Here we go - My last mock of the year. 3 rounds. (1 Viewer)

I would disagree with that if true. Everything I've heard states that Robinson is way more cut out for RB than WR. Some are saying that about McNeal as well, but he has elite speed that would make him more of a vertical threat. I think McNeal is a better pick.
Good call on MRob, EG. Looking for a power back in this class of lightweights? Michael Robinson may be the ticket. Nice wheels, good feet, very powerful runner, 6-1 218 at the Senior Bowl, but can easily play at 230, played at 225 most of last season.

Round 1

1.18 Dallas Cowboys - Manny Lawson, DE - North Carolina State

1.23 Tampa Bay Buccaneers - Johnathan Joseph, DB - South Carolina
A few other comments: I see 18 being Carpenter or Wimbley, not Lawson.very intrigued by tampa going DB - could you say a little more on this one?
I agree with this two. There's even some caveats flying around about Lawson. 233 pounds at his last weigh in. Ultra high metabolism, cannot put on weight. Too small for 3-4 OLB, too inexperienced for 4-3, will get run over at DE. I still like him, but he's falling, methinks.

 I didn't give much thought to that pick. Just wanted to show that the 'Boys will NOT go safety in the first.

I completely agree. I'll be very surprised if they take a safety at 18. Unless its Huff. But thats not going to happen.......

I don't know if this has been brought up, but 20 of your 32 picks are identical to nfldraftcountdown.com, not including four (15, 16, 19, 20) which are flip-flopped.

I know it's almost draft time, but is there really that much consensus on every pick?

I think it's a solid mock though, and if there's one mock drafter to be confused with, it's got to be Scott Wright. If I'm not mistaken, I believe he got 13 of the first 15 picks right last year, and 20something in the first round.

I agree with you on Bunkley at 8 and Jimmy Williams falling.

To be completely honest, I get probably 50% of my information from that site. But realistically, yes, I do think that there is turning out to be a lot of consensus for most of the pics. 20 out of 32 isn't outrageous, is it?

There are teams that obviously need a defensive back. There's lots of first round talent. After you slot the top 4 picks, the next few fall into place.

I thought about putting Vernon Davis to the Packers, but I think Ted Thompson doesn't give a #### what Brett Favre thinks and Hawk is more important to the franchise than Davis.

I think the Broncos and the Dolphins HAVE to take one of either of the receivers that are at that spot. The Dolphins offense could be a real sleeper this year if they get anything out of the #2 WR spot.

SF needs an OLB, and at that spot Wimbley makes the most sense.

I have Sinorice Moss as a 2nd rounder.

Carolina would be blowing it to not take Lendale White. Same with Indy and Maroney.

So really, there isn't that much wiggle room to be different in the 1st. The preponerance of 1st round d-backs creates a logjam.

I'd be happy but surprised to see Winston fall to the Texans in the second. Assuming he is gone:

Does Lawson fall far enough to be available here, if so is that the pick?

Winston going in the first could lead to Allen falling one pick.

Or do they simply take the next best OT and go with McNeill?

Lawson and McNeill both have injury concerns. I can see this being a tough pick for the Texans.

In your view if Winston is gone, who do they take?

VERY SOLID work Andy

Thanks for taking the time to put together such a thoughtful mock.

A few thoughts...

1) Kellen Clemens (QB-Oregon) has been having a meteoric rise, I expect he'll go in the 2nd now, by the mid-3rd at worst

2) NY local reports (could be smokescreen) say that if Leinart is there at 4, the Jets are taking him. If he's not there (i.e., if Tenny takes him at 3), the Jets will NOT take Young or Cutler, but would instead grab D'Brick or Mario Williams

3) I think Ernie Sims (LB, Florida State) is Arizona's guy

4) According to Rob Rang, Daryn Colledge's stock is dropping, not rising, so I can't see him a) going that high or b) going ahead of Latui and Davin Joseph

5) No way do both Mangold and Joseph fall into the bottom of the 2nd round

Book it that the Saints will still take D'Brickashaw Ferguson. They hope to trade down obviously and may not ask for much from the Jets considering they would still get Brick and have to pay him less...

