Josh Allen is another one. Ugh.
Some of these are HOLY CRAP....the 3 that jump out at me straight away and will nerf their value in my league:
LAC: Joey Bosa from DE to LB
LVR: Maxx Crosby from DE to LB
MIN: Danielle Hunter from DE to LB
Yes absolutely!Reddick from DE to LB is a crushing blow to his value in most leagues.
Not happening this offseason. Davenport pushed hard for it, but MFL didn't allow it.Least year I heard MFL was going to an “edge” position to eliminate theses kind of issues. Any information on that?
Most advocate for DI, Edge, LB.How would that work for lineups ? Right now I am in a 2-2-2 format with 2 flex.
Edge would replace DE ? Is that how it would work ?
So instead of MFL listing DE it will list Edge ?
Since I combine DE+DT for DL would Edge just be a DL ? So it would become DE+DT+Edge = DL ?
Or would edge force the rid of DE position ?
How would they determine if a player was a LB or Edge rusher ? Would you just assume it based on what ?
Going to kill his value in tackle heavy leagues. Very disappointing.Wonnum is interesting, did they hire a 3-4 guy?
K.Neal LB to S wasn't listed initially but seems to have been added since, although this one was hardly a surprise.
They usually have another update near the end of August. One way to combat that is to state that positions lock in for your league at the time of the draft. That way everyone knows going in what the positions are and someone doesn't get screwed by some late change. We do that and it works very well. Will there be another round of position changes before the season starts?
We have our draft going on now, and player values could change drastically based on position. Robert Quinn for instance would be a great DL as he’s currently listed, but not worth a roster spot if moved back to LB.
Seems like it depends on roster sizes and scoring system for sacks. If he hits the wire in any of my leagues, I'm bidding high in hopes he gets switched back. Until then, I guess he could be my LB5 or a desperation play when I expect to lose but hope for a huge game. That's how I'm treating Hunter and Josh Allen where I have them.Do I cut joey bosa or do I hold onto him.
This is why I never invest in d-lineman, I traded for him last year and now he is my lber #7
As Tick said, this is dependent upon scoring system primarily and the hope that he gets changed back. If you don't have to cut him I wouldn't. If you do I would want to know who the decision is between.Do I cut joey bosa or do I hold onto him.

Keep him and convince your commish to adpot true position.Do I cut joey bosa or do I hold onto him.

It doesn't have to kill the value of these guys. Change the scoring to big play scoring and these guys jump up the rankings and become relevant. The problem isn't solely based on position designations. If you don't reward these big plays sufficiently, they lose value regardless of the designation.Yesterday our Commish submitted a ticket to MFL asking if they planned to add the Edge designation in 2023. Unfortunately, MFL replied that they have no plans to make the change. It's so frustrating and disappointing to know MFL will continue using antiquated position designations that kill the value of so many Edge rushers. Last year, I pushed for our league to use Sticky Positions as a work around, but there wasn't any support. Now in dynasty, I have to again decide whether or not to hold Danielle Hunter, who I rostered all year in hopes that MFL would add the Edge designation or that he'd be reclassified as a DL. Last year, he never started for me at LB, but he's too valuable as an Edge to drop.
I understand the frustration and disappointment. To be fair, though, MFL is still antiquated software so continuing on with antiquated designations should be the expected path.Yesterday our Commish submitted a ticket to MFL asking if they planned to add the Edge designation in 2023. Or you just gained a bunch of great DEWow, I just lost a bunch of my best LBs. Back to the drawing board!
I get it. Typically there were more LB's that were startable than DE. Therefore this seems like it should help balance things. However, this can also be scoring specific. In the leagues I am in we are big play scoring so OLB's were highly valuable already. This doesn't change that so much as redistribute those assets as you described. It's a matter of strategy. Hopefully, this will be the last time that a change of this magnitude comes along, but we do make choices and plans to aim for the highest scoring at each position.
Saying it another way, how have you chosen to acquire talent at each position? The number of players with a DE designation just increased significantly. If you were very thin at DE before, this probably balanced out your team nicely. On the other hand, if you had a lot of talent in the pre-2023 DE pool. that relative advantage just got seriously diluted. AND, many of your LBs were outside 3-4 guys, you are now very unmanned at that position.
Imagine that the rules changed and all slot WRs were now considered TEs. Sure if you have some slot WRs, you just got a nice boost at TE, since slot WRs tend to score more than most TEs. But what if you had the best two TEs in the league, and that was a main factor in your success? The rest of the league just caught up to you. And looking further, when you chose to acquire those TEs in the past, you did so by drafting/trading for those players, at the expense of other positions. Your entire strategy, which in dynasty leagues may have taken you years to put into place, was just trashed.
This disruption seems overboard. I bet their is moves back for quite a few of these players as preseason and draft progressesI'd rather be disrupted once and be done with it than dealing with it every time a defensive coordinator goes to a new team.
