ROUND BY ROUND TARGETS > Who's your guy? (1 Viewer)

Trying something a little different here... I've found that in draft prep it helps to think ahead a bit and have a rough idea of what guys I like to target in certain rounds. Leagues vary, but based off MFL ADP, who do you like in each round range..... Let's assume 10T league for simplicity.

For me, it's PPR...

1st: Best available
2nd: Challenging options this year IMO. I like RB given the breadth of WR talent below. Howard (RB) if early or Gronk (TE) if later.
3rd: Also not loving much in this group. I like Dez or Demarco if I can get them here.
4th: Pryor WR is tempting here... maybe in the later half. Ducking Lynch and Allen.
5th: LIking WR in this range: Crabtree/Hill/D Adams all have nice upside
6th: More WR love here: Edelman has another year in him, as does Fitz. Diggs should outperform here. Ducking Luck.
7th: Couple RBs I like here in Ware / Abdullah. Anderson/Ingram both are risky. Eifert is tempting. Snead/Sanders both stand out at WR here IMO.
8th Mariota/Newton start to get tempting if waiting on QB. Powell is my guy at RB here.
9th: Ertz or Walker at TE if I've not grabbed one. Garcon/Martin are my WR/RB if that's what I'm going for here.
10th: WR love here with Cobb/DJax/TyWilliams. One of those guys provide some nice depth IMO.
11th Gore / West / Kelley provide some high floor / low ceiling RB depth in this range. Perhaps Duke Johnson as well.
12th: Kinda a "last startable call" window here. Ebron/Doyle at TE, Wentz/Dalton/Manning at QB.

Guys I like Late:

What are you guys thinking?

1st round depends on my spot so I'll agree BPA there.  Bell, DJ, the WR's, and Zeke in that order is preferable.

2nd - Again depends on the spot I'm drafting at but I'll go with Howard, Gordon, Hilton or Gurley

3rd - Dez, Gronk, Shady, Jordy, DT are the main targets for me there

4th - Baldwin or Keenan

5th - Martavis

6th - Russell Wilson or Eifert

7th - Ty Montgomery

8th - Duke Johnson

9th - D'onte Foreman

10th - Rawls, Thielen, Marlon Mack depending on how the team has shaken out so far

11th - Meredith

12th - Marqise Lee

Those are some of my targets for those spots.  Obviously it depends on who's there and how the draft has fallen but those are some of my main targets

I do 14 T, Superflex, 16 rds - Using the DD, here is what I have been going with (Drafting 2nd OVR).

1st - BPA (Since we can start 2 QB, I've deciding between ARod/Brady/Bell)

2nd - RB/WR (I've been looking at RB Gurley/Fournette or WR TY Hilton/D Bryant in this range - also kicking around Gronk - staying away from Lamar Miller)

3rd - RB/WR (Whichever position I didn't take in the 2nd - normally Fournette if still available or Lynch @ RB or TY/De Thomas/Dez or  if I took Gronk then BPA)

4th - RB/WR (Normally I end up with Emmanuel Sanders/L Fitzgerald here - I'd be thrilled if I ended up with Dalvin Cook or Christian McCaffrey here - staying away from RB's with murky RBBC situations.)

5th - In my league, our keepers go in this slot (I am keeping M.Thomas)

6th - I end up with my 3rd WR here or TE if I didn't take Gronk - I like Diggs/Desean Jackson here. - TE-wise I've been trying to get Eifert, Graham or Delanie Walker here.

7th - I try and end up with a RB here, like Joe Mixon, Doug Martin or another QB (since i can start 2) - normally looking at Jay Cutler/Jared Goff/Brian Hoyer.

8th - Typically WR here - someone that is a good 4th WR like Adam Thielen or Cole Beasley that is a lock for 5-6 catches per game - Ideally would like to end up with Devante Parker or Pierre Garcon here. Doug Martin if he is still around

9th - RB/WR I like grabbing McFadden around this area, especially if I grab a Doug Martin type who will be out first few weeks.

10th - WR - Going for a younger guy, normally I take Zay Jones or Corey Williams or Josh Doctson

11th - Prospect QB - I have been taking Mitch Trubisky here, for no reason other than I can keep him for a 5th/6th next few years if I do.

12th - Sleeper RB - Kareem Hunt normally, or Jamaal Williams

13th - Sleeper Wr - Cooper Kupp and Kenny Golladay are my targets around this mark here.

14th - Sleeper WR/RB or D/ST - I start thinking about D/St here, normally I wait until 15th, but if there is a D I'm really high on in the round I select them here, otherwise I wait. WR/RB wise, If one of my 13th rd sleepers are there I take them, otherwise I like Marlon Mack/Tarik Cohen/Alvin Kamara here.

