WR Christian Kirk, JAX (1 Viewer)

think he's a worthwhile keeper for next season? he does look good and id consider this season a "down" season for his QB....
He’s been steady, and I think he’s earned it. That being said nobody seems to respect him so you can probably get him much later than you should.

I have him in several 2-3 man keeper/redraft leagues

-He's one of the better slot-WRs in the NFL and you notice Evan Engram ends up having perhaps his best game of the season after Kirk leaves on the 1st play of the game, he suddenly was the guy filling up the middle of the field.

-As long as Pederson is the HC and the Jags don't draft a WR in the 1st Rd or go and sign/trade for a bigger name, Kirk is paid around $15M per year which isn't elite level money but it's not chump change either. He has a specific role in this offense. He was on pace for about 80/1,000+ yds and his usual 5-6 TDs, he's not flashy but he's typically a solid WR2/3 most weeks depending on who your alpha-WR1 is.

it's a keep 3, ppr... tds for QBs are worth 6pts..... so im gonna likely adopt dropping all my RBs (decent ones) and go with a combo of nico collins and lamb as my locks.... then my 3rd spot is between kirk, burrow, saquon and henry. torn as of now, but we'll see

Who are yall picking up to replace? My WW is picked through, will Zay Jones step right in?
I laid off all Jax receivers. They play Balt, Clev and Carolina 3 out of the next 4. All top 4 pass D's. Only good matchup is TB. And even when Trevor comes back he'll be a fraction of what he was. Ankle heavily taped, less mobility and time to create plays, etc. Just don't think it's a good situation at all.

Jaguars placed Christian Kirk (core) on injured reserve.

Kirk will miss at least four weeks while on IR. He injured his core during Monday night’s loss to the Bengals and could require surgery, according to head coach Doug Pederson. Fantasy managers should expect to be without Kirk for the remainder of the 2023 season. Parker Washington will operate as the team’s primary slot wideout in Kirk’s absence. Washington caught six passes for 61 yards and a touchdown in Week 13 against the Bengals.

Pre season FBG rank of 31 is robbery. I'll take that all day.
I'm on the other side of that. He's not in my top-40. I think the additions of Brian Thomas and Gabe Davis are showing an increased want to attack downfield, and I think Engram has pulled close to even with Kirk as the option in the middle of the field. I don't think he has the ceiling he had in 2022.

Averaged 7.8 and 7.6 tpg the last 2 years. Even if that comes down a bit with Gabe and Thomas in town (Zay Jones and Ridley both left).

Would it surprise me if he gets 7 targets a game? Not really. Ridley had 136 and Zay Jones had 64 last year but also missed 6 games I believe.

Not sure where he is going in redraft right now but could end up being a value. Could even be cheaper when everyone goes nuts on rookie camp hype with BTJ.

Engram I agree, but not at all concerned with Thomas (rookie who many think will struggle) and Davis (not much needs to be said here).

Trevor LOVES Kirk and despite seemingly trying to replace him, it just hasn't happened.
Both Zay and Ridley are gone and I would argue those two are superior talents to Thomas and Davis.

I think BT and Gabe will both help him, and Engram.

They've been trying to attack downfield but they had Ridley miscast in that role. In time I expect Brian Thomas to be more but I think he'll start in that role and he may not be as good as an overall WR as Ridley is now but I think he'll be better in the role they tried to have Ridley fill. Same for Gabe over Zay. I think they got WR's to do more of what they want to do, but I believe Trevor led the league last year in targets to his first read and most of the time that was Kirk or Engram and I think that will still be where the ball is designed to go most of the time.

But I still think his overall ranking is about on par and looking at ADP of last week in the format I mainly play I see Kirk is WR30, but out of the next 8 WR's drafted I'd probably take 5-6 of them over Kirk. So he's probably in the mid 30's range to me, like the upside of some others, but if you want a steady weekly PPR producer I think Kirk is a solid choice in that range.
