I'm worried about this as well. BUT...we have long time Raider fans who went from Oak to LA when they moved to LA. And LA to OAK when they moved back to OAK. So I gotta imagine the combo of diehards traveling from BOTH Oak and LA, plus new local fans, will at least fill up 3/4s of the new stadium. PLUS, Raiders fans from everywhere will have a "destination" game to attend. Fingers crossed. One thing thst is going to be very interesting to see with the new stadium is how much of a home field advantage the Raiders will end up having. It sure seems like being in Vegas means other teams are going to have a lot of fans who are motivated to travel there to watch the games. Then you're going to have hotels and casinos buying tickets for corporate giveaways. I could see this new stadium being the best game day in the NFL, but also the worst home field advantage for any team. Seems like there could be a pretty high price point for the hardcore Raider fan to attend each game.
Much more likely that I travel to LV for a weekend compared to Oakland. Nothing wrong wrong with CA but it's not Vegas.PLUS, Raiders fans from everywhere will have a "destination" game to attend. Fingers crossed.
I’m with you. Heck, I live in Marin County, CA, only 45 minutes from the Colosseum, and I haven’t been to a game in over a decade, choosing my couch over that dump. But their move to Vegas has me and some buddies talking about taking a trip next season for a Guy's Weekend and a Raider game.Much more likely that I travel to LV for a weekend compared to Oakland. Nothing wrong wrong with CA but it's not Vegas.
I'd like to imagine Mayock has been on the phone for weeks now trying to sow the seeds of doing just that already. Hell, I wonder if we try to use our first round picks to move up further to try and grab a guy like Jeudy.joey said:will be very interesting to see if they move up into the 2nd or early 3rd with all those 3rd round picks.
Gonna be an exciting draft.
This draft is loaded with WR. Moving up is fine but there is no need to give up much. It’s highly possible that the 4th or 5th WR taken is very productive and could even match the production of the first WR taken.I'd like to imagine Mayock has been on the phone for weeks now trying to sow the seeds of doing just that already. Hell, I wonder if we try to use our first round picks to move up further to try and grab a guy like Jeudy.
I though Buckner did a good job this year. Leaps and bounds better than last year and this gets you fired ?We have fired Buckner and set to hire Rod Marinelli as DL coach.
I liked Buckner. I got the feeling that the players loved Buckner. I think Buckner will be a rising star. That all being said.... Marinelli is a proven stud coach on D. Wish the best to Buckner. Hope we can keep Marinelli on board and he doesn't get a DC next year somewhere else. (or maybe this is an heir apparent move for Guenther if we do not see major improvement on the D side this next year?)
I did too, the guy brought us from a truly bottom barrel D with the least amount of sacks to, well, decidedly not that.I though Buckner did a good job this year. Leaps and bounds better than last year and this gets you fired ?
I live here in Vegas. I get mixed reviews on how much the city is embracing the team. Some are concerned about traffic, the tax money spent, & also Raiders fans don’t have the best reputation. Lol. I really don’t think traffic will be a huge problem since it’s only 8 home games. Parking, however, will be an issue. From what I've been hearing/reading, Vegas locals have already embraced the team. And as others have already suggested, there will be Raider fans from across the world flying in for games in LV, whereas most of them wouldn't have even considered a trip to Oakland (or even L.A. - at the Coliseum). The key to the home field advantage will the be competitiveness of the team. If they rock, so too will the fans. If they don't, then they will see a stadium half (or more) filled with opposing colors, rather than half or more empty. Either way, miggitty Mark makes the cash he needs to fund this operation. Finally.
When the Raiders acquired Brown the roster had 5 All-pro or former All-pro players on the offensive line. Shell, Upshaw, Otto, Mix, Brown.https://youtu.be/1ZAJQwoDzDQ
Great video of Bob Brown.
Guy's best days were behind him by the time he got to the team but man was he a perfect Raider.
The Mean Joe Greene quote was phenomenal.
Makes you realize that though players today are so much bigger, stronger, faster, and more athletic they might still have a lot of trouble playing against these kinds of players who brought this style of play.
Except for maybe Garrett.
Fans always dream of trading up to get a brand names in a draft. Arguably the team's biggest needs is a true #1 WR. This draft has strong talent at the position so there is no need to move up. Hell, very early mocks have Ruggs going around 19th. Someone with that type of speed would have a major impact on the complexion of the pass game. But, specific players aside, the point is there is strong depth at the position so no need to trade up.Now that Houston is out the Raiders picks are set.

I know that I’m repeating myself here but I’ totally agree with you. The draft is loaded at WR and the Raiders can stay put in the first round and land their starting WR. At the same time, I don’t think acquiringmore picks with one of the third round picks is necessary either. There could be some value in the third round and the Raiders could snag an immediate starter or two on D which would be huge.32 Counter Pass said:Fans always dream of trading up to get a brand names in a draft. If anything, I would anticipate the team trades one of their 3rd round picks to acquire more picks in later rounds. The fans should applaud that sort of move if last year's results are any indication. Crosby, Renfro and Moreau were all selected after the 3rd round.
