Key Voting Block Loss : Biden’s Support Among Latinos/Hispanics Collapses (4/14/22 7:44 PST) (4 Viewers)

They don't actually have to understand Marxism to espouse Marxist rhetoric. That's one of the strengths of rhetoric. You can distill vast sums of boring theoretical text down to very simple, easy to remember phrases like: "Eat the rich".
Holy smoke. LOL.

Younger Hispanics won't be culturally conservative in the decades to come. Age demographics are the GOP'S biggest problem in future elections.

Direct Headline: Poll: Majority of Hispanics want border closed

...Trafalgar group released polling showing that the majority of Hispanics support closing the southern border....The poll found 65.2% of Hispanics want the border closed....“The fact that a majority of American voters, including nearly two-thirds of Hispanic voters, want to take the drastic step of temporarily closing our southern border shows that Americans see the impending disaster we face if the border crisis goes unchecked,” ....

Hispanics have been a key voting bloc for Democrats, and their support will heavily influence the November midterm elections, where other polling suggests Democrats could take heavy losses.... In the month of March alone, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) reported encountering more than 220,000 illegal immigrants crossing the border....The poll found that 55.8% of all surveyed Americans want the border closed....CBP has confirmed that removing Title 42 would lead to a surge of illegal immigration, which is already soaring. Title 42 is a health authority put in place under former President Donald Trump allowing illegal immigrants to be quickly expelled during the COVID-19 pandemic....

Look at Virginia. Glenn Youngkin isn't qualified to work a mop at a Hot Dog On A Stick. And he won simply for not being a Democrat.

The current Team Blue "brand" is toxic.  The Democratic Party isn't leaving younger Americans with a choice. They can choose to be Conservative. Or they can watch this death spiral where civil order and the economy collapses while they are being lectured by establishment Democrats who keep shouting about a "culture war" based on identity politics.

Younger voters, and yes even Latino/Hispanic voters, the one you are trying to describe, what is the return on investment for supporting Team Blue in the 2020 general election?

Lots of promises. And nothing. Just terror in the streets with no civil order, inflation, rising gas prices, a breached Southern Border, the disaster in Afghanistan and Biden and Harris sowing terror in all Americans every single time they are in front of a camera to a national audience. And what about their children? People want their children safe. Does anything about this administration make parents feel good about the future for their children? 10 percent of all guns in America PERIOD sold to civilians happened in 2020/2021. That means Americans are buying firearms at an unprecedented rate. More working class minorities, women and first time gun buyers than ever before. They don't believe they are safe anymore. They don't believe their children are safe anymore.

No one is going to vote for you if your Party brand looks like it will slaughter their children.

No one cares about someone else's pronouns if they can't afford groceries.

You are pushing an old political trope that is not facing the day to day reality on the ground for the average working class American.

I remember when I was a college undergraduate and people were telling me that demographic changes were going to push the Republican party into irrelevance in one or two more cycles.  Thirty years and a whole bunch of Republican wins later, people are still pushing that exact same argument.

These sort of things take a little while to play out, and I may or may not live to see this, but the US has a long history of changing our made-up definition of "white" as we go along.  Immigrants from Italy and Ireland weren't considered white initially, but folks extended the category over time to include them and now people would look at you funny if you described a person of Irish ancestry as being "ethnic" or something.

Assuming the GOP continues on it's trajectory toward white nationalism, is it going to get ripped up by demographic changes?  Probably not.  Society will expand the definition of "white" again to include Hispanics.  We already kind of do that with the category "white Hispanic," which is going to become an anachronism.

If I'm feeling bold, I'll go a little further and predict that the term "Hispanic" will fade away, because nobody really agrees on what it means.  We'll have white people whose ancestors hail from Mexico, Chile, Guatemala, Spain, Portugal, England, Germany, Poland, Italy, Norway, Ireland, and so on.  Describing a person as "Hispanic" will be like describing somebody born in the US as "European" -- nobody does that.  I feel less confident about this prediction.  Maybe like 30%-40% confidence or so.

I remember when I was a college undergraduate and people were telling me that demographic changes were going to push the Republican party into irrelevance in one or two more cycles.  Thirty years and a whole bunch of Republican wins later, people are still pushing that exact same argument.

I think there was a thread on these board to the effect that after the results of the 2020 election, Republicans wouldn't win another election.  Then Biden happened and in 2021, a blue state like Virginia voted red.  Now Democrats don't want Biden anywhere near their campaigns.  Panic has ensued and now Democrats are grasping for abortion straws to motivate their base to vote.

....But as soon as Latinos realize that Republicans have no answers for inflation either, and only want to shut down our southern border and blame illegal immigrants for all of our problems, Latinos will go right back to the Democrats again.

Direct Headline: Democrats launch 'historic' seven-figure media effort targeting Latinos

The Democratic National Committee is launching a paid media campaign of radio and print advertisements in English and Spanish in Latino-rich states. The ads are part of a Latino initiative the committee dubbed Adelante, which translates to “forward.”...The ads are to run in Texas, Florida, Nevada, Wisconsin, Georgia, Arizona, North Carolina, Michigan and Pennsylvania. Parties rarely divulge exact spending for competitive reasons....“The DNC has never done this, this early on and this robust of a figure for investment in Latino messaging and Latino outreach during a midterm election,”....Democrats got a national shock in the 2020 presidential election from Latinos who voted at higher percentages for Republicans than in other years.....Joe Biden was elected president with a majority of Latino voters, but his approval ratings among Latinos have slid as inflation has raised the prices of gasoline, food, housing and other basics.....The committee’s ads will promote the accomplishments of the Biden administration, with the party hoping Latinos struggling with the rising costs will see the administration as helping ease the hard times......

Direct Headline: Trump's gains among Latino voters shouldn't come as a surprise. Here's why.

