I read Ball Four when I maybe 14 as well and still use some of its profane or goofy words or phrases without thinking.  Mainly ####-#### (that's clear as day) and "There's the old rufus goofus" (when greeting one of my dogs).  If it's multiple dogs, I use the plural Rufus Goofi.

I read it when I was 12. And a few times in the years right afterwards. And again at the start of the pandemic.

I use all the time.... "just have to climb those golden stairs". (for when you have to ask for something.. In his case, a raise)

Still have my 1968 Mantle and Bouton Topps cards.