Please no.TOM BRADYQB, NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS
ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Raiders will pursue Tom Brady if he doesn't re-sign with the Patriots.
The Raiders are the second team connected to Brady after NFL Network linked the Chargers as a "legitimate option." The interest isn't surprising — Brady was spotted with Raiders owner Mark Davis in Las Vegas last month — but whether they can lure Brady from New England "remains uncertain." The Patriots are willing to pay Brady in excess of $30 million to stay in New England, so money won't be the only deciding factor of where Brady plays next season. Brady is expected to make a decision on his future well before the free-agent period begins on March 18.
I cannot believe the Raiders would be so stupid but this is a move the dumb Raiders would make. Brady is not good enough to bother with or throw over $30 million towards.Of all the stuff we've been put through as fans, adding Brady would top the list of stupid.
I’ve been heckling my raider fan friends all day with this.Of all the stuff we've been put through as fans, adding Brady would top the list of stupid.
Carr is a better QB right now if you give him the weapons & let him run a little.I don't think it's a great idea, but i would prefer him over Carr.
IMO, Moving to Vegas is a nice shot in the arm with the new stadium and a promising young team.I’ve been heckling my raider fan friends all day with this.
if moving to Vegas didn’t shake em, this sure AF will.
there is much anger in raider nation today.
Love the first two but I’m not a fan of Anderson. Inconsistent fast WRs that open up the field should not be a priority and should not be where a decent amount of money is spent.Free Agency wish list. If Raiders shore up these spots they can sit back and take BPA. Jones is the cream of the crop. Post Super Bowl he was talking about staying in KC and building a dynasty. $40mill to Mahomes might make that hard for KC to do. Hopefully a huge pile of cash and tickets to KA can change his mind.

2. Chris Jones, DT, Chiefs (25)
Jones has proved to be a highly disruptive inside pass rusher in two schemes over two massive seasons. He's an explosive talent for any front and the Chiefs may need to franchise-tag him (at around $15.5 million guaranteed) for 2020. The challenges to giving him a big contract are a past one to Frank Clark and a monster future one for Patrick Mahomes while working with limited cap space.
13. Cory Littleton, ILB, Rams (26)
Littleton is a highly active tackler and one of the best cover men at his position because of his quickness, range and instincts. He also can be effective going after the quarterback as a blitzer.
30. Robby Anderson, WR, Jets (26)
Anderson is much like Perriman, given his spike also came in December, but he's more of a pure field-stretcher coming off a 52-catch, 779-yard, 5-TD season. The supply of wideout help is limited enough where demand can get him a generous deal, but likely out of New York.
The donkeys have probably found their QB and have some young, decent talent but I wouldn’t crown them champs of the AFC W in 2020 just yet..I don’t think Brady wants any part of the AFC west.....because you are basically going to be fighting for at best the 5th seed in the playoffs for the foreseeable future.....
It's a particularly weak WR free agent class. I'd actually prefer they sign E. Sanders to a 2 year deal to add some veteran leadership for whoever we draft.Love the first two but I’m not a fan of Anderson. Inconsistent fast WRs that open up the field should not be a priority and should not be where a decent amount of money is spent.
A top WR is likely drafted in the first round. That moves Tyrell to his correct WR 2 spot and Renfrow looks like a great slot WR. Adding another WR from FA for depth is necessary but should not be at much cost. The Raiders need LBs and a CB badly. The D line can never be good enough either. Getting young depth at the O line should occur as well. It's a particularly weak WR free agent class. I'd actually prefer they sign E. Sanders to a 2 year deal to add some veteran leadership for whoever we draft.
I think you nailed it -- the ONLY way this REMOTELY makes sense is if the team sheds Carr for a rookie QB that Brady can groom. Even then, this makes absolutely zero sense to me as Carr right now>>>paying more money than is reasonable for a breaking-down Brady for a year and the off chance that a rookie can become, what, a slightly better Carr?(If money is not an issue).....meaning it doesn’t really hurt you elsewhere.....I’m trying to think of when adding Brady to your team is not a good thing.....sign Brady......trade Carr.....draft a young guy to sit for a year or so....
only thing is.....I don’t think Brady wants any part of Mahomes/Reid twice a year.......I don’t think Brady wants any part of the AFC west.....because you are basically going to be fighting for at best the 5th seed in the playoffs for the foreseeable future.....
@DocHolliday took the words from my mouth - would love Jone/Littleton, or a Van Noy, Shaq Barrett or Jamie Collins. Robbie Anderson is sound but not so much separation b/w him as a WR1 and Ty Williams as a WR2. I would really want to see us somehow land Lamb (not likely) or Ruggs (slightly more likely) but they are no guarantees either, but - as @SDJohnny astutely points out -- they are better bets than a really thin WR FA class. Ironically Amari Cooper is likely the best WR FA.Free Agency wish list.

