QBs are way, wayyy too high in your overall.

Also, Nix over McCarthy? That will be dead in the water by draft time. JJ has a better bet of being QB2 than QB5.

Edit- sorry to come off as critical. A lot of good here that I should have mentioned. Nice work.

I went back and forth on Nix and McCarthy. On tape, Nix looks like the superior prospect, but I like McCarthy's upside.

First of all, I edited my previous post to be more complimentary and not sure if you saw it. Sorry about that. Easy to be critical but I agreed with most of what you had to say.

If it’s your personal opinion Nix is QB4 and still a 1st round QB, that’s cool. His senior bowl performance really threw a bucket of cold water on it though. I’d be shocked if he’s drafted in the 1st. Meanwhile, I’m still sorting my opinion of JJ and Penix, but both seem clearly ahead of Nix in terms of draft stock. Would be shocked if both don’t go ahead of him.

Nice work though! Sorry for starting with the negative.

No worries. Criticism is good. I do not typically rank QBs so high, but I feel like it is a strength of this class, and the lack of a strong RB class further pushes the QBs up. You may be right, however, about having them too high. Obviously, individual team needs will dictate where the QBs ultimately go, but I think the top 3 belong in Round 1 for now.

Nix had a disappointing Senior Bowl. There is no way around that. On the flip side, I thought Spencer Rattler really helped his draft stock in Mobile. I am certainly not discounting the poor Senior Bowl performance. Nix needs a good showing at his Pro Day/Combine, but the same is true for most prospects.

Not much change so far in rankings comparing various sites except at RB. Your top 7 almost seem interchangeable . Will the combine create some changes or do we just have to wait for the draft ?

I'm with you on that the QBs outside of Caleb are too high IMO for single QB. But overall this is good work. Putting together a deep list/rankings is tough at this point without teh combine, and draft.

Well done to the OP. Always like to see and hear peoples thoughts.

I'll say this to everyone, don't get set on a player (good or bad) and have take-lock. Be ready to pivot and take things with a grain of salt.

Hype on some guys doesn't mean others now suck. Many good players will drop as others get hyped - doesn't mean they aren't good. Values will be found in the 2nd round this year.

I would change RB up a bit, without regards to tiers.

I agree that the NFL is desperate for QBs, especially after last year with so many injuries and others playing poorly. I think the NFL will be drafting a lot of QBs this year, hoping to hit on the next one.

But for 1 QB dynasty leagues, it's tough to draft and hold rookie QBs outside the top 3-4 maybe and even then they likely fall back to the 2nd or 3rd outside of Caleb and maybe Daniels for rushing upside. Again this could change if the hype takes off and some of the QBs go top 10 and fall to a good spot.

There's going to be some fun players in the 3rd round of rookie drafts this year. Maybe even 4th.
I need to get some more 2nd and 3rd round picks - more dart throws with the talent that looks to be there. Looking at this list, at least for now, looks like the depth is there.

At best move him up 3 spots, but not me for now. I suppose I just have this Rex Burkhead vision for him and it is probably unjustified and some will consider it a lazy comparison. There are too many other players I would rather throw at dart at later in a rookie draft. I may end up regretting that.

Took over a poor team last year and had a fire sale. Started out 0-10, but strangely after trades I started winning. On top of the #5 pick (16 team), I also have four 2nds and five 3rds. Big need at RB and WR should provide me with plenty of choices.

👍🏽 I recently traded down from pick 18 to 36, 47 and will Levis. That 18 could be really nice, but I’ll take the 3 day throws in IDP

My early rankings are in some senses almost placeholders. I like to get some rankings on paper before the Combine/On-Campus Workouts/Draft, but there will undoubtedly be lots of movement prior to Fantasy Drafts. I have the three top QBs lumped together for now, but while Caleb Williams may hold onto his high ranking, I suspect the other two (Maye and Daniels) will tumble a bit in single QB leagues. I feel like the top 4 (MHJ, Nabers, Odunze and Bowers) are fairly well cemented at their top 4 rankings. The next tier of receivers will be the ones jockeying positions, along with the unsettled RB class.

Brooks would have been my top RB but for the injury. I have no problem keeping him at the top spot for Dynasty. The more I think about it, the more I am leaning Corum above Braelon Allen, but I will wait for some workout numbers. I think this RB class will fluctuate a lot between now and Fantasy Drafts. Nice work, @JohnnyU

I agree with you. I had Shipley considerably higher before the 2023 season. He is a projected third-rounder by many, and if he lands in the right situation, he has the skill set to be a valuable PPR commodity.

Having the #5 pick, I just hope someone above me needs a QB or RB

One surprise in this group in Dillon Johnson. I haven't seen his name this high anywhere else. Also, Jaylen Wright seems to be rising in other places, but absent here.

