Cecil Shorts wr Jax (2 Viewers)

Is Haden still a shut down corner?
All corners are struggling this year with the new rules and Joe is dealing with a hip injury that he suffered two weeks ago but last year the Jags beat the Browns one a late 20 yard TD reception to Shorts over Haden who had held Cecil to 5 catches for only 45 yards up to that point and in that game Haden had an interception so he basically had shut him out till that late TD and Joe remembers and he appears to want pay-back today.

Last year he was on the brink of tears in the locker room after that game. It really effected him and when Joe gets upset he tends to really take out the WR who upset him the next game. See how he basically shut down A.J. Green last year after Green took advantage of him the previous year when Joe was trying to play through injuries. I'd never seen Joe that intense against any WR before or since and I have never seen Joe so upset as he was last year against the Jags.

Question is how much his hip is still hurting and if that impacts him. Last week he appeared to not have the same hops early in the game and Antonio Brown was able to go up high uncontested where if Joe was healthy he would have elevated and made plays on the ball.

Not sure how it plays out today but I wouldn't be counting any chickens with Cecil Shorts matched up against a VERY motivated Joe Haden.

Despite the bad game Shorts still led the team in targets with 9 and in red zone targets with 4.
and Bortles missed him wide open on an easy slant in the endzone. Should have been a touchdown and it would have saved his day.

WIDE OPEN.

Shorts is just too inconsitent and injury prone to own at this point, despite how many targets he might get. Most weeks he suffers from Rueben Randle syndrome anyways. Lots of targets and no production.

Cecil Shorts - WR - Jaguars

ESPN Jaguars reporter Michael DiRocco calls Cecil Shorts "the most logical player" to pick up the bulk of the production lost by Allen Robinson's season-ending foot injury.

Robinson was placed on I.R. with a broken foot on Tuesday. He had become Blake Bortles' favorite target, the go-to guy on third downs, and the Jaguars' leading receiver. Shorts and Allen Hurns will now be every-down receivers with Marqise Lee picking up extended looks in three-wide sets. Shorts hasn't scored since Week 3, but is averaging 7.5 targets per game the past four weeks. He could see double-digit looks down the stretch. Hurns may be the better bet for touchdowns.

Rotoworld:

Cecil Shorts caught one pass for six yards in the Jaguars' Week 12 loss to the Colts.

Shorts didn't see a target until deep into the second half. One of our favorite Week 12 value plays, Shorts couldn't get anything going with Blake Bortles crumbling in the pocket and refusing to take any shots downfield. Shorts will be a WR4 against Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and the Giants in Week 13.

Jaguars WR Cecil Shorts has the flu.

On the heels of a wildly disappointing 1-6-0 Week 12 outing against the Colts, Shorts did not practice Wednesday. We'd expect him to be fine for Week 13, but he's a tough sell as a fantasy start against the Giants. Blake Bortles is regressing and Shorts could see plenty of Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie.

Cecil Shorts - WR - Jaguars

The Jaguars aren't expected to re-sign impending free agent Cecil Shorts.

Neither do we. Shorts didn't make any big plays in his contract-year, failing to score a single touchdown after Week 1, and has also battled a multitude of soft-tissue injuries over the past couple seasons. He's looking like the new Miles Austin. The Jaguars will move forward with Allen Robinson, Marqise Lee, and Allen Hurns at receiver and possibly add another to the mix. Shorts is unlikely to command much guaranteed money on the open market in March.

Been avoiding him because of the drops and situations (Gabbert/Henne/Rookie), but injuries have impeded him even more than the other two factors. He might be worth a look as a low risk/high upside fantasy WR5 if he lands somewhere nice as a WR2.

Rotoworld:

ESPN Jaguars reporter Michael DiRocco's "best guess" is that free agent Cecil Shorts signs with the Browns.
DiRocco is merely connecting dots, but it makes sense. Shorts grew up and went to high school and college in Cleveland and nearby Alliance, respectively. The Browns are in desperate need for receiver help with Josh Gordon suspended for the 2015 season and Miles Austin a free agent. Shorts also won't be expensive after a down year. He could rehab his value as Cleveland's No. 1 receiver.

Out of the dumpster , into the dumpster fire
As long as he's the only wr in that dumpster fire, that's OK.
Its not ok for any wr who is or will be playing for cleveland. If shorts value could get any lower it would if he went to cleveland. he isnt good and is always hurt combine that with being on the browns how is that ok. Stay away in redraft and take what you can get in dynasty if people are willing to make an offer on an often hurt drop crazy wr who may play for the browns.

