Now that the NFL draft is complete and we have had a few days to let things sink in, lets find out what the SP thinks of the rookies and where they stack up against each other for fantasy.

I decided to expand to four different polls post NFL draft, as now we can consider how each player fits with their teams and what that may mean in terms of fantasy points.

I am populating the poll from my own rankings, with the exception of the 2QB poll where I will slot the top 3 QB choices at all times. If a player is not listed that you think should be, please recommend that they be added to the appropriate poll. If you would vote for a player who is not listed please vote other and post who you voted for, and that player will be added to the next poll.

Discussion welcome. Thanks everyone for voting.

Definitely a large tier here with lots of fairly equal options.  But is anyone really taking pumphrey this early?  He was taken in the 7th in my 32 team league (both copies). Equal to pick 101 (after hood, Mack, and Brian hill). That's idp and he may have fallen too far but still this seems really early for him to be in the discussion.

Imo he's roughly equal to tarik cohen.  What am I missing?

Not sure you are missing anything. Maybe I am missing on what players are being drafted higher just from not paying attention to that.

I haven't been paying attention to ADP at all in regards to these players. So if there are players people think should be in the poll over others, I'm open to suggestions about that. I haven't changed my rookie rankings for over a month now. A few things have happened since then, such as the Eagles signing Blount. I don't really think that changes the long term outlook for Pumphrey though.

I have Pumphey as a borderline tier two prospect if he does develop into a Darren Sproles type of player. In the few games of his that I watched, he showed the skill set of an all around RB with good vision, quickness and change of direction ability. I really like the way he uses his blocking and he has good timing with the flow of the play as well as good instricts reading the defense. Also a good receiver. The bad part is that he is small and doesn't have much power. On one play that stands out in my memory he was arm tackled by a blocked defender. Just stopped dead in his tracks. So that is a weakness he has. He generally has good pad level and a feel for the crease to maximize yardage gained in that way though. In my estimation he does a lot of things better than Marlon Mack who I also have as a borderline tier two prospect. However maybe both of these guys should be tier 3 players instead. I was considering that for awhile the last time I updated rookie rankings but ended up just leaving it alone. I couldn't decide where the cut off point should be. If I dropped Mack and Pumphrey then I would likely need to drop Jamaal Williams as well. So I just left them as tier two upside players instead.

I haven't watched Brian Hill so I don't have an opinion about him (unranked). Maybe he is good? No idea.

There are some things I like about Hood but I think his upside is really limited. I would definitely rather have Pumphrey than him. I agree though that Pumphrey is a bit of a long shot to become relevant for fantasy. Maybe he will be more of an offensive weapon type player, good on special teams and for specific packages, but because of his size and lack of power, perhaps he doesn't get much more opportunity than that. Based on what I saw of him at the college level. He seemed very natrual as a RB and even can run between the tackles pretty well. Just has to burst and juke there though, he is never going to be a pile mover.

Here are the games of Pumphrey that I watched. I did a write up of some of his games in another thread around here.

Fair points.

I really like what Hill brings to the table, but I hate the landing spot. Hard to imagine him being fantasy relevant any time soon if he remains in Atlanta.

Pumphrey could eventually fill the Sproles role in this offense, so he certainly has some PPR dynasty value, but he isn't likely to get many touches in that role this season behind a healthy Sproles, but Sproles is no spring chicken.

I rank both Mack and Hood ahead of Pumphrey for redraft, but like Pumphrey, any significant value depends upon the health of the starters ahead of them. Perhaps Mack spells Gore in this offense enough to have some weekly value. Maybe the Raiders keep Lynch's usage down to preserve him for a playoff run. I think you could nearly as easily tell a story that leads to Pumphrey getting a larger role as well, however.

The situation for Pumphrey isn't that great and as a player he may not be that different than guys like DeAndre Washington last year or Duke Johnson from before that. I do like him better than Washington and think he is closer to Johnson as far as that goes.

Thats why it is hard for me to decide if he is tier two upside or tier three. Its borderline.

The way I have the tier two guys ranked right now looks like this:

Tier Two

(7) Mike Williams Chargers
(9) John Ross Bengals
(37) Zay Jones Bills
(86) Kareem Hunt KC Chiefs
(62) JuJu Smith-Schuster Steelers
(89) D'Onta Foreman Texans
(67) Alvin Kamara Saints
(40) Curtis Samuel Panthers
(69) Cooper Kupp Rams
(72) Taywan Taylor Titans
(114) Samaje Perine Redskins

(12) Deshaun Watson Texans
(10) Patrick Mahomes KC Chiefs
(2) Mitch Trubisky Bears
(52) Deshone Kizer Browns

(44) Gerald Everett Rams
(82) Carlos Henderson Broncos
(84) Chris Godwin Buccaneers
(117) Josh Reynolds Rams
(134) Jamaal Williams Packers
(143) Marlon Mack Colts
(132) Donnell Pumphrey Eagles
(100) Jonnu Smith Titans

The players ranked after the QB are like tier 2B players for me, but they could be tier 3 players instead. If I were to move them down the cut off would likely start with Josh Reynolds or Jamaal Williams.

For the purpose of populating this poll that wouldn't change anything though, as these players would be at the top of my tier 3 prospects still. Where tier two ends is something I have had a tough time with this year.

I like Aaaron Jones about as much as the above 3 RB. So I was debating moving him up or else moving these 3 down. I liked Jones a bit better than Williams prior to the NFL draft, but his lower draft position as well as the situation limits his opportunity a lot. I think Montgomery may be able to hold him off. Williams brings a different skill set that I think they will use in tandem with Montgommery.

By draft position Pumphrey was selected higher than Mack or Williams.

As I said if people recommend a player to be included in the polls I will add that player to the polls. That is how Joe Williams got in the poll. I have him as a tier 3 prospect just ahead of Aaron Jones. He was drafted ahead of the above 3 RB at 102.

How has Perine's value shifted since he was voted on. Is he still in the top 10?
I am not quite sure what you mean by shifted?

In these polls the lowest he went was 2.02 which was completed on May 26th so about a month ago. I haven't been paying attention to ADP so I am not sure if people are drafting him lower than this or not?

In my own rookie rankings I had Perine as the 11th overall player pre NFL draft. I have him 19th post NFL draft. Personally I thought Perine had a chance to be a 2nd or 3rd round pick prior to the draft, so him being drafted later than what I was anticipating shifted him down somewhat in my rankings, but it was mostly other players moving ahead of him based on draft position. The tier two A players (ranked ahead of the QB) I consider to all be very much the same value, they are listed mostly based on draft position with the exception of Kamara, who I am still not completely sold on.

I thought I liked Perine but people voting like him more than I do. I do think the situation in Washington is great for him, and I maybe do have him too low as far as that goes. Your question made me think about this some more, and I moved just behind Kamara now, still in the same tier. I think I would draft him ahead of Samuel, Kupp, and Taylor. So I changed that just now.

As to your question about him still being in the top 10? I don't know if his value has changed at all over the past month (or why it would) but I personally haven't had him quite that high, even prior to the NFL draft.

The news out of camp about them riding the hot hand and having a confusing backfield has seemingly affected his stock. I saw him drop to the middle of the 2nd round in 1 draft. I was just curious if this was a prevalent occurrence, or something that just happened to occur this 1 time.  Dropping from top 10 to the 20th pick is fairly far.

Yeah I know some here are talking about taking Perine as high as pick 1.06 or 1.07 but each draft will vary.

The long term outlook for the WR and NFL draft position had me ranking the WR ahead of him, but I do like Perine enough that I would take him over Samuel, Kupp and Taylor. So I changed that.