Ray Garvin from Destination Devy likes Jaylen Wright. I probably should have replaced Shipley with him.

QBs are way, wayyy too high in your overall.
Depends on league format. 16 man leagues are beastly for QB demand. Not nearly SF level of course but there are zero starters on the wire, and any time someone is elevated due to injury or benching they are snapped up immediately if they weren't already rostered. My 16 man leagues average 64.666 QB's rostered per league - 67, 61, and 66. Luck was top 3, Trevor Lawrence #5, even last year's "weak" QB's had all three top guys go in the first round of all three league drafts.

I just want to find the source who like Puca Nacua last year, drafted him in rd 7 in one league and rd 10 in another. Won both leagues.

I'm thinking of Estime at 1.12, if he lands decent in NFL draft. Would LOVE to get him at 2.12, but wont risk it. I need a new RB.

Roman Wilson and Keilan Robinson

Tex

Wilson is on my radar cause he fits my Steelers need. IDK Robinson, but thanks.
Keilan Robinson played behind both Bijan Robinson and Jonathon Brooks at Texas after transferring from Alabama. However, he was a highly sought after recruit, and reportedly ran a 4.34 forty at a Penn State camp when he was in high school. He didn’t get many offensive touches in such a deep backfield, but he did return a kickoff 95 yards for a touchdown. Robinson didn’t touch the ball often in his short stint at Alabama either, but did score two rushing TDs, one from 46 yards out, and the other from 74 yards out. He carried only 12 times in 2023, but was a big play machine, with an evasion rate of 50% and a boom rate of 41.7%. He averaged 11.2 yards per attempt on those 12 carries. While he didn’t have a ton of opportunities to show off his athleticism on the field, he made the most of the few he got.

I'm disappointed the most with Bucky Irving's combine. Someone 5'9" 192 has to test better. Me having him in my top 5 has to be reevaluated and I don't usually put a lot of stock in the combine, but instead rather look at what they did in college.

I agree. However, I also saw Kyren Williams fall due to poor testing at the Combine. I am definitely moving Irving down, but perhaps this will allow him to be acquired at a nice discount in rookie drafts.

Saying just because Kyren Williams was successful, so Irving will be too, someone will have that mentality.

If the landing spot is good for Irving he will definitely stay on my radar, maybe just bumped down a bit. His combine won't determine or change what he does well. If he falls to a team/offense that can use his talents, with a QB that will look his way he can still be valuable. Maybe you can just get him cheaper now. He caught 56 passes last year which is pretty damn good in college.

I think landing spot will be key for a lot of these RBs.

Perhaps, in which case he may go too high for my liking. I am not completely out on Irving, but he will likely need to come at a discount because the odds of him hitting are not as good at 4.55 as he would have been at 4.49. For every Kyren Williams (how many are there really), there are a number of Lache Seastrunks.

Bucky Irving can no doubt be successful without long speed. He is elusive, but more quick than fast, he has excellent hands and instincts, and he wins with vision and contact balance. (I feel like we said all those same things about Kyren Williams.) A lack of speed may limit Irving's Special Teams appeal, and that could land him frequently on the Inactive list as a Rookie if he is a depth RB. I agree with @Big Nate that Draft Destination will be key, but that applies to most RBs.

The 2nd and 3rd rounds are looking good here. Now, there will be lots that don't work out but tons of guys I'm happy throwing darts at if I have 2nd and 3rd round picks.

I'm not sure 'made a big deal of' is the way I'd describe the discussion about his weight in that thread but if you do then fair enough.

I think it'd be wrong to simply assume that 216 is his playing weight considering he hasn't played for 6 months. Theoretically that figure could rise or fall by 5ish pounds come his return to the field. He might end up losing some excess fat from a period on the sideline or he might be accumulating more muscle and consequently get a bit heavier. Hard to know. His weight is within a range where it shouldn't be an issue for anyone drafting him. Between 210-220 ticks the box.

I agree with your last sentence.

He’s a missed tackle monster, better than Trey Benson and Blake Corum bomined he’s the only running back with 25 broken tackles and 25 FM tackles in 2022 and 2023. Are missed tackles and FM tackles the end all be all? No! But it’s something which adds to other factors for which we’ve yet to see so slow down JU don’t bail on him yet.

And his yards after contact is 3.83!

I think this is my biggest takeaway from the projections so far. There is elite WR talent at the top of the Draft, an elite TE, and some intriguing QBs, but this class's overall depth may be its best strength for now. The NFL Draft has a way of sorting some of that out, however. I remember being pretty excited about the depth at RB last season, and then watching the NFL Draft suck the life out of that depth with some very disappointing destinations.
