QB Tyrod Taylor, NYJ (4 Viewers)

EDIT: Hey @Joe Bryant, the last time @Fireinside posted was 2020. thread name change plz?

Tyrod Taylor completed 24-of-36 passes for 200 yards in the Giants’ 14-9, Week 6 loss to the Bills, adding 24 yards on five carries.

Taylor couldn’t overcome a costly blunder to end the first half, seeing the Giants fall to 1-5 in the process. New York drove the field to the one yard line with 11 seconds remaining in the second quarter with no timeouts remaining. He called an audible from pass play to a run through Saquon Barkley, only for Barkley to be stuffed at the goal line. Time ran out in the frame with the Giants unable to spike the football, taking away at least three points off the board and potentially seven. Those three lost points proved to be the difference in the game as the Giants again drove the field to end the fourth quarter, failing to convert an untimed play from the one yard line down by five [thanks to an uncalled hold]. A field goal to end the first half and a field goal to end the second half would have resulted in a potential victory had the rest of the game played out the same way. Either way, the Giants move forward to a Week 7 matchup with the Commanders at a paltry 1-5 record, a game Taylor could be tasked with starting considering regular starter Daniel Jones is out with a neck injury.

Just an absolutely brutal no call on the obvious PI/hold on the untimed down, could have been a massive upset win for the Giants.

Tyrod Taylor completed 18-of-29 passes for 279 yards, two touchdowns, and no interceptions in the Giants’ 14-7, Week 7 win over the Commanders.

That’s back-to-back strong outings for Taylor, who looked in control throughout much of Sunday’s win. He and the Giants managed just two touchdowns on the afternoon — both coming in the second quarter — but that was more than enough to down the Commanders and stop a four-game losing streak. Taylor’s first touchdown pass came on a 15-yard strike to Darren Waller, while his second came on a 32-yard catch-and-run effort by Saquon Barkley. Daniel Jones missed Sunday’s game with a neck injury, and could be in line to return in Week 8 against the Jets, but the Giants’ offense has looked much better with Taylor under center. A QB controversy should be brewing in New York, but a four-year, $160 million contract extension could keep that from happening.

As long as Tyrod Taylor is the QB the deep ball is back in NY. People who remember Bills Tyrod Taylor know even at his current age, he still loves to run and throw it deep. Giant fans have seen it back on display the last 2 games, and that makes Hyatt, Slayton and Waller more relevant. Taylor has no issues hunting the deep shot or throwing 50/50 balls.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports Tyrod Taylor (ribs) has been released from the hospital and is considered week-to-week.

We still don’t know the severity of Taylor’s injury, but the veteran signal-caller is a near lock to miss Week 9’s matchup against the Raiders. Daniel Jones (neck) has already been named as the starter for next week and is expected to practice when the team takes the field on Wednesday, but the Giants have a hole to fill at quarterback after Tommy DeVito threw for negative yards in his NFL debut. We’d expect the Giants to bring in a veteran over the next few days while Taylor recovers from his injury.

Giants QB Tyrod Taylor will start in Week 17 against the Rams.

This doesn’t come as much of a surprise after Taylor replaced Tommy DeVito in Week 16 and completed 7-of-16 passes for 133 yards, a touchdown and an interception in the Giants’ 33-25 loss to the Eagles. However, Brian Daboll made the decision official on Wednesday morning. While Taylor may not be as exciting a choice as the underdog DeVito, he’s a smart, veteran quarterback who doesn’t take unnecessary chances and can still add value with his legs. Taylor has favored Darius Slayton when he’s played this year and often works underneath to his tight ends, so this could lead to a slight bump in value for Darren Waller as well.
