. They believe the laws of man are more important then the ones God gave us in the bible.

If you have placed your faith in Jesus Christ and meant it with all of your heart, you are now a child of God and will go to heaven.

Now that you are on your way to heaven, you should attend a bible believing church and follow in baptism.
God bless you Brother. There are mostly heathens here that do not except the Word Of The Lord. They do not read the Bible or except Jesus into there heart. They believe the laws of man are more important then the ones God gave us in the bible.
I believe the laws of the English language are most important of all!

Joh 1:12 “But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name”

Ro 10:9,10 "that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.."

You cannot get to heaven by being a good person, going to church, baptism or any other way other than by turning to Jesus, believing in your heart that He died on the cross and rose from the dead for your sins and placing your trust in Him. While these are good things to do, some people believe that they will get to heaven if they do these things, but the bible says that there is only one way to heaven and that is through receiving what Jesus Christ did on the cross for you.

Will you do that today? If you will, you can be 100% sure that you will go to heaven when you die.

DO YOU BELIEVE THAT JESUS CHRIST DIED ON THE CROSS AND ROSE FROM THE DEAD FOR YOUR SINS?

ARE YOU WILLING TO TURN TO JESUS CHRIST FOR SALVATION?

The most Annoying thing about This sentence is the Capitalization usage.

I just found an old book that prophesied matuski being born of a virgin mother. Haha! There!

It also says he would post on the football guys forums and use a pair of hands as his avatar. Amazing! This book was written hundreds of years ago!
Did it say he could knock out a featherweight champion boxer?
Pfft. Not even people who believe in a virgin birth think that a middle aged medical salesman would have a shot against Pacquiao.
Listen man, don't you want people to believe this guy is a God and worship him? Embellish a little bit for Christ's sake. Besides it said he'd do it in chapter 1 so we better follow through on it.
My name is Matthew after all...

Well somebody certainly has an inflated sense of himself.

Man, this guy was the BC version of George Foreman, eh?

The bible was written by God through 40 men in 3 languages over a 1,500 year period. These men lived in different parts of the world, some were rich, some were poor, some were educated, some were not, most didn't know each other, nor did they necessarily have access to the other's writings and yet it fits together as if it were written by one person, because it was written by God. It has no true errors or contradictions. There are countless prophecies which have been predicted and fulfilled perfectly in scripture. Many of these prophecies were written hundreds or even thousands of years before they were fulfilled.
This exact post can be found on quite a few online forums, all posted in the last few days.

The bible was written by God through 40 men in 3 languages over a 1,500 year period.
It took Him like, what, 6 or so days to make all of creation? Yet when it came to putting words to vellum, not only did God turn into the worst procrastinator ever, but also a sociopath forcing others to do the work for Him. I'm surprised He didn't farm out the 10 commandments, as well.

How come God only chose 3 languages? And why wasn't American one of them?

20 words or less, why should I listen to a bear?
A bear who speaks a human language is certainly worth listening to. If it's just roaring like most bears, then definitely worth ignoring.
So, Yogi, Paddington, and Ted. Oh, and Baloo. Baloo seemed schooled in Taoist thought. Then again so did Pooh Bear. Actually, the more I think about it there are lots of Bears that speak English. Hell even Po, if Pandas can be considered a proper bear.

Hmm, there are more talking bears than I imagined. So maybe they aren't so special. Ignore them.
I wish I could, but I feel compelled, in a Son of Sam sort of way, to listen to and follow all they say. Given that, I am more or less safe listening to Pooh, but Ted could get me in real trouble.

If only one person in the history of the world could wear the number four on their back, would it be Lou Gehrig or Bobby Orr?

I believe each of the Horsemen of the Apocalypse wears it. If others were allowed it would go Gehrig, Orr, Favre, in that order.
