For me one of the many lessons of 2016 is that we have no idea what works and what doesn't. To cite just one of many examples- we have no idea what likability does next to Trump. Clinton had many assets and I didn't have much problem with her personally, but it's hard to argue that she was likable. It's possible that Trump's true awfulness was masked somewhat because he was sharing the stage with another person people didn't care for, and that holding him up against a genuinely decent human being that virtually everyone admires and respects will highlight his awfulness for people who currently give him the benefit of the doubt because they think all politicians suck or something. Klobuchar might be the most likable Senator on the Hill. The fact that it comes packaged with two decades of experience in the Senate, the toughness of a prosecutor (and presumably the debate skills to match), geographic appeal and gender appeal ... it's a lot of variables in her favor. She's on my shortlist for support in 2020. Fatguy makes a great point though - is she a dynamic and captivating speaker? I hate that we've trended this way as a country, but star power > wonkiness at this point at the ballot box.
Also I think the Dems could run an inanimate carbon rod against Trump in 2020 and it would make the rod the second-biggest star in America. Whoever is tasked with the massive responsibility of taking down the worst President since slavery is gonna be an immediate superhero.
