football writer Rick Gosselin correctly predicted 14 of the 32 picks in the first round. He topped ESPN analysts Todd McShay (8) and Mel Kiper (9) and SI.com's Peter King (7).

This is nothing new. But what this honor really means more than predictive ability is who has the best relationship among NFL insiders on draft day. That guy is Gosselin. His mocks come out last and very close to the draft compared to the guys he beat. I don't think the winning the mock contest is as impressive as his contacts that feed him quality answers.

That's impressive relationship building as a reporter.