Republicans have garnered over 40 percent of Latino support in previous races, and Trump's messaging — and frequent, targeted outreach — resonated with more Latino voters....As Americans woke up Wednesday to a still-undecided presidential race, some were stunned by Trump's gains among Latino voters in the battleground states of Texas and Florida, which he won....Biden did win the Latino vote in those states. But in Texas, 41 percent to 47 percent of Hispanic voters backed Trump in several heavily Latino border counties in the Rio Grande Valley region, a Democratic stronghold. In Florida, Trump won 45 percent of the Latino vote, an 11-point improvement from his 2016 performance....But the diverse Latino electorate has a record of backing Republicans in some parts of the country, with some segments commonly identifying with Republican messages about the economy and social and political issues.....In 2008, 42 percent of Latinos backed Republican presidential nominee John McCain. In Texas, Republicans have been able to win a third to 45 percent of Latinos' votes; George W. Bush drew more than 40 percent of the Hispanic vote as governor. And in Florida's 2018 races, Latino support propelled Republican Gov. Rick Scott to the Senate....."If your starting point is that not a single Latino should vote for Trump, then of course you are going to need a more complex explanation for understanding why Trump would win 25 to 35 percent of the [Latino] vote"...At the same time, Trump and his supporters' constant depiction of Democrats — and later Biden — as "socialists" has been effective, with the GOP linking Democrats' healthcare or tax policies as a slippery slope to socialism.....Democrats in the state have been sounding the alarm for years about the need to counter the messaging, slamming Trump as a caudillo, or strongman, for his attacks on the media and government institutions. At the same time, polls had been showing an increase in Latino support for Trump in the state, along with a rise in grassroots support.....Trump also cultivated conservative Hispanics, visiting the largest Latino evangelical congregation in the country at a Florida megachurch and speaking at length about abortion, claiming the Democratic candidates were trying to "silence our churches."....This summer and fall, state Democrats warned that the party wasn't doing enough outreach to different Latino groups in the state, including the growing Puerto Rican population.....

Direct Headline: Why Democrats Are Losing Texas Latinos

The party assumes people of color will turn the state blue. But most Tejanos consider themselves white. And more are voting Republican...Banking on an identity-based appeal, Democrats last year trotted out the sort of bilingual messaging in South Texas that has played well among Mexican Americans in Los Angeles and Puerto Ricans in New York, focused on a celebration of diversity and immigration. Republicans, by contrast, recognized that Hispanic South Texans share many of the same values as non-Hispanic white voters elsewhere in Texas and swept in with a pitch about defending gun rights, promoting the oil and gas industry, restricting abortion, and supporting law enforcement. Republicans proved more persuasive. ....In the past four years, Democrats have self-consciously invested heavily in the political priorities of progressive, well-paid, highly educated Americans who live in big cities and suburbs. Often maligned as “woke” politics, tacking left socially has helped Democrats attract and energize young white liberals, while at the same time alienating conservative and moderate Hispanic and, to some extent, Black Americans. While the Republican gains in South Texas were large enough to flip entire counties, Hispanic neighborhoods across the country—from East San Jose, California, to South Tucson, Arizona—also shifted toward the GOP, even as Democrats maintained comfortable leads in the final totals. The party historically has needed more than 60 percent of the Hispanic electorate to win on the national level. If it is losing conservative Hispanic voters, it could be facing an extinction-level event....

The Hispanic/Latino base is not a monolith. The current Democratic Party and DNC HQ have idiotically treated them as such for a very long time. The critical issue is that working class minority voters across the board were made promises by Biden and previously by Obama and others, and no one delivered for them.

You are ignoring, again, that the Hispanic/Latino voter base has been increasing for the GOP across time and multiple election cycles. Everything you say has no practical context to the tactical political reality on the ground.

Now Team Blue is desperate. Now they want to spend money on more "messaging" on what they are delivering. What exactly are they delivering to every day working class Americans right now? Go on, actually explain that.

And now you add the abortion issue into the mix, since that's a trigger issue for many old school religious Hispanic/Latinos, and how does the Biden Administration hope to hold onto these critical voters?

You can't just show up every four years, make a bunch of promises, then ignore these people. I've said it over and over again, while I don't like too much about AOC, there's no doubt that the core of the establishment Democrats treat her like a novelty and a loud brown girl just barely good enough to clean their bathrooms. You think working class minority voters don't see that? Toxic tone deaf elitist smug condescending Limousine Liberals cannot win elections all by themselves.

Jaime Harrison who runs DNC HQ is wrong . Democrats don't deliver. Not for every day working class Americans. You want Hispanic/Latino voters to go back to the Party apparatus that ignores them then starts gaslighting them every four years so they can make life better for over educated liberal white people in Big Blue Cities?

No I get that. I’ve talked about this with a lot of Latinos as well. I get all sorts of feedback.

Direct Headline: Many Latinos say 'Latinx' offends or bothers them. Here's why.

It might have been intended to be more inclusive, but it actually can feel exclusionary to everyday people...It soon became clear it was no joke. Latinx was becoming an official term on elite college campuses, popular among academics, progressives, young activists and LGBTQ groups who wanted gender-neutral terminology. (In Spanish words ending in “O” are masculine and those ending in “a” are feminine. When referring to a mixed-gender group, the plural word ends in the masculine “O,” so substituting that letter for “X” avoids preferencing the men.)...When I heard it, my first thought was that it wasn’t Spanish — but that it was pretentious....The political implications are considerable. Democrats, including President Joe Biden, have been deploying the word Latinx, apparently believing that a gender-neutral word that was born among liberal academics and progressive activists would appeal to Latinos....“Why are we using a word that is preferred by only 2 percent but offends as many as 40 percent of those voters we want to win?”....