I don’t see the Garner comp either. I see a small, electric RB that is only useful as a pass catcher. Raiders still need a big RB to wear down defenses and to spell Jacobs. The #Raiders and RB Jalen Richard have agreed on a contract extension, as @RapSheet tweeted. Will back up Josh Jacobs. Gruden has compared Richard to Charlie Garner, so you knew there was a great chance he was back.
Seems like a lot for him. Great pass catcher, didn't see him breaking a lot of tackles. Sure as heck don't see the Garner comp when I watch him.
I am with you on Chris Jones. Jones, Hurst, Hankins and Hall could be a deadly rotation lead by Jones. That is assuming that the Chefs do not franchise him but as it is mentioned above, it is going to start getting very tight for them to make deals work and structure them to keep all the guys they have around. If he is available, I would be happy making him our top priority even though other positions are of higher need than DT. If we get more of a consistent push up the middle that would help Ferrell and Crosby on the edges for sure as well as I believe if you have a guy like Jones and can rotate Hurst, Hankins and Hall it will elevate all of their games. I like Armistead as a close plan B and Hargrave as plan but priority wise, I think if we miss on Jones then this position isn't as important to fill as the others below.Free Agency wish list. This signing surprised me. Figured only one of Richard or Washington would be extended. The contract likely doesn't mean that Richard is a Raider over the next two years. Just figured that they'd keep Jacobs + FA + Washington + Crowell (?) + Ingold(RotoWire) Richard (ankle) signed a two-year contract extension with the Raiders on Wednesday, Scott Bair of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Analysis: Richard has spent his entire four-year NFL career in Oakland, and he's now set to remain with the Raiders as the team transitions to Las Vegas. The 26-year-old plays a valuable change-of-pace role in the Raiders' offense, and he also offers upside in the kick return game on special teams. In the event that workhorse running back Josh Jacobs (shoulder) manages to improve as a pass-catcher in his sophomore season, however, it could detract from Richard's usage out of the backfield. Richard appeared to suffer an ankle injury during the 2019 season-finale against Denver, and the details of his recovery remain undisclosed.
2 years, $7 mil for Richard. $4.6 mil guaranteed.

Henry is about to get a big fat contract (well, for RB's). I can't see that happening though it would be fun to see.Sign Derrick Henry (to a Reggie/Mayock special - big $$$, little guaranteed) and unleash the Henry/Jacobs combo on the league.
Upgrades both Carr and the Defense instantly!
Washington and Crowell are FA's now. This signing surprised me. Figured only one of Richard or Washington would be extended. The contract likely doesn't mean that Richard is a Raider over the next two years. Just figured that they'd keep Jacobs + FA + Washington + Crowell (?) + Ingold
Completely agree that we need a back up with some power. I think there will be someone there in the 3rd round they can get.I don’t see the Garner comp either. I see a small, electric RB that is only useful as a pass catcher. Raiders still need a big RB to wear down defenses and to spell Jacobs.
I think you have it. Gruden is a fan, and kept him around for his contribution and fit to scheme, as opposed to upside.Gruden likes Richard's football acumen...No need to bring in a FA 3rd down back that may not take the the offense as well as what he has on hand if the ultimate goal is to have Jacobs be the workhorse. So now we just need that backup early down back.
I'd be happy with Lamb or Jeudy at 12, but I think there is a chance both will be off the board. I hope not, but Cards and Jets could both take WRs. I wouldn't rule out the Jags taking a WR either. If Simmons is there at 12 I think I would run the pick up and take WR at 19. If Simmons is gone and Lamb or Jeudy are there then take WR at 12 and someone like Kenneth Murray at 19.I think you have it. Gruden is a fan, and kept him around for his contribution and fit to scheme, as opposed to upside.
I hate this time of year as the mock drafts start to ramp up.
Seeing mocks where the Raiders easily snag Jeudy/Lamb then Simmons, or Simmons/Ruggs really get my heart pounding too fast and my excitement up too high. Need more doses of reality.
That said, I do think it's possible that that could happen. I see 4 QBs going before our pick. Bengals, Miami, Chargers, Panthers (I think Cam will leave in FA). Giants and Cards are likely to go OL to protect up and coming franchise QBs. WAS gets Chase at #2 overall.
That leaves the Lions at pick 3, Jags and CLE at 9/10, and the Jets. Lions are likely to go Okudah to shore up their worst pass D in the league in ypg, and can see CLE perhaps going OL or DL.
Jets likely take a WR.
So that does give us the choice of Simmons and one of Jeudy/Lamb.
The first round picks should fall right into the Raiders lap. Icons logic is sound. The Raiders must have a WR 1 and this draft is full of potential great WRs. The other pick in the first round should start the process of taking the BPA on D for most of the remaining picks in the draft. Oline and RB can be addressed in the mid to late rounds but FA may help here.I'd be happy with Lamb or Jeudy at 12, but I think there is a chance both will be off the board. I hope not, but Cards and Jets could both take WRs. I wouldn't rule out the Jags taking a WR either. If Simmons is there at 12 I think I would run the pick up and take WR at 19. Agree, I am hoping that this turns out like 2014 when Mack dropped right to us.The first round picks should fall right into the Raiders lap.
