Third-year WR Josh Boyce had a nightmare outing in Thursday’s preseason loss to the Packers, logging just two catches for 19 yards on a game-high 11 targets.
Boyce was a train wreck from start to finish. He dropped passes, gave up on his routes and just didn’t fight hard enough for the ball. Boyce showed zero chemistry with Jimmy Garoppolo, who for some reason insisted on throwing him the deep ball. There’s no question Boyce has great speed but he wasn’t fooling anyone in the Packers’ secondary. This would have been a good chance for Boyce to showcase himself with Julian Edelman, Brandon LaFell and Brian Tyms all sitting out with injuries. Instead it's back to the drawing board for the third-year wideout.