“Why are establishment Democrats force feeding a term that is preferred by only 2 percent but offends as many as 40 percent of absolutely critical voters that Team Blue desperately needs and wants to win over?”

Ask them that.

I'd like to hear @rockaction take a deep dive on the term and usage of "Latinx"

I usually point out the stupid things elected officials do with pure blunt force trauma.

Rock is however much more surgical about it.

So Tim, piercing your endless cognitive dissonance might require the latter to stop your pedantic sealioning.

https://www.merriam-webster.com/words-at-play/word-history-latinx#:~:text=Latinx was originally formed in,pronounced when it was created.

I don't necessarily have the time today to go into it, but the Wiki article is a good summation. First appearing in academic literature or online is absolutely no surprise for a word as clunky and a terminology as breathlessly stupid as this one is. (I'll admit, I've used it, but only when I don't want a fight about it.)

Nobody likes the term. I don't even think a majority of Latinos liked the term "Latina" or "Latino." It was all sort of foisted upon them by identity peddlers and pushers, a movement I actually know better and could describe the movement better as "Latina/Latino" came of age in the nineties when I did. I remember the change away from "Hispanic," which had taken on derogatory overtones to "Latino/a."

Direct Headline: Biden's Hispanic approval ratings plummets to 26% in new poll

President Biden's approval rating among Hispanic Americans has plummeted to 26%, according to a Wednesday poll from Quinnipiac University.....Biden is less popular among Hispanics than any other demographic, including age and gender ,the poll found. The same Quinnipiac poll conducted last year put Hispanic support for Biden at 55%....Young Americans and White men also have low approvals for Biden, at 27% and 29% respectively.....

Americans were asked about President Biden's handling of...

the economy: 32 percent approve, while 63 percent disapprove;

the situation at the Mexican border: 28 percent approve, while 58 percent disapprove.

DIRECT HEADLINE: Biden’s History of Getting Away With Racist Remarks

On Charlamagne Tha God’s popular morning radio show (The Breakfast Club) in May 2020, (POTUS candidate) Biden infamously asserted to the largely black audience that if they were (in any way) unsure of whether to vote for him or Trump ( for President), then “you ain’t black!”

Then (publicly) in August 2020, Biden told ( on record) a gathering of black and Hispanic journalists that “unlike the African American community, with (some) notable exceptions, the Latino community (overall) is an incredibly diverse community with incredibly different attitudes about (many) different things.”

Poll testing is that Biden worst overall returns are from Hispanic/Latino communities.

That's going to have a punishing effect all down the ticket for Team Blue.

Who says those votes will ever come back at all? The heavy religious influence within the culture is not going to vibe strongly with the radical left and establishment Democrat's hard push for unchecked abortion rights and pro LGBT at the cost of everything else.

Imagine the following in your mind....

The Great Antagonist Of Corn Pop- "I don't care if I'm surprised that you are clean, if you don't vote for me, then you ain't LATINX!"

Maria Salazar points out that the current Democratic Party has shifted from Pro Choice to "Pro Abortion", and that's going to drive away the Hispanic/Latino legacy vote.

The other issue that no one wants to discuss is that allowing the Southern Border to be breached is an issue of Americans versus Illegal Immigrants. Existing Hispanics/Latinos who are citizens are Americans. It's idiotic for the Democratic Party to think there are no difference between actual established citizens, who happen to be Hispanic/Latino, and their viewpoints and the actual illegals.

So no, I don't see a large cross section of the Hispanic/Latino vote going back to Team Blue.

Everything costs dramatically more to raise their children, for an identity politics based Party that wants unrestricted ability to abort them in the womb, then try to starve them out of baby formula, then make it harder to find good careers to get the money to raise them, only to lock them out of schools, and if the kids can go back, then they risk being indoctrinated in woke, social justice, possible grooming and "culture war" issues that won't translate to good jobs and safe streets.

Team Blue stupidly sees the Hispanic/Latino community as a monolith. And treats them without any dignity at all by expecting their votes are just going to happen automatically without actually delivering real wins for those communities.

But as soon as Latinos realize that Republicans have no answers for inflation either, and only want to shut down our southern border and blame illegal immigrants for all of our problems, Latinos will go right back to the Democrats again.

Direct Headline: Poll: Joe Biden’s Approval Rating Drops to 24 Percent with Hispanic Americans

President Joe Biden’s approval rating with Hispanic Americans has plummeted to just 24 percent, a new Quinnipiac Poll finds....The poll reveals that Biden’s overall approval rating with Americans remains in the negatives with about 35 percent approving of the job he is doing as president and 56 percent disapproving....With Hispanic Americans, the poll shows that only 24 percent approve of Biden as president while nearly 6-in-10 disapprove. Direct Headline: George Soros-funded liberal takeover of Hispanic radio stations ‘reeks of desperation,’ critics say

A group partially bankrolled by liberal billionaire George Soros is set to purchase 18 Hispanic radio stations across 10 different markets but conservatives are fighting back, calling it a move that "reeks of desperation" to control Latino voters who have been ditching the Democratic Party. ...The formation of the Latino Media Network, a new network set to be made up of the 18 Hispanic radio stations, was announced last week, and was partially financed by Lakestar Finance, an investment group affiliated with Soros Fund Management. The deal is pending regulatory approval but is expected to close later this year, giving new management plenty of time to make changes ahead of the 2024 election....

...Jess Morales Rocketto, a former Hillary for America and AFL-CIO employee, and Stephanie Valencia, a former White House staffer during the Obama administration, are heading the venture, and say their purchase across the multitude of media markets will give them "access to one-third of the Hispanic population..."

....Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., tweeted, "A front group led by left wing operatives & financed by Soros linked money is buying up Spanish language radio stations because they still don’t realize that the reason why they are bleeding Hispanic support isn’t ‘misinformation’ it’s their socialism."...Religious liberty, parental rights, abortion, belief in the free-market system and comprehensive immigration reform that favors migrants who enter the country legally are thought to be among the topics that have made many Hispanics ditch Democrats....

....The staffer said colleagues are concerned that conservative voices will be silenced and advertisers will flee as a result – if the station still exists following the completion of the deal. ...."They are doing this to silence us… it’s a dangerous situation," they added. "Honesty, I’m scared. This is absolutely crazy...."

Working class Americans, including the critical Hispanic/Latino base, is not all that complicated. Are you, the elected officials in power, making their day to day lives better or not?

Working class minority voters are being absolutely pummeled in the current economic environment. Soros can buy as much radio coverage as he likes, but if nothing changes in the day to day lives of many people who are likely a paycheck and half away from being homeless, then they still won't vote for you.

Two and a half more years for Obama/Biden/Harris/Rice to drive away working class minority voters for countless future cycles to come. People are already angry now. What will it look like in two and half more years of this disaster zone of an administration?

Latinos "will go right back to being Democrats" when those Democrats start delivering wins for them. Real tangible wins. And when exactly is that going to happen?

The Virginia elections should set the tone for the Mid Terms. If you can't be any worse and you are sure to be different, maybe that's plenty for many voters. At least there's some pathway for hope in a changeover. But Team Blue failures at this point operate like a cost certainty that the working class despise. And they have every reason to be angry.

Good public policy that helps every day people > More "state media" fueled activist propaganda

Direct Headline: Republican Mayra Flores Wins U.S. House Seat In South Texas, First GOP Win There In 150+ Years

Republican Mayra Flores has flipped a U.S. House seat in deep blue south Texas in what is a likely indicator of the coming red tsunami that could hit the Democrat Party this fall during the midterm elections....Flores beat Democrat Dan Sanchez in the special election for Texas’ 34th Congressional District. The region has been devastated by Democrat President Joe Biden’s border crisis, something that has turned off many Hispanic voters that typically have voted for Democrats in the past....The dynamic put Democrats into an unusual underdog position in a region of the state they have long dominated...“There is a political earthquake happening in Latino politics in South Texas and there is a reason I have been saying it will be voting like West Virginia.... Democrats are calling Flores a "White Hispanic"

Because a minority working class woman with a husband in Border Patrol is somehow now a white supremacist and white nationalist? Should she be put up on a poster with Larry Elder then?

The seat was vacated because the Democrat incumbent, Vela, cut tail and ran because he knew he would be totally steam rolled in next election. He left for a lobbying firm. Despite Biden winning that district by 13 points in the 2020 general cycle. This kind of flipping is more than eye opening. It's also hilarious to show how Vela took his football and ran home right into the arms of donor pork as the DNC HQ decided to abandon him.

Biden's Southern Border policies will likely lose Team Blue a massive share of seats in those areas. Every Democrat in a purple zone at the Southern Border has to ask themselves if they have been reduced to political speed bumps. It's even unclear if the Progressives can do more than slow down this Red Tornado.

How can "Latinos  will go right back to being Democrats" when you have election results like this one?

...The special election was called to finish the term of former U.S. Rep. Filemon Vela, D-Brownsville, who resigned in March to work for the lobbying firm Akin Gump...

...Flores campaigned hard on her story as the wife of a U.S. Border Patrol agent and as a Mexican immigrant whose parents brought her to the United States as a young child. She mostly ignored Sanchez but took a sharp tone against Washington, D.C., Democrats in general. In one of her TV ads, she said the Rio Grande Valley is “under attack” at the border and promised not to let the “compadrismo” — cronyism — “in Washington ruin our communities....”

It’s pretty awesome that the first Mexican born congresswoman is a Republican. That’s how destructive the Democrat party has become.

Yes Latinos are upset about inflation (we all are.) And they’re going to vote Republican in big numbers in November as a result. Gonna be ugly for Democrats. But as soon as Latinos realize that Republicans have no answers for inflation either, and only want to shut down our southern border and blame illegal immigrants for all of our problems, Latinos will go right back to the Democrats again.

Direct Headline: UPDATED: DNC email seems to call hispanic outreach "taco bowl engagement" DNC says not so Texas Governor responds

On a day when the chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee announced she plans to resign over a disturbing email leak, a new email has surfaced appearing to call outreach to hispanics "taco bowl engagement."....

Photo of "Taco Bowl Engagement" Email

....Progressives and conservatives called for more firings on Sunday evening because of the email. The DNC has not responded to the calls for more heads to roll in the controversy. The email dump provided by Wikileaks also highlighted DNC staffers mocking Bernie Sanders jewish faith....

Direct Headline: Latino leaders: Email leak ‘hurt the party’

“The emails hurt the party. There were things said and written down that should have never been said and written down,”...The email brouhaha began shortly before the Democratic convention, when Wikileaks published more than 20,000 emails from seven top staffers. In the aftermath, three people lost their jobs, including communications director and chief spokesman Luis Miranda. ...Miranda was caught up in the uproar because he wrote nearly half of those missives, some of which came under heavy criticism....

....In one email, Miranda said immigrant groups were being “irresponsible” in demanding that unaccompanied immigrant children from Central America be granted temporary protected status. Another tried to spin the Obama administration’s latest rounds of deportations. That brought a sharp rebuke from Casa de Maryland, the Washington area’s largest immigrant advocacy group, which sent a complaint letter to interim DNC Chairwoman Donna Brazile requesting that Miranda be fired. ....In another email with a colleague asking about speechwriters for the convention, Miranda shot down several Democratic consultants, calling into question their bilingual language skills and their party loyalty....

