i was wondering around when do the start up drafts usually happen? and also the rookie drafts. im very new to this haha.

Anytime you want......With rookie drafts some people hold off until close to the season starting, some can't wait and hold it right after the NFL draft, you could even do it before the draft. There are exciting benefits and challenges to all options.

im actually going to be the commissioner this year. i guess i can set it whenever, i was just wondering the standard.

We do our rookie/free agent drafts over the course of the summer.
In one league we do the following:
Round 1 Weekend after NFL draft
Round 2 First Weekend June
Round 3 First Weekend July
Round 4 First Weekend August
Round 5 after last preseason game and before week 1.
This keeps interest up all summer. Also, increases value of first picks in each round as "flavor of the month" prospects pop up through out the summer. This allows the bad teams to get better quicker by either using the pick or trading it for a higher value. If you do all 5 rounds at once the 3.1 would have very low value. But in the couple of weeks between the end of round 2 and the start of round 3, the 3.1 can skyrocket in value...sometimes to more than what a mid to late first round pick would bring.
