[Dynasty] 2019 NFL Draft Class (3 Viewers)

PFF 2019 NFL Preseason Week 2 Preview: Players to watch in all 16 games

Green Bay Packers @ Baltimore Ravens – 7:30PM ET

Packers

Rookie interior offensive lineman Elgton Jenkins was an absolute stud in pass protection in the Packers’ preseason opener. He earned an 87.5 pass-blocking grade across 26 pass-blocking snaps last week, allowing zero pressures in the process.

FRIDAY, AUGUST 16

Buffalo Bills @ Carolina Panthers – 7PM ET

Bills

Wyatt Teller was a road grader in his 2019 NFL preseason debut. The former Virginia Tech guard and 2018 fifth-rounder recorded multiple highly graded blocks on his way to a 71.9 overall grade last week. Bills rookie running back Devin Singletary had a handful of highlight-reel runs and showed off his forced missed tackle ability in limited action. He has an opportunity to carve out a significant role for himself if he keeps it up throughout the preseason.

Miami Dolphins @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers – 7:30PM ET

Dolphins

The Preston Williams coming-out party was a sight to see. The undrafted Colorado State product put on a show in his NFL preseason debut, catching 4-of-5 targets for 97 yards en route to a 93.0 receiving grade.

Broncos

Dre’Mont Jones has had a stellar start to his NFL career. The former Ohio State defensive interior has earned an 84.5 pass-rush grade across 38 pass-rush snaps through two preseason games, picking up five total pressures along the way.

Watching #Bengals rookie QB Ryan Finley (4th Round Pick) makes it evident why team moved Jeff Driskel to WR. 8-8 on TD drive. Kid is 100% ready to backup Dalton. No need for 3 QBs on roster. Finley will be starting and potentially successful at some point this season.

easily the best performance by a rookie QB in this preseason   👀

Chiefs were in complete control last night but I liked what I saw from Bengals rookie QB Ryan Finley (from NCST). Completed first nine passes. Showed really good anticipation and was getting the ball out on time.

Ryan Finley has huge preseason performance with Bengals

Less than a week after turning heads in his first NFL preseason game, former NC State quarterback Ryan Finley played even better in the Cincinnati Bengals 23-13 victory over the Washington Redskins Thursday night.

Finley, Cincinnati's fourth-round pick last spring, completed 20-of-26 passes for 150 yards and two touchdowns. Through his first two preseason games, the former State signal-caller is 33-of-44 (75 percent) for 259 yards, three scores and one interception.

...After last week's performance, Finley moved ahead of Jeff Driskel on the depth chart, and following another impressive outing, appears to be in the driver's seat to serve as veteran Andy Dalton's backup entering the season. Meanwhile, Driskel is reportedly working with the wide receivers and special teams after falling behind Finley.

How all 32 2019 first-round picks project heading into the NFL season

32. New England Patriots: N’Keal Harry - The WR from Arizona State will begin his rookie season on IR. He has fought ankle and hamstring injuries and now will miss at least the first eight weeks of the season.

31. Atlanta Falcons: Kaleb McGary - Kaleb McGary underwent a cardiac ablation procedure during training camp and missed significant time in the preseason. He did, however, play in the team’s final preseason game.

30. New York Giants: Deandre Baker - the CB from Georgia made a quick impression and head toward first-team status. Then, he sprained his knee on Aug. 11. The Dawg is confident he will be ready for Week 1 in Dallas. That will be a test with the Cowboys’ potent attack.

29. Seattle Seahawks: L.J. Collier - L.J. Collier has been battling a high ankle sprain. Don’t be surprised if Seattle doesn’t push him to play against Cincinnati. “This is not the injury or the guy, in my mind, to rush,” Pete Carroll said recently. “He just hasn’t been with us enough, to think he’s going to come in and save the day, I’m not doing that with him. We’ll get him well and make sure he’s well. But, if we can get him back to practice, that would be really important for us. We’ll see what happens. He did good stuff before, but he just hasn’t had enough body of work to go on right now.”

