Seahawks have given third-round pick C.J. Prosise reps with the wide receivers at rookie camp.
It's not because Prosise is converting back to his early-college position, but more a testament to his versatility. Coach Pete Carroll said Prosise "looked totally comfortable" at wideout and has "tremendous range in ability." Prosise averaged 6.6 yards per carry in his final year at Notre Dame and is ready to make a pass-catching impact in the NFL. He'll have a role right off the bat.

ND line was overwhelmed most of the game. I thought Prosise play was fine under the circumstances. If Prosise can consistently make the right decisions, I think his athletic prowess will allow him to overtake Rawls. Not an unbiased opinion as I've drafted Prosise twice already.Just watched his game vs Clemson to contrast with Henry, whose game against Clemson I also watched. And I saw no wiggle or vision, just an upright speedster, and he looked far worse than Henry.
John Boyle of the Seahawks' website expects rookie C.J. Prosise to have a "significant role" as Seattle's third-down running back.
Boyle has pegged Prosise for the old Fred Jackson role, especially when the Seahawks are in up-tempo offense. Jackson handled 299 snaps and 64 touches last season. Prosise is 13 years younger than Jackson and obviously better suited for a larger workload. In fantasy leagues, Prosise's floor should be an RB4 with low-level flex value. And we wouldn't rule out the possibility he challenges still-injured Thomas Rawls (ankle) for the Seahawks' starting job.

Seahawks third-round RB C.J. Prosise missed "most" of the offseason program with a hip issue.
Coach Pete Carroll said the team is anxious to see more of Prosise, but confirmed they have a "big plan" for him. "He is a very natural football player, he is a tremendous athlete, he catches the ball well, he runs good routes, he does a lot of really cool things and we know he is an explosive runner," Carroll said. "We are really excited about it, but we are going to need to have to have a really good camp for him." Prosise has the inside track to third-down duties.

C.J. Prosise will miss the next 7-10 days of training camp with a hamstring strain.
Coach Pete Carroll called it a "first-degree" strain -- the mildest kind -- but any lost time for Prosise is a missed opportunity in a highly competitive backfield. With Thomas Rawls (ankle) still on active/PUP, more reps will go to a reportedly more-mature Christine Michael in addition to rookies Alex Collins and Zac Brooks. Collins could end up carrying a heavy load in preseason games.

Speaking Tuesday, Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said C.J. Prosise (hamstring) is falling behind.
"He's missed a ton, there's no other way to put it," Carroll said. Prosise will miss the Seahawks' preseason opener. Prosise is ticketed for third-down duties, but they could come up for grabs if he misses much more time in a backfield that isn't short on bodies. Working in Prosise's favor is that, at least on paper, he's by far the most natural fit for Fred Jackson's 2015 role.

KJR Seattle's Curtis Crabtree believes third-rounder C.J. Prosise's health -- or lack thereof -- has put him in danger of falling out of the Seahawks' backfield rotation.
In a roster breakdown, Crabtree listed Prosise as on the "bubble," but it doesn't seem to be as grave as that. Prosise simply hasn't been able to stay healthy since he was picked 90th overall in April, battling a hip flexor in the spring and now missing two weeks with a hamstring injury. Prosise returned to practice the past two days, but he again required an ice pack on the hammy Tuesday. Christine Michael and Alex Collins have passed Prosise on the depth chart.

Seahawks RB C.J. Prosise is expected to see time in Thursday's preseason game.
The third-round rookie missed Seattle's first two exhibition games. Prosise had been ticketed for third-down duties, but has since been passed up by a resurgent Christine Michael. Prosise isn't on the re-draft radar for Week 1.

C.J. Prosise rushed four times for 23 yards in his preseason debut Thursday night.
Although he didn't quite stuff the stat sheet, this was a big step forward for Prosise after an injury-plagued spring and beginning to camp. He worked as the Seahawks' first-team third-down back behind Christine Michael, and also mixed in on some second-and-long plays. Neither Michael nor Thomas Rawls is adept in the passing game, so Prosise could have a Week 1 role. Prosise should be owned in all Dynasty leagues and belongs on re-draft watch lists.

