Freeney will play, but Mathis a game-time decision

Posted: December 17th, 2009 | NFL.com Staff | Tags: Dwight Freeney, Indianapolis Colts, Robert Mathis, Week 15 injuries

Colts DE Dwight Freeney will play against the Jaguars on Thursday night despite missing practice the last two days, NFL Network insider Michael Lombardi reports. The Colts’ other defensive end, Robert Mathis, will be a game-time decision.

Freeney, one of 29 Colts on yesterday’s injury report, was officially listed as questionable with an abdomen injury that has bothered him for several weeks. He has missed one game this season, the Week 12 victory over the Texans.

Mathis also was held out of practice the last two days with a quad injury. He was listed as questionable.

The Colts already had ruled out CB Jerraud Powers (hamstring) and RB Donald Brown (chest).

Confirmed by ESPN - Freeney & Mathis both active for the Colts.

This could be a nightmare for Sims-Walker owners (and Garrard for those considering starting him).

Yep... Planned to start Garrard if both Freeney & R Mathis were out...now, no way. Thanks for the heads-up

:lmao:Why? It seems that a pass rush would lead to quick slants, and those are some of the "bread n butter" play for MSW.
The Jags struggle in pass protection. Freeney & Mathis being active should result in Indy putting pressure on Garrard. More pressure on Garrard probably leads to fewer clean looks for MSW (or anyone in the passing game).
