And the beauty of it is you can both have your ending. The Goat said:I understand why you feel that way. If it had ended without seeing them reunite, I would have been disappointed.
I mentioned White HeatI'm shocked that no one has mentioned Heat yet.
But...the British version of the novel has an even better ending.Hell yes
Truly epic. Loved seeing Grossman from CHiPS in this flick.Motel Hell's Rory Calhoun chainsaw swordfight in a human flesh smokehouse gotta be up there, climactic-scenewise.
Awesome endings.Love the Casablanca call-outs -- great story behind that movie, as not even the actors knew what the ending would be as writers were iterating and writing through production right up to the end of filming, being influenced by what was going on in the war right at that time.
Not sure I saw a call-out to my favorite movie of all time:
The Sting.
Cliff Clavin is among those planted in the "jerky garden" as wellTruly epic. Loved seeing Grossman from CHiPS in this flick.
It’s so intense and disturbing.Whoever had Requiem For A Dream as the best ending is obviously a sadist at best -- or, of course, somebody who doesn't like happy endings (in the true sense of the term).
Holy crikey.
Yeah, it is a great ending but I don't likeIt’s so intense and disturbing.
It’s all really bad but that’s the point so it is very effective for what the director was trying to do. Never been done better imo.Yeah, it is a great ending but I don't like

Oh, sure. I'm not debating that. I just prefer happy endings is all. I'm a Hollywood sucker. Give me Tinseltown and roses. But Requiem was my favorite current movie in my twenties along with Magnolia. It’s all really bad but that’s the point so it is very effective for what the director was trying to do. I like sad endings but I’ve seen Requiem twice when it came out and I’ll never watch it again. It’s scarier than any traditional horror film.Oh, sure. I'm not debating that. Yeah, back when I was in trouble, I used to watch it all the time to remind me. I made it through partially because of Aranofsky and Selby and P.T. Anderson reminding me. It's amazing the power art has.I like sad endings but I’ve seen Requiem twice when it came out and I’ll never watch it again. It’s scarier than any traditional horror film.
Also, that's a great way to treat Requiem. It's sort of a bad trip. I've had friends say the exact same thing you're saying. Riveted, but over it.I like sad endings but I’ve seen Requiem twice when it came out and I’ll never watch it again. It’s scarier than any traditional horror film.
Shane is my alltime favorite flick. Period. I read the book too, which is different in that Shane is pretty much a bad guy.Shane ending is fantastic. The Searchers has the best opening/closing bookmarks in the movies IMO.

Hard to disagree with Andy Dufresne on this but I do. The reunion took a great ending to and all-timer.Nope. Totally serious.

I was poking fun at your responses in the other thread about "deserving it" in the "Making A Murderer" thread.I don't know what you mean?do you like the ones where they all deserve it?
Nope totally clueless on that. Went right over my head. Much like peoples responses in the making a murder thread.I was poking fun at your responses in the other thread about "deserving it" in the "Making A Murderer" thread.
You knew that ...COME ON!!!
It's like you think you're some sort of authority on that movie. Why?!!I don't think it needed to be spelled out. And the primary emotional note was hope, not resolution. That Andy brought hope back into Red's life was the point. IMO, anyway.
Strange movie but great ending and one of the best psycho portrayals ever by the same actor who played Ghandi.Sexy Beast
