Can a player play 17 games in a regular season? (1 Viewer)

Obviously it's possible for a player to play 17 regular season games. If he's traded from a team that has not yet had it's bye to team that has already had it's bye, and doesn't miss a game, he will play 17 games.

But, is this allowed?

If this happens, and the player sets a record, but needs all 17 games to do so, is it considered legit? And has that ever happened?

If a guy played a Thursday night game, and was then immediately traded to a team playing on Sunday (or Monday), would it be allowed to have the guy play two games in the same week? It would never happen, but I was wondering if there was some NFLPA rule that would prevent this.

Moss could use the extra game to pad his beyond average stats.

That being written, he'll go for 117 yards and a TD today. He always ramps it up for his first game with a new team.
