Finished up American Nightmare. Crazy story that I don't remember at all.
The only question I have is when they showed the video footage of her returning to her parents home, she was carrying two big dufflebags. What was in those?
The way she walked up to the house almost seemed like she did make it up. Very odd. Like she just came back from ice cream.
The cops did a terrible job, obviously; and crazy none were disciplined. The story the couple told did seem pretty far fetched at first though. I wish they would have found accomplices or figured out why the ex fiancée was the target

Their story is nuts... I can't blame the police for looking into it more. I can blame them for ignoring everything else.

The original 20/20 version of this didn't include the info about the perp being a peeper and all around creep in their neighborhood. Iirc, Also left out the other previous victims (I could be wrong). The more this version covered, the more clear how much the Vallejo police dropped the ball.

But I remember when this happened live, and it was sooooo easy to ride the narrative the media was feeding us. So easy to jump to hating Denise for doing it. Really eye opening for me seeing just how manipulated I was... And even though I'm typically wary of judgement on news stuff for exactly this reason, I wasn't at all here.

Wifey and I currently bingeing Bosch - midway through Season 3. I'd rate it 6-7 out of 10 thus far. Entertaining enough to keep us coming back after the kids go down the last week or so, but not great.

Bosch doesn't cut any new ground but it's just really, really good at what it is - a season long police detective show. I love it - very entertaining.
Was great for a while. But eventually "Mads" ruined it for me.

I just tried Season 1 of Succession (first 4 episodes) but found it surprisingly bad. Everyone is unlikable and the company business is too ridiculous to take seriously. The F word comes up often when the writers seem short of a decent script. If it's supposed to be funny, I haven't laughed much at all.
Basically it's a bunch of obnoxious people arguing with each other. Maybe my expectations were too high after all of the praise and rewards that it received.
The lack of a likable character was tough for me too. I finished it because the acting and writing were good, but I have no desire to rewatch or recommend
I finished as well and immediately realized how much time I wasted on it.

I'm floored by the assertion that Cann, Connery, and Reynolds "look like regular guys". Did you grow up in West Hollywood IK?
No. I grew up in a working-class community, and this is what guys who work look like. Obviously those gentlemen are much more handsome than the average guy, but look at their body type. That's normal. It's not the product of spending all day at the gym and taking hormones, and obviously it's also not the product of answering emails all day.

Likewise with Sally Field. She has a lot going for her of course, but her body is that of a normal woman. Naturalism is good.

I thought the first episode was good but overall I give it a “meh”. Crazy story though

I know "Suits" isn't exactly realistic, but how anyone can hate on a show that regularly features Meghan Markle in a pencil skirt is beyond me...
Love the show but Donna >>>>>>>> Rachel
Not sure i would go that many >> but I would likely be on the Donna side of things.
You guys are crazy. Rachel >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Donna

At least we know that we'd never fight over women...
Dr. Paula Agard >>> Donna >>> Katrina >>> Rachel. Shame that Paula wasn't on for very long
I was a Dana Scott fan.

ooh I forgot about Scotty. I'd put her between Donna and Katrina

I think the takeaway here is that pretty much every girl on this show is hot.

(Wouldn't kick Jessica out of bed for eating crackers, either.)

There's a joke there, but a banning would probably be the result.

I couldn't get past a few episodes.

I get that the writing and acting is solid. It's about people I see too much in my day to day work life (these people are my clients)- a life I leave happily in the office. I want nothing to do with taking that behavior home and seeing on TV.

I'm sure I missed out on high quality TV... I'm ok with that.
Outside of cousin Greg and Brian Cox (as always) the show was meh at best.

I like Alan Ruck's character. I have a theory that the writers secretly based him on what Cameron Frye might have grown up to be.

He was raised by a cold, aloof father who valued material possessions over his own children. He has led an empty adult life just drifting along, no meaning whatsoever. That's why he runs for president, to finally fill the void in his soul.

Mr. Froman? Sgt. Peterson, Chicago police.

6 episodes into The Bear. Does it get better? :oldunsure:
Afraid to start this because it just doesn't look good.

It’s really good but I can see why some people wouldn’t like it. I forget, did you like succession? Because it’s another show with loud, unlikeable assholes…in a restaurant
Except they're assholes who mean well... And ultimately are trying to do the right thing, even if their being assholes gets in the way.

I don't like shows about people behavimg badly... And I love this show.

Eta... I was just posting here about my dislike for Succession. But again... Love this show.

I know it’s entertainment and no one’s right and all. But not enjoying “The Bear” and “Succession” is crazy talk and you are wrong!
I don’t dislike it. I went in with high expectations after reading about it here and I’m not understanding that at all. It’s ok 🤷🏻‍♂️

I think I finished S1 of the Bear but it was as struggle. Had to force myself to watch the last few episodes. I say "think" because I don't really recall how it ended. I kept watching mostly because I appreciated the performance of Jeremy Allen. Hated the Ritchie character. Tying in to Succession I stopped watching that after about 5 episodes. In related news I also hated Uncut Gems. One of the few movies I turned off partway through. I think there's a common element to these shows and I just don't enjoy it.

I've always felt that way about Mad Men. I've tried twice and can't get past 3 or 4 episodes. Seeing Jon Hamm in Fargo makes me want to try again though.

Sounds like abrasive characters and chaotic scenes are not your thing. Which is fine. Art is subjective.

I think The Bear is an incredible show but watching it makes me anxious and I don’t enjoy the experience. I didn’t finish season 1. Maybe I’ll get back to it at some point, but you can’t watch everything. I know I’m missing out on a great show but it is what it is. Succession is an all-timer for me though, totally different vibe for me.

We Are the World doc on Netflix was fun. I'm a suckered for a behind the scenes production/music doc anyway.
This was good.
I'm astounded that it got made at all, let alone in one night.
Just watched it. I too am a sucker for these type of docs. Crazy from an operational standpoint they were able to get all these stars together. Crazy. The egos involved in a collaboration like this was remarkable. Bob Dylan being so uncomfortable was interesting. Wasnt his thing yet he stuck it out. Waylon was like, actual African lyrics? I'm out. Ha ha. Prince doing Prince things made me laugh. Reminded me of Chappelle skit poking fun at him. That drunk guy, don't remember his name, trying to sing was cringey. Ha ha. Great watch though for a great cause.

I was pretty sure I knew who Paula was but looked it up just to confirm. Yep, you’re nuts.