“It is deeply disappointing and heartbreaking that a DNC employee chose to offer unsolicited and untruthful statements about Latino operatives who have worked steadfastly for almost two decades supporting and defending the Democratic Party and our nominees...It demonstrates the hypocrisy of the Democrats when they try to portray themselves as being very sensitive with minorities, when all it seems to be is mostly a show for political gain....”

Will Hispanics/Latinos "go right back to being Democrats again"?

Let's go down some memory lane here. When WikiLeaks hit, the DNC's emails were made public. And all the ugly private conversations about the Latino voter base from brand Democrats came out.

Along with stock tried and true repugnant Antisemitism.

Hammer working class minority voters with inflation. Push clear indoctrination into their schools. Then smear them in private, now public, especially those who worked tirelessly for decades to support the Party apparatus.

"Go back" to what exactly? Being treated like trash as soon as your votes are counted until four years into the future when you are needed again?

When AOC got ahead, the establishment Democrats made it a point to let her know that she was the enemy. When Mayra Flores got ahead, Team Blue and the activist complicit MSM pretends she doesn't exist, again to let another brown woman know that she was the enemy. When WikiLeaks broke open and DNC emails became public, it proved yet again and again, that the DNC power base made it a point to talk about Latinos/Hispanics as if they didn't matter and as if they didn't exist except as a useful tool every four years or so.

Do you really think Latinos are going to "go back" to the Democratic Party after all this?

You can't lock down their schools, force vaccinations on them, put drag queens into their classrooms paid for with their tax dollars, make it impossible to fill their gas tanks, remove law and order from the streets and beat them down with inflation and expect them to keep voting Democrat.

Direct Headline: Democrats Enabled Biden’s Border Crisis For Too Long. Now They’re Paying At The Ballot Box

Voters in the historically blue Rio Grande Valley in Texas elected Republican Mayra Flores this week in a special congressional election that could signal a positive future for conservatives looking to break into what have long been considered Democrat strongholds....Ever since Texas District 34’s creation in 2010, Democrats have controlled the area. Rep. Filemon Vela, who resigned from his seat earlier this year, had easily won re-election in the 84 percent Hispanic district in previous years. In 2016, Hillary Clinton won the district by 21.5 percent. After that, in 2020, President Joe Biden won the district by 4.2 points....

So what changed for Democrats in the Rio Grande Valley in June of 2022?

For one, Hispanic Americans are rapidly turning to the Republican party, partially because of the GOP’s willingness to represent their true interests....It’s not hard to make a case against the Democrats in charge right now with record-high gas prices, inflation, crime, and more plaguing Americans and their pocketbooks. ...Flores’ opponent Dan Sanchez tried to win over voters by convincing them that he is a “conservative Democrat” and “pro-life” Catholic. Those characterizations have traditionally appealed to the religious Democrat crowd in the RGV..... Flores, however, harped on Biden’s border crisis, an issue close to home to the people in her community and her husband who works for Border Patrol, as a massive, out-of-control problem that deserves attention but isn’t getting it from anyone on the left.....“The RGV is under attack. Washington liberal policies are killing our community. Violent crime, human trafficking, and drugs coming across our border....To politicians, it’s just a game. But we are the ones who are suffering.....”

“Mayra was able to flip this district because she focused on issues that affect all voters’ lives (border security, crime, and rising costs) while Democrats focused on far-left issues.....” .....What will it take for Democrats to realize their deliberate silence on the border is deafening to communities once considered blue strongholds?....Unless Democrats magically start addressing the national security threat on the Southwest border, they are risking not just seats in border states, but losses spanning from coast to coast....

Tim believes once Hispanics/Latinos see Republicans want to close the Southern Border to illegals and all the crime/drugs/threat they bring into America and "blame" them, that those Latinos would return back to the Democratic Party.

However a working class immigrant heterosexual woman from Mexico, who came into this country LEGALLY, just won a Congressional seat by running heavily on closing the Southern Border to illegals. And in doing so, flipped a seat that's historically been hard Blue.

It will be interesting to see how timschochet explains this one away.

Direct Headline: Exclusive poll: Majority of Latinos support Trump-era COVID border policy

A majority of Latinos say they support a Trump-era policy that cites concerns about the pandemic to rapidly turn away migrants at the border, according to a new Axios-Ipsos Latino Poll in partnership with Noticias Telemundo has found. Why it matters: It's a fresh data point reflecting the complex views Latino voters have on immigration. Earlier on Thursday, a Supreme Court ruling allowed President Biden to end "Remain in Mexico" — another Trump-era border policy that has been criticized by immigration activists....

Title 42 is used far more frequently than "Remain in Mexico" — formally known as the Migrant Protection Protocols — and does not come with a guarantee of an asylum process....By the numbers: 51% of the 1,018 U.S. Latino adults surveyed said they strongly supported or somewhat supported keeping Title 42 in place, compared to 44% who said they opposed it.

The policy has majority support among Mexican Americans (52%), Puerto Ricans (57%), and Cuban Americans (53%)....The intrigue: 81% of Latino Republicans supported the policy, compared to 42% of Latino Democrats and 57% of Latino independents....

"Hispanics also trust Republicans to handle the economy better than Democrats, by a seven-point margin"

The mistake you are making is seeing the Hispanic/Latino base as a monolith. Those whom have already integrated into the United States are also likely going to look at the issue through eyes of being an American citizen first and foremost. A good test case of that is Mayra Flores, who recently overcame the odds to get into Congress.

Your position only holds if the collective has no sense of self preservation and no self interest. It's your right to think that way. But it's how Marxists typically rationalize their beliefs.

LOL.  Just a wall of white and ignored users in here, so maybe it's been covered but this should come with little surprise.   IMO either party that starts treating some of these groups of voters with the same manner and specificity as the white voting block will of course start win them over more and more.    From where I sit both parties and the country in general look at it as the "Latino vote" or the "black vote", as though they all think and vote alike and want the same things.     I think for years the Dems took the latino vote for granted and had operated as though they had the opinion that letting them in the country was enough to secure their vote (generalization, but you get the idea).  Now it's starting to bite them on the ###, along with the woke/Latinx type of crap, and it's biting them on the ###.

