Direct Headline: ‘Fulfilled Prophecies’: Babylon Bee Releases List Of All Its Satire That ‘Came True’
...Babylon Bee CEO Seth Dillon released a list of nearly 70 pieces of satire that he says have come true. “Jesters do oft prove prophets,” Dillon remarked, quoting from William Shakespeare’s King Lear....“I don’t think we’re all that good at predicting the future....I think we’re just bad at staying ahead of reality....The people working hardest to turn the world into a parody of itself should get most of the credit....They’re the reason our satire comes true.....”

What are some examples of The Babylon Bee’s fulfilled prophecies? In May 2017, the outlet published an article entitled ‘2 + 2 = 4,’ Insists Closed-Minded Bigot — a reference to “Nineteen Eighty-Four” by George Orwell, in which loyalty to the novel’s totalitarian regime is believing the lie that “2 + 2 = 5.” In December 2021, USA Today covered a debate among math educators regarding purported racial bias in mathematics...
As time goes on, many of The Babylon Bee’s predictions are fulfilled days after they are publicized. In an article called Surviving Inflation: 9 Easy Ways To Save Money On Your Thanksgiving This Year, the outlet suggested that Americans should replace turkey with a can of Spam to avoid inflation-related costs. A mere ten days later, an NBC segment likewise argued that families should find turkey alternatives due to rising price levels....
Most recently, The Babylon Bee published an article entitled Disinformation Governance Board Determines All Criticism Of Disinformation Governance Board To Be Disinformation. Less than three weeks later, President Biden’s Disinformation Governance Board was indeed overcome by disinformation....
....The Babylon Bee has also won some unlikely fans — including Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk. The multibillionaire even consulted with Dillon before buying a substantial stake in Twitter — from which The Babylon Bee had recently been suspended.....“Musk reached out to us before he polled his followers about Twitter’s commitment to free speech....He wanted to confirm that we had, in fact, been suspended. He even mused on that call that he might need to buy Twitter. Now he’s the largest shareholder and has a seat on the board.....”
.... Babylon Bee editor-in-chief Kyle Mann - “I think Democrats every morning just pull up The Babylon Bee, and that’s where they get their policy ideas.....”

“What's the point of having f--- you money if you never say f--- you?” — Bobby Axelrod
The controversy with the banning of The Babylon Bee's Twitter account before Elon Musk made a hard push to overpower and purchase Twitter itself might end up as one of the most unlikely, but most critical case examples of how seemingly small events change the trajectory of America's future when it comes to the First Amendment.
Political satire is protected free speech. This has been long established by SCOTUS regarding their interpretation and rulings on the issue. But the problem moves past just the nuts and bolts of free speech and pushes into the ugly unspoken issue of when the actual truth gets too uncomfortable and begins to sway the political narrative in the national daily media cycle that starts to cost you actual votes. Was the attempted "canceling" of Babylon Bee because they "violated" a Twitter guideline and rule, or was it because they were simply getting too close to the truth too often?
Consider CEO Seth Dillon points out that in order for The Babylon Bee to have it's Twitter account unlocked, he would need to agree formally, by admission on the system, that he acted in a manner using and promoting "hateful speech" This leads into the ugly question on when regulation becomes a form of partisan purity test. Which becomes dangerous to our society if Twitter is commonly accepted as the "town square" of public discourse.
The other "truth" issue with all this is that Elon Musk has proposed several times about making Twitter's algorithms into "open-source". Twitter's '"content moderation" relies on these programs and algorithms to track and flag certain "hateful" content. Under Twitter's old regime, these algorithms are proprietary and removed from public view. But with open sourcing, it's easy to see why the radical woke hard left and the establishment Democrats in power would be completely terrified - Now there's a pathway to explain why someone with liberal viewpoints is " lightly moderated" while someone else with a viewpoint less favorable to Team Blue might be "censored" instead.
This of course brings back the large scale debate about Big Social Media and Section 230 protections - When does one act and enforce as an editor and/or moderator, to the point where they are no longer a platform, but actually as a publisher with the new vast implied responsibility and large scale liability in tow?
By the attempt to silence/cancel The Babylon Bee, did the radical left and the current core of the establishment Democrats trigger a chain of events where Elon Musk, with his massive leverage and financial might, was pushed over the edge to purchase Twitter, and thus the domino effect will mean sweeping changes to Big Social Media for America's future?
Questions To Discuss:
Did Team Blue open up Pandora's Box to change their previous dominance of Big Social Media that will cost them countless future elections?
Do you believe the attempted silencing of Babylon Bee was the main trigger for Musk's push to buy Twitter?
Do you believe "The Streisand Effect" in in play here? Will every attempt by Team Blue to silence opposition, such as the Libs Of TikTok, create this kind of bounce back with nearly lethal election consequences?
Do you want all Big Social Media to have their "Trust And Safety/Enforcement" algorithms Open Sourced?
Should Big Social Media lose current Section 230 protections? Why or why not?
Is CEO Seth Dillon right? Is current Big Social Media enforcement simply a partisan purity test?
Do you believe political satire should remain as protected free speech? To what limits?
When does "content moderation" simply become targeted censorship?
Do you believe The Babylon Bee was targeted for simply getting too close to the truth too often?
I'll leave this here for others to discuss.
