I've Heard of other PEDs for football... (1 Viewer)

Lasts up to 4 hours, and NFL games last 3 hours.

Jeff Garcia...Jeff Garcia...to the white courtesy phone.

I know it is a funny topic, and no one has made a stab at the Lambeau Leap (what is up with that commercial where the guy in the airplane says "I wish Greg Jennings was sitting in my lap").

However, PDE5 inhibitors, including the prototypical Viagra®, have been used as a PED in sports and bodybuilding for years. In addition to a purported increase in oxygen delivery to the working muscle (insert joke here) due to vasodilation in the periphery and pulmonary (lung) vasculature; PDE5 inhibitors have been documented to cause a significant increase in testosterone. This may provide an ergogenic effect, or serve to mask some degree of exogenous testosterone administration (e.g. topical) by maintaining the T:E ratio within the guidelines used by the USADA (anti-doping agency). I am pretty sure the NFL uses their standard of 4:1.

Further, just like a significant proportion of young men, it is used as a sexual enhancer if the setting is correct. Viagra does not create a spontaneous erection, but requires stimulation (again, insert your own joke). Interestingly, spontaneous erections were a side effect of the yet to be released drug Melanotan II (referred to in the press as the Barbie Doll Drug - makes one tan, skinny, and increases arousal/erectile function). Also used as a party drug.

Actions are not specific to Viagra, seen in other PDE5 inhibitors.

This will change the game.....new rules will have to be enforcedIntentional Grinding comes to mind.
There are many that will have to watched more carefully - Illegal Use of Hands, Neautral Zone Infactions, Holding, and quite a few Unsportsmanlike Conducts...

if that is truly the case then it is no small coincidence that this guy left the game in 1997.

Good God. My wife already can't resist pointing out every time they mention that the quarterback's protection broke down. Too much penetration leading to the 3 and out. And then it never fails that the receiving team would muff the punt.

Better than punting the muff I imagine. And, yeah, she's right: good, hard penetration can stifle a drive just like that.

Oy, I can hear Ed Hochuli's explanation already.

"The receiver controlled the football, and while he didn't get two feet down, the rules also allow for 'any one other body part'..."