VIDEO: 'The Five' react to the media's coverage of Democrat AOC and Republican Mayra Flores Jul 7, 2022

'The Five' panel explores the alleged media double standard in coverage of rising Latina political stars Democrat AOC and Republican Mayra Flores.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DOlnZLzcBzw

Direct Headline: The Rise of the Far-Right Latina

Representative Mayra Flores became the first Republican to represent the Rio Grande Valley in more than a century after she won a special election last month and flipped the congressional seat from blue to red. She also became the first Latina Republican ever sent by Texas to Congress. Her abbreviated term lasts only through the end of the year, and she is seen as a long shot to win re-election to a full one.....Her campaign slogan — “God, family, country” — was meant to appeal to what she calls the “traditional values” of her majority-Hispanic district in the border city of Brownsville. She called for President Biden’s impeachment. She tweeted QAnon hashtags. And she called the Democratic Party the “greatest threat America faces....”

In an interview in her still-barren office the day after her swearing-in ceremony, Ms. Flores was asked whether she considered Mr. Biden the legitimately elected president.....“He’s the worst president of the United States,” she said.....When asked three more times whether Mr. Biden had been legitimately elected, she repeated the same (non-answer)....Republican leaders and strategists say Ms. Flores’s win and the candidacies of other right-wing Hispanic women are proof that Latino voters are increasingly shifting to the right. More than 100 Republican House candidates are Hispanic, a record number, according to the National Republican Congressional Committee.....Democrats view the situation much differently. Some Democratic leaders dismiss Ms. Flores’s victory as a fluke....

....And as her own oath of office coincided with the hearings by the House committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack, Ms. Flores largely dismissed the proceedings.....“Honestly, my district doesn’t care about that,” she said of the hearings. “My district is struggling to pay their bills. That’s what we’re supposed to be focusing on.....”

Will Hispanics/Latinos "go right back to being Democrats"?

Calling Flores a "far right Latina" is not going to play well with working class minority voters. All of them. Not just this particular base. But that's the critical distinction, it's an unspoken declaration of war from the Limousine Liberal class against every day working Americans.

The real danger to Team Blue is that Flores is authentic and she has nothing to lose and she has no real political savvy. She's clearly not an establishment Republican. The Identity Politics current reality means she has an instant platform and she's very difficult to "cancel"  She will appeal organically to suburban women voters.

All attacks on Flores is a proxy for a widespread attack, yet another one from Team Blue, onto said working class folk.

There's a point when no coverage by the activist complicit MSM is better than any coverage at all. There is no practical counter narrative here. There is no way to control the spin around Flores. If they push the QAnon angle, it opens up the Epstein/Bill Clinton angle, and that starts to hamper Hillary Clinton's interference and designs to enter the 2024 POTUS fray.

That's a great article, Boston, thanks for sharing it with all of us here.

Medina, of course, portrays Flores as a religious weirdo. “As she moved into her congressional office across from the Capitol, Ms. Flores, an evangelical Christian, eyed the bare walls. She planned to put up a large photo of the SpaceX launch site in her district as well as images of Jesus,” Medina reports. “She had campaigned with the support of evangelical churches; her pastor carried out a ‘Make America Godly Again’ outreach effort and traveled to Washington for her swearing-in.”

Flores: I was born in Burgos, Tamaulipas, Mexico, and raised with strong Conservative values to always put God and Family first. I have received only hate from the liberal media and constantly [been] told by the left to go back to Mexico. They don’t support us immigrants, they only use us for political power and don’t care about our well-being. I am here now and I won’t allow them to continue taking advantage of my people. The NYT knows nothing about me or our culture. Somos gente de Dios, Familia y Travajo [We are people of God, Family and Work], Si Señor!”

The most interesting thing about Flores in the article is she absolutely means it. She's saying things that most "professional" politicians won't say, they'll want to ride the middle and not offend away potential future donors.

And she's saying the obvious here - Team Blue didn't deliver for her people. And they seem shockingly OK with losing the entire Christian/Evangelical vote as well.

You have to deliver wins for people who vote for you. It's the same reason Biden will lose many younger voters. Now they may not vote for Trump or a Republican, but now they are incentivized to try to primary out as many establishment Democrats as possible. Which is just as bad since it creates a two front war for the Democratic Party.

But as soon as Latinos realize that Republicans have no answers for inflation either, and only want to shut down our southern border and blame illegal immigrants for all of our problems, Latinos will go right back to the Democrats again.

Nearly a quarter of Hispanics said they preferred to be called “Hispanic” and 15% preferred the label “Latino” over “LatinX,” according to a Gallup poll....Forty percent of Hispanics are offended or bothered by the term “LatinX,” according to a Bendixen & Amandi International poll. The poll also found that 28% of U.S-born and 35% of foreign-born Hispanics were less likely to support a candidate labeling their demographic as “LatinX.”

Direct Headline: GOP basks in growing Latino outreach success

Republicans are actively courting Hispanic voters in key competitive House districts, hoping to peel away voters from Democrats repeating their historical pattern of investing little and late in reaching out to Latinos. The GOP’s approach is a danger to Democrats, as Hispanic voters are likely to play a key role in at least a dozen districts in the November midterm elections. ...“It couldn’t be a starker contrast between Republicans and Democrats as we engage and do outreach to minority voters, and specifically the Hispanic community,” said Danielle Alvarez, communications director for the GOP....