15th - D/ST

16 - K

Typical Roster (excl D/K):

QB: A. Rodgers (1), J. Goff (7), M. Trubisky (11)

RB: T. Gurley (3), D. Martin (8), D. McFadden (9), K. Hunt (12), T. Cohen (14)

WR: M. Thomas (KEEPER) (5), E. Sanders (4), S. Diggs (6),  Z. Jones (10), C, Kupp (13)

TE: Gronk (2)

It's tough because so much of it depends on who you are drafting. I love Eiffert in the 6th or 7th, but if I also love Gronk in late 2nd or early 3rd. I obviously don't want both. Ideally each round I am able to get someone that had an ADP of a round earlier.

Instead of the bap strategy I create my own and stick to it and not let the draft or another player dictate who I take.  So its a 100% lock I will take a WR in the first, probably another in the 2nd and a top qb in the third.  Then employ the upside down method from there.  After reading and researching the qb's its goign to be hard for me to let A Rodgers slip by me in the second.  Dude may be in store for a historic type year.  Just have that feeling based on how he finished, his weapons and division.

I will however def target Dion Lewis and Burkhead 1 round or 2 earlier than projected.  One of those two is going to blow up this year in a ppr league

The presence of Gillislee and White make me less certain that one of those two will consistently deliver big weeks. :(

Not worried about White and sure as heck am not worried about Gillislee.  I am worried how they distribute the plays on a game to game basis.  But from where both Lewis and Burk are going in the latest drafts they both hold incredible value IMO.  I am talking on a strictly PPR league basis.   The Pats offense may be on fire this season and it would be wise to try and hold a piece of it from a backfield perspective and I think either one of those 2 guys are worth the gamble or reach.

I want Doug Martin on all my teams this year. Looks like round 6.

I also want Devante Parker ...so the 7th is whre I'm targeting him

I don't want either to do well this weekend or their ADPs will rise

Martin is a steal in the 6th.  FFC has him in the 5th

At the 5 out of 10 pick if I can start Julio> M.Thomas>Gurley I'll be pretty happy. After that it's best available but hoping for Crabtree in 4th, Sanders 5th, then high upside risk RB

Yeah I think they mix it up like crazy.  Not interested in trying to figure out that riddle

Mcaffery is going in second and third rounds now
Yeah that was wishful thinking, I'll take mccaffrey or Pryor in the 3rd, depending on draft flow... haven't seen him go 2nd in big money/ expert leagues

It's a fun exercise to look at late August ADP around week 3. It don't mean sheet to grab a guy one round early.

I love Cook's situation and both CMC/Mixon strike me as special talents.

CMC - 33

Cook - 39

Mixon - 40

I'd be fine taking McCaffrey at 2.10 (#22) or Dalvin at 3.03 (#27.) Mixon might be there at 46, I think people still think Hill will pound it and Gio will be the pass catcher. We'll see how that plays out. I don't think Mixon will be a flex play early but I like his chances to earn a role.

I've been targeting Mixon as well... not a cook fan at all.

Agree he's a better talent, but Cook will have more usage. He's a good all around back. Might lose RZ touches but he's got [a role] right now. Mixon has been playing the 2nd half against the scrubs, right?

That's where I disagree with the cook fanboys.  Usage is not a foregone conclusion imho.  Murray is just as good of a runner.  O line is still dog#### too.

mixon is somewhat of a projection, I believe he beats out hill early on the season...too much talent.

Cook sure looks like he has that job

People are getting Dez Bryant in round 3????

I am targeting him at #15 overall...........
I have to admit I thought he(and Prescott for that matter) would get a bigger post-Zeke-suspension bump. Zeke seems like a great football player but I'm not convinced he can stay out of trouble until the end of his suspension close to November. How many days is it since in his last car accident?

He could have the job... but what if he's the starter but splits goal line carries with Murray and splits receptions with McKinnon? That's what I would worry about.

Same could be said for Mixon in CIN. In both cases neither team has much of an OL either.

Cook will benefit from playing with "Checkdown Charlie," aka Sam Bradford. Metric show Murray isn't very good. IIRC he had one of the worst red zone conversion percentages, and was also very poor in yards after contact.

IF line is a cause for concern, the same concern could be leveled at Mixon. The Bengals lost arguably their two best lineman to FA this past off season.

Mixon is a significantly better RB who can overcome OL mediocrity with his talent.  Cook isn't a good RB and he has a poor OL...not a great combination.
