***Official - 2024 Major League Baseball Thread - Mahomes is Better At Baseball Than Jose Abreu*** (1 Viewer)

After watching the latest White Sox loss, I switched over to watch the rest of the Cubs game just in time to see Pete Crow Armstrong get his first major league hit, a go-ahead home run against the Astros.

Which led me to this :P post.

My wife, son and I went to Phoenix for spring training this year. On our last day, we decided to go to the White Sox vs. Cubs "Spring Breakout" game that featured the prospects for both teams. The game ended up being cancelled due to rain, but all of the players sat at tables in the concourse for signatures for well over an hour. If you wanted a signature from all of them, you definitely had the chance to.

Being White Sox fans, my son was totally stoked to get autographs from some of the Southside youngsters like Colson Montgomery, Noah Schultz, Bryan Ramos, Edgar Quero, Jacob Gonzalez, Nick Nastrini, etc.

But I have to say, this was my favorite picture of all of them. My son is a baseball fan so he obviously knew who PCA was and wanted to get his autograph. Pete wasn't quite as thrilled with signing an autograph for a White Sox fan. He looks a bit annoyed at the whole thing. :ROFLMAO:

:lmao:

So good

LOL......PISSED!

May need a thread title update with Holliday sent back down.
I was torn on what to do with him, but this is probably for the best. They don't need him right now - let him get his head on right. He'll be fine.

I remember when the Orioles brought up Rich Dauer as Bobby Grich's replacement. He was supposed to The One. He started like 2-60 and - while he became a decent player for the Orioles - never got anywhere near what most thought he'd be. On the other hand, Cal Ripken started equally as awful as Dauer and they let him play through it.

We will see how the rest of this weekend series goes and sure it is the White Sox and Angels, but it is nice to have a little "get right" series for the Twins. Hopefully this will help build their confidence that they can still play baseball :ROFLMAO: .

I wonder if the Red Sox saw something in Tyler O'Neill's swing that they thought could be fixed. So far, so great.

He looks much different than the player I have seen in St. Louis the past couple of years.

3rd game in a row the umps robbed the Brewers. This time Peralta tossed for throwing an errant low pitch that hit the batter.

After a two hour delay, the latest start ever for a game in Arizona. 8:35 local.

Gonna be a late night east coast viewing.

just a funny FYI…..at citifield, mets v cubs last night, a guy is dressed up like steve bartman in the exact LF line spot. lol. i can’t find a picture, but cubs hat, walkman, black jacket and green collared shirt.
Now if it was the Marlins vs Cubs it would have been next level.

Turned on the game (audio only) and heard it would be delayed and potentially postponed so I went back to hockey. Fell asleep, not only because of hockey ( :oldunsure: ), and when I woke up I saw it had started but it looked like it would be at least a 2am finish. It went to extras and the dodgers lost so I'm glad I went to bed.

all that is wrong with baseball is on display at citified tonite. imanaga absolutely rolling thru the mets. has the look of if the mets played 70 innings they wouldn’t sniff a run off of him. but lord knows he has thrown an easy 86 pitches over 7 innings, so let’s remove him. if i’m the mets, i’m giddy. letter allows a walk and hit, now 2 on, 1 out…..

The ending of the Cubs/Mets game might have had the longest challenge review in history.
if the catcher wants to partially block off the plate or semi-screen when i am 6’2” 245 and the tying run, i am sliding hard, a little late and FEET FIRST. why alonso would go head first into the catcher’s shin guards shukes me. FEET FIRST thru the catcher to the plate.

The only time to go head first is if you are avoiding the catcher altogether and trying to reach back to get to the plate while sliding away from the tag. Anytime there is a chance for contact it should be feet first. Too much chance for significant injury otherwise.

Another stupid sliding decision.........sliding into first base when you aren't trying to avoid a tag or collision. The purpose of sliding is to slow down so you stay on the bag and to make it harder to tag you. No reason to do any of those (unless it's a bad throw where the 1B is trying to tag you). So many guys injuring their shoulders, hands etc by stupidly sliding into 1B. Just dumb.

This is what Willie Mays Hays should have done instead of his hook slide on Jake Taylor's suicide squeeze against the Yanks. Great ending but very poor slide.

* Unless you're Pete Rose.