Hispanic Democrats in Congress outnumber Republicans 4 to 1, but the Republican Party has recruited a new generation of Hispanic candidates at breakneck speed, most notably in Texas, but also in states like Oregon and Virginia.  ...The National Republican Congressional Committee says it has recruited a total of 102 Hispanic candidates in this cycle. ...Excitement about making inroads in the Hispanic community led Reps. Tony Gonzales (R-Texas) and Mario Diaz-Balart (R-Fla.) to launch the Hispanic Leadership Trust PAC in May, aimed at growing the number of Hispanic members in the House....

....Republicans argue they started their 2022 outreach early by opening community centers where staff work to build relationships with Hispanic communities, recruit and train volunteers, register voters and turn them out to vote.  ...The GOP Latino community centers have opened in places where Hispanics traditionally yield political power like Texas and Florida, but also in places where growing Hispanic communities are shifting election results, like Georgia, Pennsylvania, Nebraska and Wisconsin. Out of 30 RNC community centers targeting minority communities, 12 are Hispanic community centers. ....In the five Texan districts along the U.S.-Mexico border, all 10 major party House candidates are Hispanics with ties to local communities.....

The GOP , but most particularly Ronna McDaniel and RNC HQ, are making an actual investment in getting and retaining the Hispanic/Latino vote. The key point there is vote retention. There are community centers and a hard push, with financial backing, for a full wave of Hispanic GOP candidates, many with working class and local roots. There's a pathway for creating financial leverage with a new PAC. This is the same slow grind methodology that Pro Life Republicans used for decades to build the asset base to go after Roe Vs Wade.

Whatever criticisms you have regarding the GOP, they are looking at the actual landscape on the ground, and putting in the grind to use actual democratic processes to take and hold this voting block. At least they have a plan. Even if it fails, it's a plan. The Democrats don't appear to have anything to offer except the track record of ignoring these voters for so long.

"Go right back" to what exactly? To the same empty promises that didn't deliver?

You say Republicans have no answers, but they just backed and supported 102 new Hispanic candidates, built community centers, started a PAC and got Mayra Flores into office, which flipped a seat that was hard Blue.

Whether or not the GOP can deliver is one thing, but the doubt of actual investment is not something you can claim here.

Rep. More specifically, blogger McHale Report has been paid to run the labels on behalf of the Democratic candidate, with "Miss Frijoles" running 20 times so far!

To her credit, Mayra Flores responded pretty gracefully to her opponent's open racism, saying she loves frijoles and isn't embarrassed about her Hispanic culture.Flores is the first conservative to be elected in the 34th district of Texas since the Civil War, and the first representative in U.S. history originally born in Mexico. A blogger in Texas that racially targeted GOP Rep. Mayra Flores after he was paid twice by Democratic Rep. ....In a June 18 post, McHale, describing a conversation he had with a friend, wrote, "Maclovio O'Malley, la Voz de los Vatos who wants me to put an ad of Vicente Gonzalez in front of my businesses although I have to admit that I would risk my relationship with lovely Amanda for a night with Mayra Flores, says that the Oyster Bar food smells like rotten p**sy. And I have had more than my share of rotten p**sy that I don't want to endure that culinary catastrophe again."...McHale said he had "no problems" with the post referencing Flores and the oyster bar....On July 2, McHale published another blog post quoting an individual identified as Maclovio O'Malley as having said, "Who does this Mayra Flores think she is? Somebody said she was crowned Miss Frijoles 2022 in San Benito. She isn't in Congressman Vicente Gonzalez's league. She isn't even in the bush leagues unless she doesn't shave her p**sy."

....In a statement to Fox News Digital, Flores responded to the posts and accused Gonzalez of hiring the blogger to attack her Hispanic heritage and sexually degrade her, calling the action "truly sick."...."I am disgusted that Vicente Gonzalez has hired a creepy blogger to attack my Mexican heritage and sexually degrade me, but I won’t let this distract me from my work," she said. "I came to Congress to represent my community’s values: God, Family and Country. Vicente Gonzalez is an example of everything that’s wrong with Washington. He doesn’t have a record to stand on, so he hires a pervert to attack me. It’s truly sick!"

Asked whether there were appropriate times to use the N-word, McHale, who has used the word dozens of times in blog posts since 2018, said, "Sure. Read [William] Faulkner...."

Will Hispanics and Latinos "go right back to being Democrats"?

Mayra Flores is working class. Her husband is working class. The people around her and supported her campaign are working class. Her Democratic opponent, Vicente Gonzalez hired a racist blogger, with actual campaign dollars,  to smear Flores. Calling her "Miss Frijoles" and a "cotton picker" and keeps talking about her need to shave her genital region. The same blogger who routinely use the N-word.

How do you think that kind of scandal paints the entire Democratic Party to the working class in Flores' district?

Smearing a working class mother who is also a devout Christian and her husband is a respected Border Patrol agent for the crime of actually winning a historic election.

Do you think the Hispanics and Latino voters are going to support a Party that enables those to keep calling them as ethnic food, mocks them and calls the "cotton pickers"?

Here's a crazy idea - Instead of taking the Hispanic/Latino vote for granted and spitting in their faces with clear open racism, how about having Team Blue actually push real public policy that makes their lives better? How about delivering some wins for those communities and be responsive to the needs of the people in those districts? How hard is that? How hard is it to not be an open racist and just focus on making the lives of every day people materially better so they build a future for their children?

Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas said Monday at the Aspen Security Forum that the border is "secure."...Multiple Border Patrol agents are pushing back against Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas’ claim that the southern border is "secure" -- just as agents on the frontlines of the historic migrant crisis are struggling to cope with the overwhelming numbers facing them....There were more than 207,000 migrant encounters in June alone, the fourth month in a row where the number of encounters breached the 200,000 mark. But Mayorkas, speaking at the Aspen Security Forum on Tuesday, dismissed claims about the border not being secure......

