Red Eye

Pour 1 ounce of vodka into the frosted mug.

Add 6 ounces of refrigerated tomato juice into the mug.

Open one can of beer (12 ounces) and pour it into the mug and leave upside down to let the beer pour into the juice.

Crack egg. Drop contents into the mug. Do not stir.

I like to drink mojitos.  I also like to say mojitos.

It says I'm misspelling mojito and is suggesting I correct it with mosquito.  I do not like mosquitoes.

If you asked me to make this for you I would reach across the bar and rip off your handlebar mustache.

Having a pretty big bash on the 4th so I figured with our new love of Russia, the Party Drink would be the Moscow Mule. Instead of using Ginger Beer I am using a Ginger Syrup and Club Soda. So I made this Ginger Syrup last night. BIG

  • Agave mix: 12oz (36cl) light agave nectar + 12oz (36cl) filtered water
  • 1/2 lb (250g) fresh ginger, peeled and chopped
  • 1 tablespoon coarsely ground black peppercorns
    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
  • Combine agave mix and ginger in a blender and puree
  • Lightly toast the peppercorns in a saucepan
  • Add blended ginger mix to saucepan and bring to a light boil
  • Remove from heat, cover, let stand for 30 minutes
  • Pour through a fine mesh (such as a nut bag) and transfer to a clean bottle
  • Syrup will keep for about a month in the refrigerator

These became my go-to drink in Mexico upon a bartender's recommendation.

You can also use the water from a can of garbanzo beans in lieu of an egg white if you're squeamish about the egg.

Yeah I was getting tired of wine & margaritas, glad I asked that bartender. It was weird though, every bartender at the resort made it differently.
That is probably bad on the resort for not having a standardized version, but its a very popular drink and like a margarita, lots of people have their own little variations. I like 50/50 tequila/mez. Some are all mez or no mez. Some use fresh grapefruit juice, some will use squirt or similar soda, etc. I am not sure I have ever had 2  restaurant/bar palomas exactly the same.

Capra

1.5 oz bourbon

1 tbsp strawberry fennel simply syrup

1/2 tbsp Averno Amaro Siciliano

Pour over ice into a rocks glass and stir

Really great drink, that and Boulevardier have become my regular go to drinks when I am at the right kind of establishment.
