The Official Kicker (K) Thread (1 Viewer)

Could've had Aubrey off WW, but chose Fairbairn and his 1pt instead because I liked his playoff schedule more
same here
:hey:me too.

The last few weeks with some byes behind us, I was looking to settle into more of a long-term relationship. I picked up Aubrey in the 3 leagues where he was dropped for his bye 👯‍♂️🥳, but I picked up Fairbairn in 3 other leagues . Wow, Houston really laid an egg. Probably back to streaming there.

I think I'm the curse of kickers this season, you might want to fade me. Results so far this season:

W1: Ryland 2 points
W2: Ryland 6 points
W3: Dicker 4 points
W4: McPherson 3 points
W5: Maher 2 points
W6: Moody 5 points

That's 22 points from kicker, which would be K33 in my league.

I'm sticking with Moody this week FYSA.

My team is stacked at WR\RB with decent QB and RB and I'm 1-5. I hate kickers. One of my 2 leagues dropped them and I love that league so much more.
W7: Moody 7 points
W8: Moody 5 points

The curse has continued. Up to 34 points from kicker position, the 32nd best kicker so far is Ryland with 44 points. So my picks have been 10 points worse than just sticking with the absolute worst starting kicker throughout.

Playing Grupe this week, so be warned, he will probably implode.

Kinda funny to read.

played Grupe last week & sticking with him

but might pivot to McManus ROS

I'm on Grupe too. Kicks in a dome almost every week.

well if that's our criteria, Patterson is in a dome or a retractable roof stadium 8 of the Lions last 9 games

(don't do it, dude missed a 26 yarder on MNF and is shaky af....plus most weeks Dan Campbell prefers to go for it on 4th down - Detroit is 28th in FGA)

I had been riding Moody for weeks, like since week 2 or 3. Didn't like the matchup last week and dropped him for Dicker. worked out well. Saw McPherson on our wire and see he is ranked like Top 5 everywhere this week so I will try him out. I had McPherson a large chunk of last year and liked what I saw. Maybe this offense turns it around.

Playing Grupe this week,

he’s legit IMO
You like him over Hopkins? Considering making this move rn.

ECR is always late to true up, rn Hopkins is way higher. I like Grupe but tossing him back and using McManus ROS - unless the Saints rookie goes off this weekend & changes my mind.

Did anyone see Grupe in college at Notre Dame? I don't follow CFB very closely other than draft prep.

Good question. I’m sitting in dynasty with Bass but picked up Hopkins and now holding two kickers. I don’t like holding two kickers but don’t want to drop bass despite Hopkins probably being better right now. Grupe, McManus and a few other decent options sit on the wire 🤷‍♂️

Grupe in the mix for me. It's either him, McPherson, or Dicker.

Anyone play the game every week of dumping your K every week (to clear a roster spot) and pick a K up last second?

I do it every week. Usually by the end of the week, roster issues take care of themselves (i.e. someone injured, can be dropped, etc.), then check weather, and there are usually 3-4 guys sitting there in waivers that are universally ranked top 10.

Don't understand why anyone hangs onto a kicker. Random number generators for the most part.

Decided to go with Hopkins since Cleveland attempts the second most outside of the Rams. And they trust him from deep.

55 yarder for Grupe

I held McManus through the bye (good schedule) but might just keep the ND kid

still gotta cover a bye but that’s next week’s problem

8 points from Grupe this week is a season high for me, but I'll say the curse still continues. I'm now at 42 points from the kicker position which is lower than 32 kickers were before today's games began.

Probably sticking with Grupe next week so continue to be warned.

This guy is a data nerd who hangs out at r/FantasyFootball on Reddit. SubertADown is where his premium content is found (link above.)

Weekly he puts out a Kicker post on Reddit (Here's The Kicker) which I have found beats 99% of experts you'll find on FantasyPros weekly Expert Consensus Rankings.

