***Official*** Post your 2015 Rookie Draft (1 Viewer)

This draft is now finished

Just about done here. 12 team PPR, flexible lineups.http://football16.myfantasyleague.com/2015/options?L=44891&O=17

Lots of comments next to the picks for those who like that.

My haul, with comments for the trades made while the pick was on the clock:

1.03 Melvin Gordon RB

1.07 Dorial Green-Beckham WR

2.08 Phillip Dorsett WR (tried scrambling to move up since 1.11, finally got a bite as he kept falling...for Joique Bell of all things)

3.10 Clive Walford TE (traded Greg Jennings and future 3rd, no brainer)

4.02 DeAndre Smelter WR

4.07 Jesse James TE (traded Rashad Jennings for the pick, strong at RB and have a good feeling about James in PIT

4.12 Darren Waller WR (traded Andre Holmes for the pick)
Tell Woodbridge to stop being such a braggart. It's annoying when people talk about how great their picks are compared to the guys in front of them.

EVERYONE likes their picks. That's why they are THEIR picks.

Also, inform him that Kevin White was drafted by Chicago, not New York. You'd think a know-it-all would know that.
Reading the comments and what guys think of their picks vs. the guys that went before their guys is part of the fun in any league.

You read that wrong, he said that White was drafted by NY, as in the NY Warriors, the team that drafted him in this league.

I just hate the guy that drafts the number 4 QB, #7 RB, and #10WR, then proclaims, "They were all #1 on my board!!!"

No one cares. If I'd wanted the guy you picked after me, I would have picked him.

That's kind of an exaggeration, nobody does that. I'd hate that as well.

It's interesting when the comments offer insight into your leaguemates minds. It's your league, guys are trading up and down and jostling into position for rookies...what they think about who was drafted should be interesting to you, you do spend a lot of time chatting football and trades and prospects with these 10/12/14/16 guys, right?

1.08 - Abdullah my pick, I wanted Agholor and tried to trade up, but couldn't.

And no offense to those guys that are taking a chance on the big guy DGB early, but I just can't pull the trigger on him unless he slides past 1.14 or so. I understand the "what if he hits" mentality and I'm not one to normally play it safe, but that dude just scares me. Off the field issues aside, he can't be close to NFL ready with the amount of games he played.

After picking Patterson with the 1.8 two years ago, I am gun shy with guys that may see the field while still needing that much teaching.

I honestly wish you the best. I hope you never experience what I (and the rest of the Patterson rookie drafters) went through.

Agreed completely on DGB and I say that the reason I speculated on him (just overpaid to trade up to take him at 1.12 in my league) is that you're comparing him to guys like Dorsett and Strong after the top guys go. To me, long term you win taking guys like DGB even though an expectation that he hits is ridiculous, compared to going for slot guys. I may be wrong, but thats how I think you have to build a roster.

Private one that just kicked off

1.11 Jay Ajayi

1.12 Nelson Agholor

I agree sometimes group think does affect some market value, but a bad pick is a bad pick. Mariotta at 6 is just a bad pick philosophically in a 12 team start 1 QB league.
I always say that the only "bad" pick is a player that would have most likely still been available when your next pick comes around. In this case, yes, most likely Mariota would have been available later. That's just like throwing a pick away if you could have Mariota AND a first-round RB or WR.

Taking someone 4 or 5 spots early, there's nothing wrong with that because if that's "your guy" and you know he'll be gone before the next round, go for it. Like taking D. Parker before Cooper or White...nothing wrong with mixing it up like that.

Dorian Green-Beckham is going to shoot up rookie draft boards with any camp reports that come out. By August I expect DGB to be a top 7 rookie pick in EVERY rookie draft. The off the field questions will fade some with every OMG report that comes out on DGB.

With DGB it's more than just off the field issues. He not only under performed when on the field, he had trouble beating press coverage and doesn't run the best routes.

Bloom commented last year that Jordan Matthews could not run the full route tree... Look what he did as a rookie...

That route tree stuff is over-rated...

I look at an athletic freak like DGB and I don't think about "route tree" concerns.... I think about trying not to urinate on myself with excitement!

He actually isn't an athletic freak. He is a middle of the road athlete for an NFL WR

I agree that DGB's freakish athleticism is overstated but I also don't like how mockdraftable scores athleticism. There should be a size/weight multiplier

40 time is just one facet of athleticism. When you include other categories he is average.

I think some similar things were thrown out there referencing Mike Evans last year. When you are big and fast some of those other categories you speak of become less important.

Why is Matt Jones falling to mid-late 3rd but Langford/Cobb going in the 2nd. Even if you don't like the talent he could blow past Morris by the end of the season. Love the value where he's going.