28. Los Angeles Charger: Jerry Tillery - Former Notre Damer Jerry Tillery had surgery to repair a torn labrum in March. “We saw flashes of it,” Chargers defensive coordinator Gus Bradley said. “You’re like, ‘Oh, OK! We just saw a flash of Jerry Tillery.’ He’s mentally [strong], but he just needs the physical part of it now — the lining up, the block-reaction and things like that.” Tillery did have a sack in his first game, which was against the Saints. “I felt great,” Tillery said. “No issues with my body. I think we’re a very conditioned team. That’s what I’ve been working on all offseason, all training camp. It felt good to get out there again.”

From a few weeks ago but just saw it and it wasn't shared.

Grading all 32 first-round picks after preseason Week 3

PICK NO. 1: QB KYLER MURRAY, ARIZONA CARDINALS

2019 preseason grade: 72.1

The first overall pick’s preseason will likely end with just one bad performance sandwiched between two good ones. The good was as we expected way back in March when we called him the top prospect in this draft: He earned single-game grades of 82.9 and 77.3 in Week 1 and Week 3, respectively, completing 20 of his 28 passing attempts for 181 yards, three big-time throws and an 87.1 passing grade over those two games. And while we didn’t get to see him used extensively as a runner (it’s only preseason, after all), he still managed to chalk up 18 yards after contact of five attempts, good for 3.60 yards a pop. Copy and paste what we said about Baker Mayfield at this point last year — the future looks bright at the team’s quarterback position.

PICK NO. 2: EDGE NICK BOSA, SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS

2019 preseason grade: N/A

Nick Bosa has been sidelined with an ankle injury this August, forcing him to miss all three of his team’s preseason games. Don’t worry though, ‘Niners faithful,  the chances are he’ll be just fine.

PICK NO. 3: DI QUINNEN WILLIAMS, NEW YORK JETS

2019 preseason grade: 79.7

The big man from ‘Bama entered the 2019 NFL Draft as the highest-graded interior defensive linemen that PFF College had ever seen, fresh off a season that saw him rack up 10 sacks, 16 hits and 29 hurries in his 15 games for the Crimson Tide. Now through three preseason games, it looks like it’s so far, so good for the Jets and Williams, who has now produced one hit and two hurries from his 42 pass-rushing snaps, winning five additional pass-rushing matchups in the process. Williams has now won 19.1% of his pass-rushing matchups, a mark that’s currently tied for fourth among 196 qualifying first-year players.

PICK NO. 4: EDGE CLELIN FERRELL, OAKLAND RAIDERS

2019 preseason grade: 52.8

The Oakland Raiders are coming off a historically bad year in terms of pass-rush, so it’s almost imperative that they get some form of early return from their No. 4 overall selection. So far, that’s not the case. In two games for the Raiders — he missed Week 3 — Ferrell managed single-game grades of 68.9 and 34.9, recording just two hurries from his 32 snaps as a pass-rusher.

PICK NO. 5: LB DEVIN WHITE, TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS

2019 preseason grade: 55.2

White has been on the field for 59 snaps so this preseason, with his biggest workload of the campaign coming in his 35-snap Week 3 bout. He’s been good against the run so far, earning a 71.3 run-defense grade off the back of a defensive stop an assisted tackle, but he’ll need to adjust to life in coverage. So far, he’s allowed a 100% catch rate and a 108.3 passer rating on his three targets as the primary coverage defender.

Scout's takes: Assessing Arizona's Kyler Murray, four other first-round rookies

10/3/19

Former NFL scout Matt Williamson writes about the league from an X's and O's perspective. In his weekly column, he focuses this week on five first-round rookies.

Kyler Murray, QB, Arizona Cardinals, 1st overall

Devin Bush, LB, Pittsburgh Steelers, 10th overall

Dwayne Haskins, QB, Washington Redskins, 15th overall

Darnell Savage, safety, Green Bay Packers, 21st overall

If the voting were to take place today, Savage would get my vote for Defensive Rookie of the Year...

Marquise Brown, WR, Baltimore Ravens, 25th overall
