A collection of mostly useless but sometimes interesting things I've come across. There are bugs with opening a lot of spoiler boxes at once. Easiest to avoid if you close each box again once you read the answer. If that doesn't work, just reload the thread and they should work again.

Ronald Wilson Reagan and William Jefferson Clinton.
3) Four states were added to the Union during the presidency of Benjamin Harrison, the most for any president other than George Washington. Name any two of the four states.

Montana, South Dakota, North Dakota, and Washington. The admission of the new states was viewed by most historians as a Republican political ploy for control of Congress, as the states were mostly Republican and all eight new members of the US Senate were Republican. While New Mexico was blocked from joining the Union at the same time primarily because it favored the Democrats.
4) Which US President lived to be the oldest?

Gerald Ford, at 93 years and 165 days. Ronald Reagan died 45 days short of Ford.

6) True or false, the spiders known as "daddy longlegs" are the most venomous spiders in the world, but humans are safe from their bite because their fangs are too small and weak to break through human skin.

False. According to entomologists, "daddy longlegs" is commonly used to refer to two different creatures. One is not venomous and isn't even a spider technically. The other is a true spider and is venomous, and its fangs are similar to those of a brown recluse so theoretically can penetrate skin. However, they do not naturally bite people, so no research had ever been done into the potency of their venom.

The TV show Mythbusters tested the myth in 2004 with co-host Adam Savage coaxing one into biting him. Savage reported nothing more than a very mild burning sensation that only lasted for a few seconds.
7) Which country has the most neighboring nations touching its borders?

China. The 14 countries touching its border are: India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Russia, North Korea, Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar, Bhutan and Nepal.

The Cleveland Browns, Detroit Lions, Houston Texans, and Jacksonville Jaguars.
9) Where are you if you are in a country whose official languages include Ndebele, Northern Sotho, Sotho, Swazi, Tsonga, Tswana, Venda, Xhosa and Zulu?

South Africa. Two more common official languages that were left off the question's list are Afrikaans and English.
10) Roughly how many distinct languages are in existence today?

a) 50
b) 140
c) 1600
d) 7000
e) 18000

d) 7000. The number is believed to be around 6,900 but there may be languages spoken in remote areas we have yet to discover.
11) Why is the sky blue?

Because molecules in the air scatter blue light more than they scatter red light. Light that would have passed by overhead has the blue light bent further down to where it reaches you, increasing the amount of blue that you see. At sunrise or sunset, you see more red as the the blue wavelengths have already been diminished by this scattering while the red make it through. http://math.ucr.edu/home/baez/physics/General/BlueSky/blue_sky.gif

a) 4 pounds
b) 22 pounds
c) 350 pounds
d) 1.5 tons
e) 12 tons

e) 12 tons. Each hair can hold about 3 oz of weight on its own. The amount of hair on a head varies, but for an average person it could probably support the weight of 2 elephants before breaking. Hair is about as strong as aluminum or Kevlar in this regard.

Forgot to bump this one for the weekday crew, what with the board upgrade that started up the next day.  Working on another one now.