I didn't do well with these players, admittedly.
I think interior lineman are tough to mock because they rarely rate as the "biggest need" and, all things being equal, there's the notion that teams will pick other positions over an interior lineman if they carry similar grades. That said, there are guys who simply are too talented and productive to pass on.I'm a big-time Joseph fan, he bowled me over on NFL Total Access. The kid is a real student of the game, giving a detailed breakdown of all the top DT prospects and their various strengths and weaknesses were.

Kendall and Teague are both quality vets.
I bet you'd get a lot of argument that they're not.
There are other rounds in the draft beyond the ones you mocked, and O line is probably the deepest position in the draft. After all the Jets have needs at every offensive position and at DE and LB.
 When the need's that great and the opportunity presents itself, why not?If I were a Jets fan, I'd be anything but disappointed if it ended up this way.

They're not going to rebuild that team in one draft/one season anyway.
Arguements about Kendall and Teague? I doubt it. Remember, the problem with the Jets line last season was that by the middle of the year, the line was:LT: Jones (first year as starter - began the year at RT)

LG: Jonathan Goodwin

C: Kendall (out of position)

RG: Brandon Moore

RT: Scott Gragg

I think we'd all agree that it was a terrible line, but the addition of Trey Teague solidifies the middle of the line, allowing Kendall to go back to his natural position. The Jets also have a young center named Norm Katnick that they are high on, so I don't think they will draft a C - they're not going to carry three Cs. But what are they going ot do with two more Ts?

I guess we disagree on the level of need. It's not unprecedented, in my opinion. I also think the level of need is at least as high at the skill positions. I would eat my hat if the Jets took three o-linemen in the top 100.

Interesting. I think the Vikes would take Lawson or J. Williams over DeAngelo.
I'm big on Jon Alston to fill that fast linebacker role they're looking for.Why do you think CB in the first? I just don't see the Vikings doing that.
Paul Allen has mentioned a few times that the Vikes are not happy with Smoot. And supposedly they really like Williams.Lawson is interesting because he's one of the fastest rising players in the draft we've heard nothing about here. Last time that happened we took Williamson.

Personally, I like DeAngelo.

4) According to Rob Rang, Daryn Colledge's stock is dropping, not rising, so I can't see him a) going that high or b) going ahead of Latui and Davin Joseph
Did he give a reason why? He's one of the lightest OT prospects and didn't play for a college powerhouse which made me a little surprised he was grouped around guys like Eric Winston and Jeremy Trueblood but neither of those factors are new so I'm not sure that either would contribute to him falling. Does have off-field issues? Bad combine? Poor wonderlic?

1) Need to bulk up (but doubts about whether he can)2) Overpowered at the Senior Bowl

3) Concerns that his personality is "not what they expect for an offensive lineman"

Teams coming out bad in this mock are the Raiders, Giants, Bucs and Titans.
I'm interested in why you feel that way.
The Raiders need alot on defense and I, not being a raiders fan, think they need to address the D with their early pick or trade down. I think Andrew Walter is a great prospect and might be better than Leinart for that offense. Leinart doesn't have an extremly strong arm and all Oakland wants to do for the next couple years is throw the ball deep. In my oinion it's not a good fit. Howard is a nice LB from what I've read (never seen him play) and a ss is a spot they need help with. I just feel with a bad team like the Raiders they need impact help instead of getting projects. The Giants draft an underachieving DT in the first, a wr way to early in the second and a LB after they just paid Lavar alot of cash in the third. I just don't ssee them helping thier starting team.

The Bucs I might take back my statement alittle. I did see Joseph play a couple of times and he was a nice player. The kid from Cal is said be going alittle later.

I already stated why I didn't like Tenn.
I would not be surprised to see the Giants pick a DT in the first round. I think it is there biggest need at this point after having lost both Kendrick Clancy and Kendrick Allen in the offseason. It is of note that BigBlueIneractive's predicition is that the Giants take Watson. I also would not be surprised if they drafted a LB in the first even with the Arrington signing but I think they might just draft one a little later in the draft.

Here's a comparison of my predictions vs actual.I think this shows that most NFL GMs don't know what they're doing. ;)I'm actually pretty pleased how close I came, at least position wise, for most teams. I actually outright nailed a few selections outside the first round, missing by only a round or so (Pope, Norwood, Zemaitis).
