Is the other one "Picture This"? If so, then it might have something to do with Jimmi Destri's having written or co-written both of them.

It looks like all the tracks except 11:59 and Pretty Baby appear on Blondie compilation albums so it's possible to piece together almost the entire album.

Band politics seem kind of silly when the people concerned are all old enough for Medicare but I guess money still talks.

Tell that to John Fogerty. And band politics are always silly.

thanks Eephus
:goodposting:

thanks for getting this organized, and thanks to the other drafter for making it interesting- I'm not a big fan of most of what you guys took, but I've enjoyed stretching my usual listening back to a lot of oldies as well as a lot of stuff I've just never heard.

I know I'm citing myself but after listening to a couple of mixes, I think 12 songs is pretty close to optimal. The 45-50 minute runtime is around album length so I can consume them in a single sitting. The one-word title/alphabet draft was fun but man, those mixes are like Use Your Illusion parts 1 and 2.

It's mostly because of the individuals involved but I also think the shorter draft maintained interest a bit better. The thread mostly stayed on the front page and we didn't have anybody quit on us.

Finally decided on a mixlist. :lmao:

Murderers

Molly

Levels

Shut Up And Dance

July, July

Dog Days Are Over

Geronimo

Pyro

If I Had $1,000,000

Cubs in Five

The Devil Went Down to Georgia

Magic No. 9

At work and can't get to Spotify, but I'll get a playlist up tonight.

Agreed. My thought listening to these mixes was about the same -15song/1hour would be my optimal. Those alphabet ones were great, but way too long.

Would it be fun or too difficult to make draft lengths fit into a CD? ~48 minutes or an hour?

we did this for our decade drafts. Our mixes had to fit on a cassette, cd, whatever the decade called for. It was interesting because I think a few too a lot of 2min songs, and others were taking 10+min epics.

Could someone spotify my #### for me so you all have to listen to it?

Gracias.
I'll do it. Do you have the tracks listed in order somewhere?
4th Of July - Soungarden

Pharaohs - SBTRKT

King Of Pain - The Police

This Love Is Here To Stay - Thomas Dybdahl

As Long As I Can See The Light - Creedence Clearwater Revival

Let Me Know - Roisin Murphy

Cecil Taylor - Jonathan Wilson

Underbart - Little Dragon

Charlie Freak - Steely Dan

Journey To Arhnhemland - Jamiroquai

6 Underground - Sneaker Pimps

Red Red Wine - The Replacements

Not much sense to it, but there you are.

Shalom

Gr00vus Mix

That was a lot of fun, thanks for having me. I would definitely be interested in another. Hopefully I have time to dig into the playlists this weekend. I'm going to crack a beer and check at least one out now.

Ideas for future categories

-songs that mention famous pieces of literature or literary characters

- songs that mention specific places (not city or country, but like a specific building, bridge, bar, etc.) Not sure on the exact wording.

- Songs with directions in the title (north, left, etc)

- Songs by bands where one of the band members is much more famous as a solo act than the band was.

Moving Stone Coyotes to La Familia.

Female Artist - Patricia Vonne - Texas Burning. Sheryl Crow meets Tex-Mex in pleasing style. While not fancy, Patricia occasionally hits notes that make me tingle.

Mulligan time, sorry Townes, you're not meant for this universe. Opening for drug/alcohol category.

Blue Agave - Cadillac Hitmen

Now, I don't want two Cadillac Hitmen songs on my roster, so I'm throwing New Hampshire back and will pick anther state song. Sincerest apologies from moi if I blocked anyone from drafting their favorite New Hampshire band.

ETA: Apparently the link above throws up what is essentially a marketing splash page prompting me to download Spotify, which I already have installed.

Thanks for the fertilizer, Spotify.

Agree, I've listened to 2 mixes already and neither felt like a chore. When I get some more time I'll report on each.
