I loved this movie. Born and raised in WV. Still live here. I grew up with, and still have friends that are exactly like this. When he pours beer on the bee stings.... I had a friend do that after getting into a hornets nest while we were stacking hay in his barn.
ETA: When I saw that part in the movie I looked like the Leonardo Dicaprio meme where he sits up and points at the screen.

Allison: We misjudged you Dale. I'm... I'm really sorry.

Dale: Don't be sorry, it's my fault. I should have known if a guy like me talked to a girl like you, somebody would end up dead.

:lmao:

Anyone watching the series From? I think it’s only on MGM+ which I had to subscribe to. Season 1 came out on some platform a few years ago and then went pay or something so we didn’t finish it. S2 came out recently so we decided to pay and pick it back up. Only a few episodes into S2 but it’s got a good balance of horror and mystery
I thought that it was an entertaining show. I got a free week of MGM+ specifically to watch season 2.
Season 1 was showing for free on Prime months ago, that's when I saw that. Haven't seen Season 2 yet but 1 was very good IMO

I really liked this movie on first watch. Woody Harrelson's character is by far my favorite. I'm not a fan of fast zombies though. I have thoughts on why it doesn't work in most scenarios, though I do have one fast zombie movie on my list.

I watched the free episodes and won't be returning. I was irritated at how they handled new people - they needed to print up some cards and hand them to new people rather than telling them 5% of what they need to know when the camera is on them, then not saying anything more for a few hours until the camera is back. Silly complaint, but it bugged the hell out of me.

Tucker and Dale was such a pleasant surprise. I knew nothing coming in, just saw it when scrolling some streaming service. I showed it to my niece and she shows it to all her college friends - I haven't encountered anyone who didn't enjoy this.

I'm 99% sure Cockneys vs. Zombies isn't on this list, but it fit into the same category for me.

The "chase" scene with the guy using the walker in Cockneys vs Zombies is an all-timer.

Sorry, it's the original. I'll update the google sheet. 9 times out of 10 it will be the original but my spreadsheet looks these things up and if a remake is listed first on the big database I downloaded that's what gets pulled in. I correct what I can manually, but obviously miss a few.

Agree it’s my favorite- I found it absolutely terrifying even if I never fully understood the whole plot. Sometimes that’s preferred to things being overly explained.

Yeah, I fully agree that the plot is beyond anything based in reality, but sometimes movies are fun regardless for various reasons and this is one of those. There is no other movie quite like it and it's a fun ride. And as I mentioned, that score!

Apropos of nothing, I learned fairly recently that the actress that played Rachel (Denise Crosby) was the estranged granddaughter of Bing Crosby and the niece of who shot J.R. (Mary Crosby).

That scoliosis scene is still frightening
That's the part that elevates the movie to the upper tier IMO. The flashbacks and visions of the sister are bone-chilling
Apropos of nothing, I learned fairly recently that the actress that played Rachel (Denise Crosby) was the estranged granddaughter of Bing Crosby and the niece of who shot J.R. (Mary Crosby).

And she tragically was killed by a tar monster on Vagra II!!!

This is my favorite of the Jordan Peele movies. Yeah, it's a bit over the top, plot-wise, but Iit was a very entertaining watch. What stands out to me is the use of "I Got 5 On It" and how they turned it into a creepy theme throughout the movie.

Yeah almost all of the movies in the countdown are silly if you think about the plot. Horror movies rarely make logical sense or take place in reality. It’s an easy genre for me to let go and just embrace the ride.

#71 - Pet Sematary

Dr. Louis Creed's family moves into the country house of their dreams and discover a pet cemetery at the back of their property. The cursed burial ground deep in the woods brings the dead back to life -- with "minor" problems. At first, only the family's cat makes the return trip, but an accident forces a heartbroken father to contemplate the unthinkable.

Figured this would still do well, just didn’t hold up for me on my last viewing.

Epic episode

Something I'm realizing about myself as I see which of these movies I add to my queue: I like horror movies where there's a physical opponent. Zombie, slasher, monster. Ghosts and such scare me too much to watch - a jump scare in a possession or ghost movie make me poo. #wuss

I'm realizing that I favor horror movies that fully immerse themselves in specific past eras (e.g.; Late Night with the Devil in the 1970s, Shadow of the Vampire in the 1920s silent film era).
