Post a song lyric (not all the lyrics, just one line or two) that you absolutely love (1 Viewer)

And every day I agree you throw me down by the Christmas tree.
I watched your lights blink on and off while you start your fun with me.
I know your reasons.
And I know your goals.
We can #### forever, but you will never get my soul.

Marie, she didn't wake up this morning, she didn't even try.
She just rolled over and went to Heaven, my little boy safe inside

I laid them in the sun where somebody'd find them, caught a Chesapeake on the fly.
Marie will know I'm headed south so as to meet me by and by.

Some love is just a lie of the heart
The cold remains of what began with a passionate start
And they may not want it to end
But it will it's just a question of when

Lily Belle, your hair is golden brown.
I've seen your black man comin' round.
Swear by God I'm gonna cut him down.

I like having a thumb that's opposable.
I like having a mouth and ears.
I like the pirates who were sailing on the ocean and
I like the people who bring me beer!

And then the day before he died, I went to see him.
I was grown and he was almost gone.
So we just closed our eyes and dreamed us up a kitchen
and sang another verse to that old song
"Come on, Jack, that son of a ##### is coming."
Like desperados waiting for a train.

This is survived by a love
This is survived by a cause
That you aren’t the only one who remembers what it was

This is survived by a love
This is survived by a wish
That you won’t let down who has attached themselves to it

This is survived by a love
This is survived by a fear
That all that’s left when said and done is words you will
Never ever hear

1. I spent 12 years of hard time, more like the best years of my life.

never heard or read a single word, about the man and his wicked mind.

2. You're the only one who can hold your head up high.
Shake your fist at the gates saying,
"I've come home now! Fetch me the spirit, the son and the father.
Tell them their pillar of faith has ascended.
It's time now! My time now!
Give me my Give me my wings!"

3. I used to trust the media
To tell me the truth, tell us the truth
But now I've seen the payoffs
Everywhere I look
Who do you trust when everyone's a crook?

4. Consequences dictate
Our course of action
And it doesn't matter what's right
It's only wrong if you get caught
If consequences dictate
My course of action
I should, I should play God
And just shoot you myself
Tired of waiting

5. Little angel go away
Come again some other day
The devil has my ear today
I'll never hear a word you say
He promised I would find a little solace
And some peace of mind
Whatever just as long as I don't feel so...

Old trees just grow stronger.
Old rivers grow wilder every day.
Old people just grow lonesome
waiting for someone to say, "Hello in there".

Radiohead

I don't care if it hurts
I wanna have control
I want a perfect body
I want a perfect soul

_________

Death Cab for Cutie

I want to live where soul meets body
And let the sun wrap its arms around me,
And bathe my skin in water cool and cleansing
And feel... feel what it's like to be new.

_____________

Caged the Elephant

Heartbreaks, the heavy world's upon your shoulders
Will we burn on or just smolder?
Somehow, I know I'll find you there

And after a while, you can work on points for style
Like the club tie, and the firm handshake
A certain look in the eye and an easy smile

You have to be trusted by the people that you lie to
So that when they turn their backs on you
You'll get the chance to put the knife in

En el alma de mi gente, en el cuero del tambor
En las manos del conguero, en los pies del bailador
Yo viviré, allí estaré

Up on a hill as the day dissolves
With my pencil turning moments into line
High above in the violet sky
A silent silver plane, it draws a golden chain

Livin’ ain’t a promise

Livin’ ain’t a right

And no one here is gettin’ out alive

So pick up all your pieces

Cast the doubt away

Rediscover, the color in the grey

Rediscover, all the color, in the grey

He's one of those who knows that life is just a leap of faith.
Just spread your arms, hold your breath, and always trust your cape

Woke up this morning
Put on my slippers
Walked in the kitchen and died
And oh what a feeling!
When my soul went through the ceiling
And on up into heaven I did ride
When I got there they did say
John, it happened this way
You slipped upon the floor
And hit your head
And all the angels say
Just before you passed away
These were the very last words
That you said

Please don't bury me
Down in the cold cold ground
No, I'd druther have 'em cut me up
And pass me all around
Throw my brain in a hurricane
And the blind can have my eyes
And the deaf can take both of my ears
If they don't mind the size

Give my stomach to Milwaukee
If they run out of beer
Put my socks in a cedar box
Just get 'em out of here
Venus de Milo can have my arms
Look out! I've got your nose
Sell my heart to the Junkman
And give my love to Rose

But please don't bury me
Down in that cold, cold ground
No, I'd druther have 'em cut me up
And pass me all around
Throw my brain in a hurricane
And the blind can have my eyes
And the deaf can take both of my ears
If they don't mind the size

Give my feet to the footloose
Careless, fancy free
Give my knees to the needy
Don't pull that stuff on me
Hand me down my walking cane
It's a sin to tell a lie
Send my mouth way down south
And kiss my ### goodbye

But please don't bury me
Down in that cold cold ground
No, I'd druther have 'em cut me up
And pass me all around
Throw my brain in a hurricane
And the blind can have my eyes
And the deaf can take both of my ears
If they don't mind the size

Great thread.

From this week's Random Shots.

And I would give up everything
And if you were to come up clean
And see you shine so bright in a world of woe
And they may pay us off in fame
But that is not why we came
And if it compromises truth then we will go

We came for salvation
We came for family
We came for all that's good that's how we'll walk away
We came to break the bad
We came to cheer the sad
We came to leave behind the world a better way

Immigrant goes to America,
Many hellos in America;
Nobody knows in America
Puerto Rico's in America!

"You tried to drown your sorrows

You shouldn't've taught them how to swim

And now you are right back where

you began"

One of my favorite songs from John Craigie.

Here's one especially appropriate for all of us opining on fantasy football. From the Corner Gas closing credits theme:

I don't know

The same things you don't know.

Never seem to get far enough staying in between the lines.
Hold on while you can, waiting for the end, not knowing when.
May the wind take your troubles away, may the wind take your troubles away.
Both feet on the floor, 2 hands on the wheel, may the wind take your troubles away.

This one makes me think of Jess, who crossed the street in SPFLD, MA and now works for the mob-owned establishments, or so I hear. But this one's for her.

Mary, this station is playing every sad song.
I remember like we were alive.
I heard it Sunday morn' from inside of these walls.
In a prison cell, where we spent those nights.
And they burnt up the diner where I always used to find her.
Licking young boys blood from her claws.
And I learned about the blues from this kitten I knew.
Her hair was raven and her heart was like a tomb.
My heart's like a wound.

I saw tail lights last night in a dream about my first wife.
Everybody leaves and I'd expect as much from you.
I saw tail lights last night in a dream about my old life.
Everybody leaves, so why, why wouldn't you?

We had the greatest expectations...
