The other issue is Jacobs is no doubt their #1 and they gave Richard a contract with 4.6 guaranteed...even if he is legit it's gonna be tough to get the touches to be fantasy relevant...my guess is if this works out it's gonna be a better real football move then fantasy move.I don't even think he's a 3rd round rookie pick. There are soooo many WRs this year. They bump down the QBs, and even the top of this weak TE class.
He's gonna have to get touches like Kamara in order to be relevant. Is he that skilled a runner? I dunno.
Man, maybe he is.
I don't believe reasonable dynasty fantasy owners expect much fantasy scoring from Bowden in 2020. When you speak of dynasty, I don't really care about Richard in 2020, I care about whether Bowden shows enough in 2020 to have a bigger role in 2021 and beyond. No one expects a late 3rd / 4th rd dynasty draft rookie to set the woods on fire his first season. If you do, then perhaps you should only be playing in redraft leagues (not aimed at @Boston, just people in general who have too high expectations for players like this). The other issue is Jacobs is no doubt their #1 and they gave Richard a contract with 4.6 guaranteed...even if he is legit it's gonna be tough to get the touches to be fantasy relevant...my guess is if this works out it's gonna be a better real football move then fantasy move.
Agreed. Chris Thompson with better rushing skills? Is that the hope/vision?I don't believe reasonable dynasty fantasy owners expect much fantasy scoring from Bowden in 2020. Not sure how you build your Dynasty team but in mine with 22 rosters spots I don't like to use a spot on a guy that has a very minimal chance of hitting...my main goal is to win and keep an overall young roster not to prove to people I can hit on a real flyer...just not worth it and with that amount of roster spots a guy like Richard making 4.6 in guaranteed money is a legit issue for two years so Bowden's appeal to me becomes that much less...now, if you are in a league with those huge rosters then he's fine to grab because that is a totally different animal because you don't have to cut another legit player/prospect to keep him...maybe when discussing a guy like Bowden rosters sizes should be noted because it is almost two different conversations based on that.I don't believe reasonable dynasty fantasy owners expect much fantasy scoring from Bowden in 2020. Yes, roster spots play a role. All of my dynasty leagues have 24-26 man rosters. I really don't see the point in too shallow rosters in dynasty leagues to be honest. Not sure how you build your Dynasty team but in mine with 22 rosters spots I don't like to use a spot on a guy that has a very minimal chance of hitting...my main goal is to win and keep an overall young roster not to prove to people I can hit on a real flyer...just not worth it and with that amount of roster spots a guy like Richard making 4.6 in guaranteed money is a legit issue for two years so Bowden's appeal to me becomes that much less...now, if you are in a league with those huge rosters then he's fine to grab because that is a totally different animal because you don't have to cut another legit player/prospect to keep him...maybe when discussing a guy like Bowden rosters sizes should be noted because it is almost two different conversations based on that.
In our league many guys still want the waiver wire to be relevant and with 22 players it barely is (and barely maybe can overstatement)...I could live with a deeper roster but fully understand why we went with 22.Yes, roster spots play a role. I think these takes are right. Rookies are already a crap shoot as even the most highly touted blue-chip prospects need to prove themselves at the next level. And sometimes they don't (JaMarcus Russell was a "can't miss" prospect going into the draft. More applicable to the position, so was Trent Richardson).I don't believe reasonable dynasty fantasy owners expect much fantasy scoring from Bowden in 2020...I care about whether Bowden shows enough in 2020 to have a bigger role in 2021 and beyond.
Bowden's upside may be capped given his tweener role, but I do agree that Gruden is a guy who can employ a guy with Bowden's skill set in more ways than simple gadgetry. I fully expect we will see Bowden used on many 3rd and mid/short plays to create mismatches and confusion, even if he isn't the guy the ball goes to.Agreed. Chris Thompson with better rushing skills? Is that the hope/vision?
One small little thing in his favor which is worth mentioning: Gruden and Mayock aren't going anywhere (we think). If the Jets drafted Lynn Bowden, I would be down on him because some new coach comes in, first thing they do is bounce the gadget guy/coach's favorite. Whatever Gruden's vision for Bowden's role is, he'll be able to see it through.
If he would have landed with the right offense he would have been a lock in the 2nd.JohnnyU said:Even though I started this thread I ended up with zero shares of Bowden in 7 of 8 (starts Fri) drafts.
I wouldn't reach into the 2nd and it just didn't work my way for him in the 3rd or 4th.
They could cut Richard next year with 0 Dead Cap space. Yes, Richard is part of the equation this year but they didn't commit to him long term. In dynasty, a back up RB with a contract like this is not that big of an obstacle if of course Bowden is the real deal.Boston said:The other issue is Jacobs is no doubt their #1 and they gave Richard a contract with 4.6 guaranteed...even if he is legit it's gonna be tough to get the touches to be fantasy relevant...my guess is if this works out it's gonna be a better real football move then fantasy move.
Curious -- what do you think would have been the right offense? If he would have landed with the right offense he would have been a lock in the 2nd.
You hit on something here - Bowden might have more value in PPR leagues as I bet he is used for short dumps and wheels that he can gain YACs in space.LVR invested so heavily at skill positions they are all pretty scary because we have no idea how the distribution will be. I like Bowden and would like him more if he had a WR designation because most of my leagues are tiered PPR so being an RB hurts him there. I completely fell asleep on him at his price in my full PPR league and am kicking myself for it.
Raiders OC Greg Olson said the team is planning for third-round rookie Lynn Bowden to take snaps at quarterback.
"We believe that he can transition and be a running back, as well as do some of those plays at the quarterback position that he did in college," was Olson's exact quote. "You see the game changing from year to year, the use of the RPOs and the use of the Taysom Hills, those type of players that played the RPO-style offense in college, they become valuable." First and foremost, Bowden is going to be a running back, but he has the skill-set to be an elevated Wildcat back. There won't be enough touches to go around for 2020 re-draft value, but Bowden is an intriguing Dynasty league stash.