It depends on what they do at QB. Earlier in the season when Hoyer was playing reasonably well, Andrew Hawkins, Miles Austin, Taylor Gabriel and Travis Benjamin all had some nice games. The problem was of course choosing the right one, but with a more "established" WR like Shorts, he could become more consistent as one of the top two WRs there.

No one is willing to offer anything now, or if he goes to Cleveland, but he's already shown he can produce in ppr in a dumpster fire if he's the only show in town.

Rotoworld:

ESPN Cleveland doesn't expect the Browns to sign free agent WR Cecil Shorts.

Shorts has been previously linked to Cleveland, but the Browns are believed to be higher on Brian Hartline. A declining talent with a history of soft-tissue injuries, Shorts could struggle for guaranteed money beyond 2015. Shorts is Rotoworld's No. 8 available wideout.

Rotoworld:

The Miami Herald reports the Dolphins have "(internally discussed)" free agent Cecil Shorts.

Cleaning house at receiver, the Dolphins would be buying low on a player who appeared on the verge of exploding in 2012. Per reporter Barry Jackson, the Dolphins like what Shorts brings after the catch. According to Pro Football Focus, Shorts averaged 5.1 yards after the catch in 2014, a nice number. Recently released Brian Hartline and Brandon Gibson offered nothing after the catch.

Rotoworld:

Free agent Cecil Shorts is drawing interest from the Jets.

Adding Shorts makes sense because it would open up space for Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker. The Browns might be considered a slight favorite to land Shorts because he grew up in Cleveland, but the Jets are having a big offseason and can't be discounted. The Dolphins are also in on Shorts.

Union-Tribune San Diego confirms the Chargers have interest in free agent WR Cecil Shorts.

Shorts would give the Chargers a slot receiver to replace Eddie Royal. He's also drawn interest from the Jets, Browns and Dolphins, but has yet to visit with any teams. Shorts is Rotoworld's No. 5 available wideout.

ESPN Cleveland's Tony Grossi does not believe free agent WR Cecil Shorts will sign with the Browns.

A Cleveland native, Shorts was linked with the Browns from the start both because of his roots and Cleveland's desperate need for wide receivers. Shorts has also drawn interest from the Jets, Chargers and Dolphins. He is Rotoworld's No. 4 available wide receiver.

Rotoworld:

Texans agreed to terms with WR Cecil Shorts, formerly of the Jaguars, on a two-year, $6 million contract.

For now, Shorts will slot in as the Texans' No. 2 receiver. Shorts is capable of playing both inside and out, but might be best left in the slot at this stage of his career. Shorts flirted with stardom in 2012 before soft-tissue injuries and quarterback issues derailed his 2013-14. Still only 27, Shorts still has some upside to offer, but his injury woes coupled with the Texans' quarterback issues make him an unlikely fantasy-rebound candidate. The Texans shouldn't be done adding bodies at receiver.

This is actually quite good news for his value in PPR. The Texans have moved away a little bit from the run, run, run strategy and have no alternatives in the short to intermediate space. The lack of proper QB is certainly a problem, but - if Shorts stays healthy - something like 70-90 receptions seems reasonable.

Rotoworld:

Cecil Shorts caught one pass for 58 yards and a touchdown in the Texans preseason opener.

The Texans only played their starters one series. Shorts, DeAndre Hopkins, and Nate Washington lined up with the first team. Shorts showed good speed on his touchdown, outrunning 49ers S Antoine Bethea. With rookie Jaelen Strong's early-season role up in the air, Shorts could open the year behind only Hopkins for targets.

ESPN's Adam Caplan reports Cecil Shorts has a dislocated left shoulder.

Shorts suffered the injury on the final play of Sunday's loss to Atlanta. The Texans also lost Nate Washington to a hamstring injury against the Falcons, and Washington did not return. They may have to throw fifth-round rookie Keith Mumphery into the starting lineup on Thursday night against the Colts. Third-round pick Jaelen Strong could also get his first NFL action.

This guy flies under the radar but Hoyer likes him quite a bit AND he has the whole going against my old team bump this week. This is a very sneaky start if you need a flex or #3/#4 WR.

Bucs signed WR Cecil Shorts to a one-year contract.
Pushed out by the Texans' youth movement at receiver, Shorts has landed on his feet with a team where he should immediately slot in as the No. 3 receiver. That's literally and figuratively, as the slot should be Shorts' home in Tampa. Shorts is still only 28, but prone to soft-tissue injuries. He'll be well behind Mike Evans and Vincent Jackson on the targets totem pole, and doesn't figure to come into 2016 fantasy value.
