TE Pat Freiermuth, PIT (3 Viewers)

Pat Freiermuth (concussion) practiced in full Wednesday.

The fact that Freiermuth was able to practice in full just a few days after entering the protocol is a great sign for his availability this week. With Eric Ebron sidelined and getting a great matchup against the Ravens, Freiermuth will be a TE1 this week.

Steelers TE Pat Freiermuth (concussion) remained "full" on Thursday.

Barring an extremely unlikely setback, Freiermuth will be out there against a Ravens defense that has been coughing up major fantasy points up the seam all season long. Up to five touchdowns over his past five games while consistently drawing 6-8 targets, Freiermuth has established himself as a mid-range TE1, one who can even be FLEXed if you have another top-eight option at tight end.

Had to play this guy in a must-win  game with Waller still a bit questionable.

and OF COURSE I'm taking a first  half zero. :ptts:

edit: ok, looks like he caught a pass to end the half.

Pat Freiermuth caught 2-of-3 targets for 32 yards in a touchdown in Pittsburgh's Week 14 loss to Minnesota.

Freiermuth's targets over the last three games: 4, 4, 3. This despite very pass-friendly game scripts. That's no slam on Freiermuth, just as it's not a slam on Kyle Pitts -- rookie tight ends don't have it easy. Freiermuth's touchdown was bully-balled as he separated from a corner at the top of his route and coasted into the end zone. A second would-be touchdown that would have pulled Pittsburgh within a two-point attempt of tying the game was defensed by a pair of Vikings defenders -- it would have been an amazing catch had the rookie held on. Freiermuth remains near the TE1 line for Week 15 against the Titans, but those target counts are rough to bank on.

Now tied with Dawson & Henry for most receiving TDs amongst TEs (7)

Came pretty close to making it 8 at the end

Posted it in the game thread...those 3 are the Tonyan's of this year.  TD dependent...but keep producing.  Sure...low floors when they don't score...but most TE's have a low floor it seems this year.  I am rolling with him over Gesicki likely the rest of the year.

I think Knox is way better than a Tonyan. He has some high yardage games, but some other games are weird circumstances (got hurt, blizzard, etc.)

He was trending way up in the yardage department, so don't be surprised if he sustains WR2/WR3 yards going forward. He's probably the 2nd target now

He has 2 high yardage games all year.  (Colts game and KC).   Every other game under 50 yards).  His stat lines look eerily similar to Tonyan last year

Knox game log

Tonyan 2020 game log

Sure...I think Knox is a better player...but FF wise...he is TD dependent similar to the other guys mentioned and similar to what Tonyan was last year.

I'll see ya back here when Knox is 5-60 or 6-70 this weekend lol
He could be...just going by what he has done so far.  Id rather have Knox in the leauge I have Muth...trust the Offense and QB more.  He has talent...and if he goes for 60 or 70...good for him.

Pat Freiermuth (concussion) is not practicing Thursday for the second consecutive day.

With two concussions in a month, it's hard to believe that Freiermuth will be suiting up against the Chiefs on Sunday. If he does practice Friday, he may have a chance. It will be a slight boost for Diontae Johnson and whichever Pittsburgh receivers they feel like playing over Chase Claypool if Freiermuth doesn't play.

Pat Freiermuth (concussion) was ruled out of Week 16 against the Chiefs.

It is not a surprise considering this is Freiermuth's second concussion in the last month. Perhaps Zach Gentry has some deep-league appeal with Freiermuth out, but fantasy players will likely be better off looking elsewhere.

Pat Freiermuth caught 5-of-6 targets for 22 yards in the Steelers' Week 17 win over the Browns.

Diontae Johnson caught the Steelers' lone touchdown through the air via a five-yard quick slant. A red-zone specialist, Freiermuth is a touchdown-or-bust TE1/2 ahead of a Week 18 date with the Ravens' lackluster pass defense. Freiermuth has seven touchdown grabs as a rookie.

The Athletic's Mark Kaboly writes of Pat Freiermuth's season-high receiving yardage of 58 in 2021: "With Eric Ebron gone, that number will go up."

"[Freiermuth] will be a top-10 tight end in the NFL, or maybe higher, at the end of the season," Kaboly notes. Ebron had just 84 receiving yards last year, so it's not like he was the primary culprit holding Freiermuth back from a bigger role. But it is possible that he takes a second-year leap and overtakes Chase Claypool as the No. 2 fantasy target on Pittsburgh's radar. He also is the main red zone threat for the Steelers as he had 20 targets and seven scores despite playing only 62% of the snaps. Diontae Johnson led the team with 21 red zone targets, but in 91% of the snaps.

Pat Freiermuth caught 5-of-10 targets for 75 yards in the Steelers' Week 1 win over the Bengals.

Freiermuth led Pittsburgh in yards from scrimmage, which is both encouraging for the rookie and a concerning sign for the Steelers offense. Only Diontae Johnson (12) was more targeted than the tight end. Mitch Trubisky could continue to lean on Freiermuth, making him a low-end TE1 against the Patriots in Week 2. However, with Claypool and Pickens both likely to be involved Freiermuth could disappoint without a TD.