"Look, the border is secure," he said. "We are working to make the border more secure. That has been a historic challenge.....I have said to a number of legislators who expressed to me that we need to address the challenge at the border before they pass legislation and I take issue with the math of holding the solution hostage until the problem is resolved....."

But Border Patrol agents who spoke to Fox News Digital did not share Mayorkas’ assessment. ...."Hundreds of thousands crossing every month is not the definition of secure," one agent said. "They are liars and anyone who believes them are fools."

Brandon Judd, President of the National Border Patrol Council (NBPC) also disputed that the border is secure, pointing to not only the drug flows into the U.S., but also the number of migrants that get past agents..... A high-level CBP source told Fox News last month that there have been 440,000 known gotaways since the fiscal year began in October -- with over 50,000 in May. Combined with the 400,000 known gotaways since the beginning of FY 2021, that means that more than 800,000 illegal immigrants have gotten past agents since October 2020.....

"As bad as the apprehension numbers are, and they are beyond bad, the scariest part of border security is the gotaways and the amount of drugs that are coming into the country," Judd told Fox News Digital. "Secretary Mayorkas knows the cartels use illegal border crossers to facilitate their higher value contraband including criminal aliens and fentanyl....Secretary Mayorkas knows we have the least secure border in our history as evidenced by nearly one million known gotaways and over 100,000 overdose deaths from narcotics coming across our southwest border.....There are easy solutions but based upon the evidence and a refusal to implement programs to secure the border it is clear this Administration including Secretary Mayorkas clearly does not care about the American people......"

Another Border Patrol source told Fox News Digital that Mayorkas is telling "bold face lies" to the American people....."They're using issues like poverty, crime and climate change as reasons for asylum but those do not meet the legal standard of the law," they said, before saying the majority of asylum claims are "absolutely bogus....."

Biden going to war with the Border Patrol means they've spent all this time accumulating data and evidence when "Uncle Joe" gets impeached after the Mid Terms.

It's unavoidable at this point.

This is where the attempt to scapegoat Border Patrol with the whipping story fabrication gets ugly - What about the cages? Who built the cages, Joe?

There's also the dovetail into the Baby Formula Crisis. Border Patrol just needs to have taken lots of footage of illegal immigrants getting pallets and truckloads of baby formula while American mothers frantically can't find it for their infants.

Biden and Susan Rice have put Border Patrol in a position where they have nothing to lose at this point. The temporary deflection on the false whipping claims will end up in the impeachment hearing. But strategically, it's setting the pathway for Team Blue to lose actual long term legacy votes from the Hispanic/Latino base, the Southern Border base and the military/law enforcement base. That's a lot of carnage for a media flier that was woefully ineffective.

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

I fail to see how what is happening at the border is "strategically...setting the pathway for Team Blue to lose actual long term legacy votes from the Hispanic/Latino base"

Direct Headline: U.S. Rep. Joaquin Castro, Latino groups warn about rampant misinformation targeting Spanish speakers ahead of the elections

by Robert Downen Oct. 13, 20225 PM Central

..... (DEMOCRAT) U.S. Rep. Joaquin Castro, D-San Antonio, has joined a coalition of Latino organizations in their calls for social media platforms to do more to combat dangerous conspiracies and electoral misinformation aimed at Spanish-speaking communities..... says that Spanish speakers are particularly vulnerable because of their heavy use of platforms such as YouTube and WhatsApp, where disinformation on voting has spread in the leadup to the 2022 midterm elections. They cite an ongoing flood of conspiracies and extremist rhetoric......

“We are being lied to and discouraged to exercise our right to vote on a massive scale,” said Brenda Victoria Castillo, president and CEO of the National Hispanic Media Coalition. “And people like Mark Zuckerberg are doing very little while they profit.....Latinos are affected by a different misinformation environment than reaches the U.S. population at large, and are often targeted in ways specific to their national background.....For instance, many of their sources played up worries about socialism..... said Thursday that there’s been a significant uptick in “propaganda” in recent months, including conspiracies about the Internal Revenue Service and comparisons of President Joe Biden to communist Latin American dictators......

***********

"I'm getting asked if I'm getting asked back home about the AP story or about Benghazi and those are important things but back home people are talking about the economy and jobs....." - Joaquin Castro, first year in Congress

"There's also concern about finding out, making a determination, whether any American or Americans cooperated with... Russian intelligence agencies in this endeavor...." - U.S. Rep. Joaquin Castro raised questions in committee about whether any Americans cooperated with Russian intelligence to interfere in the 2016 general election

Joaquin Castro is looking at massive losses in Hispanic/Latino voters, even in his own district, and he claims that the real problem is not Joe Biden's insane Border Crisis related policies along with all his other failures, but that Big Social Media is not doing enough to get the leftist message out there to the public at large.

He goes as far as to say the big problem with so many Hispanic/Latino voters turning away from the Democratic Party must be because Mark "Zuck Bucks" Zuckerberg has done so very little to help the current Democratic Party. But he ignores the fact that he himself posted onto social media a Trump donor list, from people in his own district, that many have accused as a political "hit list"

When asked about Obama and Benghazi? Pretends he didn't even hear the question.

When Castro had the opportunity to push the Russian interference narrative in the 2016 cycle? Did it at every opportunity in public.

How about just making the lives of the working class, particularly Hispanic and Latino voters, in your district materially better? How about something that simple? People will want to vote for you and your Party if you do that.

Castro wants to blame Zuckerberg for not doing more to help the Democrats win elections. By estimates, in the 2020 general cycle, Zuckerberg spent 419 million to impact the outcome in favor of Team Blue. FOUR HUNDRED AND NINETEEN MILLION DOLLARS.

This is what Team Blue gets for ignoring the Hispanic/Latino voting block and taking their votes for granted.
