When you hear that so and so is going to be the goal line back instead of another player (Say T. Jones over Charles), at what point does that said Goaline back come into the game to take the carries?

Goal line carry is basically the same thing as a short yardage carry, except that carry is for a TD, not a first down. I would say the 2 yard line or closer, but I could see maybe the 3, too. Anything further than that, nope, although if a team is in a two TE formation from like the 4 or 5 with no WRs, I could see that being considered a goal line carry...maybe.

I figured it was anything inside the 5. Where a decent carry gets a TD, and you don't typically need to do anything special to nose in there.
