One per league perhaps?I was thinking of firing up an EPL game day thread. We could use it to discuss proposed lineups and stuff. Thoughts?
Already too many threads, but less EPL chat in here is always goodI was thinking of firing up an EPL game day thread. We could use it to discuss proposed lineups and stuff. Thoughts?
Wijnaldum, Lallana, Coutinho, Mane, Firmino -- that's a lot of attacking players. Should be entertaining at least.
Woa, big fella...it was Arsenal, without Koscielny & Mertersaker...but they were beautifully taken goals. Don't think "you're" gonna see that much space in many other games. They looked woeful in the first half...except for Miralem Coutinho's free kick. Plus, Arsene. What a huge win for Liverpool. Defensive issues abound but we are gonna be scary good on offense.
No, he's right - United are going to win the league.Woa, big fella...it was Arsenal, without Koscielny & Mertersaker...but they were beautifully taken goals. Everywhere. Nowhere.I'm very confused about where I'm supposed to talk soccer. Hold me, Gator.
Who needs a striker when he can play Alexis and Walcott out of position. The beauty is, now Wenger is going to use this game to show that he does not need to go buy a striker...
Everywhere...it's about time we took over this forumI'm very confused about where I'm supposed to talk soccer. Hold me, Gator.
Now that is truly Kafkaesque...(the literal(?) version)Everywhere. Nowhere.
Do you think subsequent "replays" would take about a minute? Nay! I say thee, Nay!This probably belongs in the Soccer DVR thread - but I saw this over the weekend:
First use of Video Replay in a Professional (any?) soccer game
Took about a minute, and resulted in a red card.
Even if I put on my @shader cap, and think about radical changes - I don't think video replay belongs with the official on the field. I can see a use where you have a video official - but I am not really sure what that official really needs to do. Use the goal technology - everything else is better left with an official in real time - as long as they are consistent.Do you think subsequent "replays" would take about a minute? Nay! Out?Speaking of missing players, how long is Ozil out for?
Blow meAlready too many threads, but less EPL chat in here is always good
I seriously agree...I'd hate to see the ebb & flow of soccer restricted. It's part of the attraction; Shakespearen "human frailty" ( God knows, there's plenty of that; on the players' part) combined with tragic error on the "black&white arbiters" of the game... that's what makes it so enjoyable. TLR=NO COMMERCIALS!!Even if I put on my @shader cap, and think about radical changes - I don't think video replay belongs with the official on the field. Yeah, hold onto that.#

Bayern win 2-0. Good start for Ancelotti, Pep lost this trophy all three seasons.DFB Supercup is on FS1 this afternoon. Bayern v Dortmund to kick off the season.
Very entertaining match to start the season. 2-0 was a little unfair to Dortmund but I just love how they play - pushing so many guys forward.Bayern win 2-0. Good start for Ancelotti, Pep lost this trophy all three seasons.
I'm always a sucker for legitimate/true fan support ...
I agree on all parts. It was amazing to see the post game stats and see Bayern only had 45% possession.Very entertaining match to start the season. 2-0 was a little unfair to Dortmund but I just love how they play - pushing so many guys forward.Bayern win 2-0. True. Not sure about very well, but he was fine sitting in the role. Solid/controlled game, but do you really want him as your holding MF when you have options that give you that and more?Felllaini did exactly what he was asked to do. And exactly what United will need from him if they play Pogba. It was Bournemouth, but you want you DM to snuff out chances, and that's what he did. Very well, IMO.

On what I knew of the players at the beginning of the season, I would have anticipated Schneiderlin in that role. But Mourinho chose Fellaini, and was rewarded with a performance that everyone would have agreed was excellent if it had been turned in by Schneiderlin. It's always been hard to evaluate Fellaini in that role because he never really fully committed to playing it. If Mourinho can get him to buy in, he solidifies a position where I felt United lacked depth.True. Not sure about very well, but he was fine sitting in the role. Schneiderlin - More pace, stronger defender
Carrick - Better passer, more discipline