As for your specific Q, found this from his Week 2 post:

This is an indicator that the number / distance of field goals has not done much to imply long field goal potential. This makes the kicker more dependent on game script.

You sent me down a rabbit hole of craziness. That website and information is so good and detailed it almost doesn't make sense. Ha ha

Oh yeah, if you love advanced statistical analysis he is here for it.

I greatly appreciate the transparency he demonstrates by letting you see all the sausage making that goes into it, and he is constantly tweaking his methodology based on actual results and his predictive accuracy. If a method proves to not be sticky he'll eliminate the white noise and optimize the model. Imagine if all the X-spurts putting out rankings published their accuracy and made themselves accountable.

Butker worth holding through the bye in a shallow league with limited bench space, or do I drop and try to get him or Elliott back for week 11? Highest scoring free agents for the season are Hopkins, Gay, Grupe and McManus

I'd let him go, Grupe has been very consistent

Downside being he's on a bye Week 11 so you'll be back in this thread next week

McManus has been on a tear but slightly worse schedule ROS (personally I don't pay attention too much to FFA but FGA allowed is OKish for predictive value)

oh

Well if that works out great. Those two are kind of have inelastic demand - they'll likely get picked up by someone with a higher WW priority bc of name recognition. Was just thinking you might want a Plan B.

If you do, McManus, Folk, Zuerlein (& Grupe) all have virtually identical production and are lightly held.

Been holding Bass (already have Dustin) but I think I'm ready to drop him and only carry Dustin the rest of the way, so I can get more production from a WR or RB position. Unsure though because there are those weeks Bass has had in the past in his career where he goes off. This week would be a perfect example of that happening. Guess I'm tired of waiting for him to pop though.

Bass was dropped in one of my leagues. I picked him up, dropped Grupe.

Have to think BUF gets it together at home against a DEN crud offense heading east. Matchup doesn't get much better than that.

BUF offense should be able to move the ball plenty although they seem a bit clunky and could break down in the redzone. Fine with me and Bass.

McPherson also dropped. Don't love the matchup vs HOU though.

Considering adding Patterson and dropping McLaughlin. Both only have 1 potential bad weather game. There isn't much churn in my league, and you can't pick up a player once you drop him.

I'm not sure how the CBSSPORTS algorithm works, but they have Patterson with only a 6 pt advantage ROS. The dome and DET offense makes a difference. But McLauglin has been money on those 50+ kicks...

I think both are bottom quartile options but Patterson has several factors working against him.

He does not have a strong leg - the P handles kickoffs, and anything over 45 is an adventure. He is not in any way clutch. If they gotta have it, no one feels confident he'll deliver. MCDC eschews long FGs and goes for it on 4th down, more than any other head coach. It would surprise no one if they looked for an upgrade off the street before the stretch run.

just my :2cents:

Added a couple PPR insurance RBs this week, guys I'll probably never start but give me an option if my top 4 have an injury (Hall-Pacheco-Gibbs-Warren); dropped McManus and kept Grupe.

Second guessing myself now. Think it was the right move for this week and given our league typically only rosters 12-13 total kickers I can easily cover his Week 11 bye with my next guy (I change kickers like socks.)

Still....aw I hate nagging feelings.

So far, Nick Folk and Harrison Butker haven't missed a game, and are perfect in FG's & EP's. Only Gary Anderson (1998) and Mike Vanderjagt (2003) have ever had perfect seasons.

T. Bass owner here...

...and not liking the wind Monday night.

I saw one forecast which said winds of 7 mph gusts to 15 (neither of which is an issue)

next one I looked at:

Monday Night
Partly cloudy, with a low around 37. Breezy, with a west wind 16 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 32 mph.

yeah i'd be looking at other options if the latter is correct

Just a PSA that Fairbairn (HOU) is listed as out this wknd but, according to MFL, expected back next wknd. I bring this up specifically for owners to monitor as the week progresses since some like me (Grupe, NO) may have bye week issues coming.
