Now--no way, but my reason for the move is in hopes he turns into something and performs better than the 2 guys I have rotating at my #2 back spot. Of course this is if he gets the opportunity to shine. Appears that won't be this week.Obviously?Would you really start Williams ahead of either of those guys?I hope this author is right--I am in dire need of a RB2 who can be mildly productive. Bush and Vereen obviously aren't going to cut it. Time to buy some lotter ytickets and hope for paydirt!Phinsider blogger's take on the Miami RB's

A good game that gives the coaching staff more confidence in playing him long term.We also can't forget Moreno isn't done for the year. At some point in time, he will be back and he will get another shot. I mean, what would it take for Williams to hold long-term value?
Right, but which two? Assuming you are counting on Moreno coming back and regaining some type of role, are you expecting Williams to overtake Miller?A good game that gives the coaching staff more confidence in playing him long term.We also can't forget Moreno isn't done for the year. Over 2 games the Miami offense has run the ball 29.5 times/game. Based on the type of offense I think they will remain in the top 10 for total rushing attempts over the course of the season. So there is opportunity here for two running backs to get touches that may be worth starting on a weekly basis.
I thought he looked shifty and fast in the highlights.SameSongNDance said:Right, but which two? Anyway, looks like he compares similarly to Pierce and Cadillac Williams from an athletic stand point. The first thing I did was watch some highlights. I don't like to pass judgement solely off of highlight reels but it's always a fun start when researching an RB. I was a bit disappointed to see his highlights consisting of him running through mac truck sized holes; I was hoping to see some yards after contact but there was nada. I then watched same game highlights and saw the positives and negatives highlighted in this thread. He seems like a fine speculative add but between him, Miller, Orleans (who got snaps/touches last week after Moreno went down as well) and the inevitable return of Moreno I think he's going to have to be special to come out on top.
Of course week 1 it was 35 RB carries, last week it was 17 RB carries. I wonder what we get this week.A good game that gives the coaching staff more confidence in playing him long term.We also can't forget Moreno isn't done for the year. In that case Miller gets 11 and Williams gets 584.595 carries.Of course week 1 it was 35 RB carries, last week it was 17 RB carries. That or maybe Williams simply isn't ready for a bigger role. The fact they trotted Daniel Thomas who is a complete POS over Williams......tells you all you need to know about how this coaching staff feels about giving Williams any PT in the regular season.
No trust here right now by this (abysmal) coaching staff in Williams.
Yeah, very strange. Snap counts:The fact they trotted Daniel Thomas who is a complete POS over Williams......tells you all you need to know about how this coaching staff feels about giving Williams any PT in the regular season.

With Moreno gone, should we pull the fork back out? Williams worth watch-listing?Stick a fork in this one.
I don't see why. He didn't do anything last time Moreno was hurt, not sure why he would start to now. With Moreno gone, should we pull the fork back out? Williams worth watch-listing?Stick a fork in this one.

Some people have this crazy theory that rookies can improve. He's certainly worth watching.ETA- FUBAR beat me by a second with this post.I don't see why. Damien Williams rushed seven times for 37 yards in the Dolphins' Week 10 loss to the Lions, adding three receptions for an additional 27 yards.
With Lamar Miller (shoulder) at less than 100 percent and Daniel Thomas having ball-security issues, Williams was the Dolphins' No. 1 back in Motown. It's quite possible that will remain the case for Thursday's game against the Bills, but going up against one of the league's best run defenses on a short week, Williams won't be a recommended RB3.

Speaking at last week's Senior Bowl, Dolphins GM Dennis Hickey stated he believes rising second-year RB Damien Williams has an "ability to play on all three downs."
Hickey also praised Williams' special teams play and noted he likes young players help in that area before pushing for significant playing time. A 2014 UDFA, Williams is a plus pass blocker and caught 21 passes in limited action as a rookie. Williams has starting-caliber athleticism and size. He is a player to target in Dynasty trades with Lamar Miller entering a contract year.

The Palm Beach Post's Andrew Abramson considers Damien Williams the leader to be the Dolphins' No. 2 running back behind starter Lamar Miller.
According to Abramson, Williams and 49ers castoff LaMichael James are well ahead of fifth-round rookie Jay Ajayi, who has steadily been working as the No. 4 back. Beat writers have noted that Ajayi isn't showing much decisiveness with the ball in his hands. Williams averaged just 3.4 YPC on 36 carries as a rookie, but caught 21 balls and has plus size and athleticism at 5'11/225.

The Miami Herald's Armando Salguero agrees that the Dolphins' No. 2 tailback job is "Damien Williams' to lose."
Salguero says Williams is the "clear" No. 2 back based on his "experience in (Bill Lazor's) offense," "practice snaps," and from "listening to Joe Philbin speak." Williams appears to have a sizable advantage on ballyhooed rookie Jay Ajayi, who is fighting LaMichael James for No. 3 scraps. Williams is 5-foot-11, 222 with 4.45 timed speed and showed well in the passing game as a rookie.

Damien Williams operated as the Dolphins' clear No. 2 running back in the team's preseason opener.
He finished with 20 yards on seven carries and two catches for 28 yards. Williams actually replaced starter Lamar Miller in the red zone on Miami's opening drive, but it turned out Miller was simply done for the day. Williams looked much, much sharper than LaMichael James, who was the No. 3 back through the rotation. Jay Ajayi is injured and currently on the fourth string.

Last year was only his second year, and Miller indeed struggled before Moreno went down and Miller found himself as the lead dog.I don't get the love for Lamar Miller. I assume he won some FF titles with his nice week 15 game and his 178 yard game in week 16 so there's a shine on him. Before that he was a 700 yard RB that gets 12 carries per game.
12 carries for 50ish yards was quite regular and would make me consider Damien again.