Pat Freiermuth caught 2-of-4 targets for 41 yards in the Steelers' Week 3 loss to the Browns.

Freiermuth entered the evening with nine grabs through two games but didn't make his first catch until the 3:07 mark of the fourth quarter. His second and final reception came one minute later. With Mitchell Trubisky struggling to generate offense and sustain drives, Freiermuth had zero targets before the final frame. Freiermuth will offer decent weekly touchdown odds and will have the occasional 6-7 catch effort, but Trubisky is severely capping his upside. Even for plus matchups like Week 4 against the Jets, Freiermuth is best treated as a back-end TE1.

Dude played secondary tackle most of the game to help out that trash line. Really hurt his ability to get out into routes.

Perhaps those last couple plays to Freiermuth will open things back up moving forward.
I think they know he’s a good receiver but getting Pickens into more routes may lead to him having to help the OL more. Hopefully this was just utilized more because of Myles Garrett.

Trubisky is also trash. I suspect when Pickett finally gets in there we’ll see more check downs to Najee and Freiermuth as well.

Agreed. The first real downfield route I saw him run he was wide open and Mitch sailed it a mile over his head. And Pat isn’t short!

Pat Freiermuth caught 8-of-9 targets for 75 yards in the Steelers' Week 7 loss to the Dolphins.

Freiermuth returned from a missed game due to a concussion to lead the Steelers in receiving in Week 7. The big-bodied, dynamic tight end put his chemistry with rookie quarterback Kenny Pickett on full display when it mattered most, catching four of his eight receptions on the final drive of the game. Fantasy managers can count of Freiermuth as a locked-in TE1 moving forward, even with a difficult test against the undefeated Eagles on tap in Week 8.

Steelers coach Mike Tomlin suggested Pat Freiermuth could see more work following the Chase Claypool trade.

Asked about how the offense will change with Claypool gone, Tomlin said he does not expect it to because Freiermuth can handle the targets in the middle of the field. Freiermuth was already averaging nearly seven targets a game with Claypool in the lineup, and it sounds like he could add a couple to that total moving forward. He should be a solid TE1 option the rest of the way.

How we feeling about Muth's ROS outlook?

Claypool trade opens up a decent amount of additional targets that Tomlin suggests could be coming his way. Seems to have some chemistry with Pickett. Pitt offense is horrible though so red zone opportunities might not be plentiful.

Is a top 5-6 finish possibly in range, or is he likely to settle around or possibly be passed by a guy like Dulcich?

I do think Freiermuth is in that range ROS and Dulcich close behind, but could also become Russell's #1 weapon too. I had a choice and decided to stay with Muth.

Yeah, its a close call and probably cant go wrong either way. Dulcich's appeal is a bit of the unknown of the upside. And yes, it seems he could possibly become the #1 weapon there as Russ has clearly shown an affinity for him and it's rendered Sutton somewhat useless. Jeudy we all know has stone hands so his days as the "top target" are probably numbered. Denver pass schedule down the stretch is very soft as well. Still, Muth is definitely more of the known quantity. He had a real nose for the end zone last season, so hopefully some TDs are on the way. Getting Pitt to the redzone is the challenge of course.

Pat Freiermuth (foot) did not practice on Thursday.

While Freiermuth told ESPN's Brooke Pryor that he expects to play in Week 15, he'll almost certainly be on the questionable line after back-to-back DNPs. Friday's session will give us a lot more clarity on if he'll play or not, but we'd lean towards him being truly questionable at this point.

Steelers HC Mike Tomlin said Pat Freiermuth suffered a non-surgical MCL sprain in Sunday's win over the Browns.

Freiermuth had his leg rolled up in the fourth quarter while engaged in a block, and found himself in the Steelers' medical tent soon after. This is about as good of news as the Steelers could hope for as they now head into the offseason and look to build on their 9-8 season under first-year starter Kenny Pickett. Freiermuth totaled 63 receptions for 732 yards and two touchdowns in his second season and has quickly turned into one of the more reliable pass-catching tight ends in the league.

Steelers TE Pat Freiermuth (knee) expects to be ready for the start of the preseason.

Freiermuth practied in Phase 3 of the Steelers' OTAs. The third-year tight end looks on track to be fully cleared in August. Freiermuth, a 2021 second-round pick, is returning from his first major injury but has missed time the last two seasons to concussions. Coming off injury plus the addition of rookie TE Darnell Washington as the Steelers' new TE2 this offseason could lead to lower snap rates for Freiermuth in 2023.

Pat Freiermuth caught 1-of-4 targets for three yards and a touchdown in the Steelers’ Week 1 loss to the 49ers.

Freiermuth was also in and out of the game with a “chest” injury. That can sometimes mean pec or oblique. He did finish the contest out, however. Freiermuth made his lone grab count, though four targets isn’t going to cut it, especially when Kenny Pickett is attempting 46 passes. Especially with Diontae Johnson likely to be sidelined with a hamstring injury, expect more looks for Freiermuth in Week 2 against the Browns.

Any other Freirmuth owners here concerned or not? Having the MNF game sucks when someone is this questionable and I have no backup TE.
