Let's talk about Nashville, Tennessee (2 Viewers)

A rich guy like you would end up living down toward Franklin, DD.
My ex-girlfriend is from Franklin. Tons of friends in Belle Meade. I loved Nashville when I visited, but I guess YMMV. I was taken out and dined at the top of the Nashville City Club. Nice area, nice place, good stuff, great city.

Lots of great music and I think for me that would be the big attraction. And there's some good BBQ. Educated populace. Lots of sports (though I personally don't like the teams). Short shot to Knoxville for Vols games. The Smokies are not far away. I have family friends there plus some other business, and it's probably on the 'would move to' list.

Wife and I are visiting from Florida, and it's pretty fun. It's definitely better to take a Lyft downtown rather than try to drive yourself. It's also super cold right now.

I highly recommend the music city hop on hop off bus tour. It's 12 stops or so. Fun time and you see all the major points of interest.

Also, we did the dinner cruise on the General Jackson showboat and had a good time. We're not really country music fans but it was entertaining.

What's the closest casino to Nashville?

How are the strip clubs in Nashville?

Good rubntugs?
Closest casino...Metropolis Illinois is about 2 hours.  Or just a bit further to to the place across th river from Louisville into Indiana.  2 and a half hours or so.

Last Times I was at those neither had free drinks or at least metropolis didn’t.  But it’s been a while.

Tunica MS is just over 4 hours away.

The Stillery for hot chicken with Mac & cheese.  Now two locations - downtown on 2nd and midtown near Vandy and Hattie B’s.  Rest of the menu is money.  You can thank me later.

  IMO it's greasy, poorly cooked chicken hidden under breading and a fairly standard buffalo style sauce. The underlying flesh of Gus' is far far superior with regards to moisture, flavor, and texture. I love buffalo anything flavor wise.. and it's tasty... but it's just not the same product. There's a reason Hattie B's serves the chicken on a bed of white bread... to soak up the puddle of grease under the meat.

Gus's achieves a phenomenally moist/tender internal flesh (thanks to the buttermilk bath), with a very light crust (no hiding under soggy breading) and a nice foundation of heat and flavor. All without being even remotely greasy.

Again, this is personal preference. Nashville style may be some folks' jam. I just think Gus's is a superior overall product.

My daughter worked at a place in East Nash called Tenn16, they won an award for their hot chicken. #### was like eating lava.

It's too bad they closed Opryland years ago.  20 years ago this weekend. Worst decision the city ever made.  ####ty mall there now that has mostly junk. I have a lot of fond memories at Opryland.

My favorite is when someone will say something like "Atlanta sucks; bad food, rude people, no culture at all". Then you find out they were here for a conference for two days in 2002, never left a two-block radius of the Hilton downtown, wandered into a sports bar and ate a dry burger and the server wasn't very talkative. Thanks for the review, Anthony Bourdain.
I was in Atlanta for NCAA tournament in 1998.  Met Speech from Arrested Development on an big-### escalator in a hotel.  Encounter was not that exciting.  In short, Atlanta sucks.

They have this chicken called Nashville Hot Chicken, OMG it's phenomenal. Try Prince's, or if you really want to treat yourself, Hattie B's. Make sure you ask for the buffalo sauce with double breading.
Prince's super hot or whatever they call it was the hottest most painful things I have ever eaten.

Don't get that one, go for the middle or lower hot level

The mild is plenty hot enough for me. My buddy's sister is a reporter on TV in Nashville and has her picture up on the wall with the "cake lady."

Yup. We ordered and took our number. There was this giant dude, who looked like he knew his way around a fired chicken, sitting near us eating and just sweating buckets. We asked him what he was having, he said the mild.

We knew we were in big, big trouble.

I grew up in the area, so I've never known any different, but the people in this part of the country are cool, simple folks.  It's a great place to raise a family or just make friends.  There's a lot more transplants than there used to be, though. It's funny how Nashville has went from the city known for all the rednecks to a hip place to live.  The city has always been great but they've done a fantastic job at changing and promoting it.  Outside of a couple areas, it's very affordable as well.

I went for the “shut the cluck up” at Hattie B’s once. It was legit hot, but edible for sure.

They have a niiiiiiice IMAX though.

Id say I was gonna hit the bar down the street for lunch today and get their “better than Hattie B’s” buffalo chicken tender platter, but there is a Gus’s another half mile down the road.

a city that conflates eccentricities with character. it's full of privledge, sanctimony and related hazards of the nouveau riche. more like Charlotte than Atlanta in that it's dominated by one industry and doesn't truly attract world class anything. fun for a long weekend but not much else.

- former resident with family still residing there
This is spot on...

if I were moving to TN I would have Chattanooga at the top of my list. Of course it would be harder to get a job tho...

The one by the donut shop kicks ###. Not sure if that's the only one.

Im visiting here now.  Went to Catbird Seat for dinner last night.  Highly recommend, but you need to make a reservation pretty far out.  Going to Mockingbird for dinner tonight, and  Southern Steak and Oyster tomorrow for brunch.  Basically just a weekend of eating and drinking!

More Memphis talk...well outside of Memphis...but since we didn’t do our normal thanksgiving in Cillierville but at our house instead...I missed my usual treat of Germantown Commissary BBQ.

Also...saying Nashville is dominated by one industry would be quite false.