I can see it coming. The Raiders won't use Bowden the way he should be used. Ok, I can see some gadget plays thrown in, but this man should be playing WR, not RB or QB. But what the hell do I know, they are the experts.Raiders OC Greg Olson said the team is planning for third-round rookie Lynn Bowden to take snaps at quarterback.

The Athletic's Vic Tafur reports third-round Raiders rookie Lynn Bowden "hasn’t flashed a lot of speed."
Blazing speed wasn't necessarily a pre-draft selling point for Bowden, though he claimed he ran in the 4.4s/4.5s. An injury kept Bowden from running at the Combine. Coach Jon Gruden recently termed Bowden a "project." Bowden's Swiss-Army versatility and play-making ability makes him an intriguing Dynasty league stash, but rookie re-draft value seems to be out of the question.

Nice little move by Miami. I wonder if he ends up as a slot WR for them. Correct me if I'm wrong, but was Chan Gailey the OC for the Steelers when Ward/Randle El were there?Lynn Bowden is being traded to the Miami Dolphins along with a 6th round pick for a 4th round pick.
This doesn't seem like good news for Bowden as the team that went all in on him has bailed before even seeing him in an NFL game. Bowden was a third round pick and is paired with a sixth rounder in exchange for a future fourth, so Raiders gave up value to move on.Lynn Bowden is being traded to the Miami Dolphins along with a 6th round pick for a 4th round pick.
That's the plan per Barry Jackson, Miami Herald writer. Miami also has QB/WR/RB Malcolm Perry, who might go to the practice squad.Should be a WR. The RB experiment was stupid.
Yep. Now Miami also has 2 possible wildcat QBs in Bowden and Malcolm Perry.I don't think they know how to use him. My eyes told me he's pretty good. I guess we will see what Miami does with him. They should be using him as a WR, not a damn RB.
Maybe. Williams is back, he missed most of the season and is a clear starter across from Parker. Gisecki broke out. There’s plenty of easy completions to RB’s waiting to be scooped up. Not sure the slot here is going to be insanely productive without more injuries, if Parker, Williams, and Gisecki are all what people think they are, unless Tua grows into a top-5 QB in the future.Slapdash said:There should be plenty of opportunity to go around in Miami with both Wilson and Hurns opting out of 109 combined targets
He should have been drafted as a WR from the beginning. Hopefully Miami realizes that and use him accordingly. As for the character stuff, well, we don't know what's rattling in someone's head but he was a very good player at Kentucky that showed lots of explosiveness all over the field and was a positive influence in the locker room. Having to play QB his last year, while it was needed for Kentucky, it hurt his NFL stock IMO.Slapdash said:There should be plenty of opportunity to go around in Miami with both Wilson and Hurns opting out of 109 combined targets
He punched a guy before their bowl game and only got to play because it was earlier than they could enforce, he is hanging out at grammas house with a bunch of druggies, and he was traded at a loss at least partly because of charachter issues. I dont think he was ever the saint that you thought he was. Most people would take a shot at QB where they make the big bucks in the NFL instead of staying at wr where they make less. Not sure that is all that selfless. That didnt work out so well when they realized he couldnt throw the ball. He did run well but that O line Kentucky had was EXCELLENT by any standards. He would have been better off getting traded to green bay or some other place without the nightlife and beach distractions. He should have been drafted as a WR from the beginning. Dolphins placed RB Lynn Bowden on the reserve/COVID-19 list.
Bowden's COVID infection is unrelated to the Miami assistant coach who tested positive, according to the team. Myles Gaskin (knee) and Matt Breida (hamstring) being out for the Dolphins might have opened an opportunity for Bowden to see some touches this week against the Cardinals. Instead, Jordan Howard and Patrick Laird will share backfield duties for Miami. Pass-catching specialist Laird should be the superior option in PPR formats.

Dolphins activated RB Lynn Bowden from the reserve/COVID list.
He'll return to practice Thursday. The Dolphins could have Matt Breida (hamstring), DeAndre Washington, and Bowden available to replace Myles Gaskin (knee, IR) over the next two games. Expect one of Jordan Howard or rookie Salvon Ahmed to be healthy scratched in Week 10 against the Chargers.

Lynn Bowden led all Dolphins receivers in Week 14 with 35 pass routes.
The context, of course, was that DeVante Parker and Jakeem Grant left the game in the first quarter with leg injuries. The rookie played 77.8 percent of his Week 14 snaps from the slot and led the team in targets. He caught seven passes for 82 yards in Miami's furious second half comeback attempt. Bowden could have a surprisingly high PPR floor in Week 15 against the Patriots if Parker or Grant are inactive.

Can mods merge the two threads? My apologies for the other thread, we can keep everything in this one.
Good job JohhnyU
If Geisicki is out, not a bad role. I picked him up and will start him (Ronald Jones owner). Very concerned that it’s against Hoodie though.Looks like the slot guy/safety valve for Tua. Still has a chance to become Cobb 2.0.
They "can" but good luck getting it done. Can mods merge the two threads?