I think you got a potential steal getting him at the end of your draft. Rawls presents a formidable road block to Prosise getting starter's carries for the foreseeable future, and CMike is finally living up to some of the hype lauded upon him, but Prosise could step in quickly to a third-down role, giving him some PPR value, and he has the look of someone who could potentially develop into an every-down back. Also, Rawls' violent running style could expose him to continued injury. Finally, Rawls and CMike each have had some off-field issues in the past, and while they appear to have matured, it is a factor to keep in mind.Picked this guy up at the end of my dynasty/keeper league draft as a potential stash away.
Especially after missing some valuable camp time, he's got Rawls and Michael ahead of him and also and also have to fight off Collins?
It'll probably have to take another injury to Rawls for him to get meaningful playing time, but what do people now think of his re-draft and dynasty prospects?
Hard to say. Worth stashing and seeing what happens.Picked this guy up at the end of my dynasty/keeper league draft as a potential stash away.

I fear Christine Michael will need to fumble a bunch of times, get hurt or miss a team meeting or two for Prosise to gain relevance. Wait... maybe as a 3rd down back no matter what. I like his talent so I guess as a bench spec, what the heck. What do you guys think of Prosise as an end of the bench spec pick up with Rawls out for a while?
Thinking of dropping Jonathan Grimes or Tyler Ervin (potential handcuff to my Miller) for him.
... and soon so will Rawls, it sure sounds like.Looks like he's starting to get some run
Yep. He is competing for theirs though.I don't think Michael, Rawls or Collins are even competing for the same touches Prosise will be getting.
For context the Seahawks were also behind in the score which means they wanted to use their receiving RB specialist more.Last week Michael saw his lowest snap percentage (52%) on the season. Prosise played on 43% of the snaps, a bump up for the 25% he saw the previous week. Michael was utilized 12 times (also a season low), Prosise 8 times.
Prosise definitely passes the eye test and optimally this backfield should be a Rawls/Prosise timeshare IMO. Regardless, I think this guy needs to be grabbed with the upside that Rawls doesn't come back near full health.
Good points. I'd be interested to see the Spiller usage (or the combined Spiller/Prosise) usage in game where SEA was trailing prior to this week. For context the Seahawks were also behind in the score which means they wanted to use their receiving RB specialist more.
Perhaps there will be a changing of the guard moving forward but I would think they still plan to play good defense and play with a lead, which could mean more playing time for Michael/Rawls as long as they can keep a lead.
While he had a good game receiving, keep in mind they were playing against the Saints and they still lost the game.
That might be worth looking into.RenegadeRoy said:Good points. I'd be interested to see the Spiller usage (or the combined Spiller/Prosise) usage in game where SEA was trailing prior to this week.
Worth a bench spot in standard 12+ imo.Definitely worth a bench stash in PPR, could prove to be a very useful asset down the stretch.
There's some nice PPR appeal here. FJax had 40 targets last year with Lynch in front of him. I could see Prosise getting quite a bit more opportunity with only CMike and Rawls in his way. I'm excited to see Prosise does going forward.RenegadeRoy said:Good points. Seattle led the entire game until 12:24 left in the 4th. They were playing from the lead the first 47 minutes.Biabreakable said:For context the Seahawks were also behind in the score which means they wanted to use their receiving RB specialist more.

Nice - maybe just found my flex in a badly needed week with so many byes.Pete Carroll on RB C.J. Prosise playing on other than 3rd downs: "I think you are going to see it...We are excited to see more" #Seahawks

The fact Pete has said something about this twice is really a good sign IMO.Nice - maybe

True, even if he truly stays in the 3rd down role, that still can provide some value in PPR leagues this week and beyond. Wilson doesn't seem to be airing it out much thus far this year. The fact Pete has said something about this twice is really a good sign IMO.
If he just gave us a canned response yesterday, he could have just beat around the bush or been more tactful in his response today to confirm CJPs presumed 3rd down role. Instead he gives us even more info on CJPs expanded role.
Glad I scooped yesterday after I saw Pete's first response.
I mean, don't get me wrong, we all know coaches can't be trusted. But CJPs perceived value is higher to me than it was just yesterday.
Here is another tweet from a dude to move the potential train along.True, even if he truly stays in the 3rd down role, that still can provide some value in PPR leagues this week and beyond. Wilson doesn't seem to be airing it out much thus far this year.

Telling comment from Carroll on C.J. Prosise...Expect to see a lot more of him Monday as an every down back.

I have no idea what his relation is to the Seahawks but he has 16k Twitter followers and looks to do sports radio in Seattle.
